i was curious about her role in the film as well. ya know i haven't seen much of her films.  does she have have bigger roles in them well outside of "DS" ? i'm also glad to hear that this was a good film as well.

i know that. but when you have say "Jerry Lacy" if memory serves that's his right last name. he's gone over the top on some scenes. but he's a damn good actor & that makes the scene stronger.  if you look at the actress who played say "Buffy" she was TERRIBLE!  Chris P. i think did his best acting as Cyrus Longworth & his counter Part than he did as say Jeb. he was at his worst acting wise playing Jeb. in short his acting did improve in time. one actor that never gave a bad peformance is "David Selby" i can't recall him ever giving one. he's also my favorite actor off the show. & Character as well. what's funny is you are right about my mom. she used to watch soaps as well. daytime soaps i mean.  but she stopped watching them years ago when the children starting sleeping with the same people their parents were!  that's just NASTY!

anyways, one show that i did actually try & get into when "Sci-Fi Channel" aired it was "Passions" that show had NOT one good actor or actress on the entire show. now they may have given  better performances doing other stuff. i'm not denying that. but when they did the show it's simply aweful. one of the actors from it i read an interview he did & even he admitted he's surprised he even has a job cause he' s not that great of an actor. this was of course before the show was cancelled.

i think that took balls to admit that.  & as for the performance enchancement. i think it can work if the right actor or actress was told to. but i also think if they aren't that great at acting to begin with it can worsen the performance. Don Briscoe i think was a TERRIBLE Vampire i couldn't wait till he was staked.  he also did an unconvincing werewolf change but if he could play himself & not have to go through that he was a better actor. Nancy Berret i think is a great actress as well. but she had her weakness to. being frightned was one of them. sometimes when she cried it wasn't convincing either. but other than that her acting was simply brilliant. Louis Edmonds was ALWAYS Brilliant so telling him to go over the top i think would make his acting even better. in short i think for some people doing the show telling them to do just that didn't work simply cause they hadn't really done much or any other acting. therefore hadn't had enough work to improve on it.

but this is just one guys opinions. i think i've said this before when i said, i don't consider it a soap opera cause it really isn't. i think before Barnabas came on the show it was. but once they went supernatural & went all out. to me it doesn't feel like that. but at the end of the show with the Bramwell Storyline it did go back to being a soap. so as they said on the dvd set. i forget which one. it went full circle.

what do you think?

well i wasn't around back when it was 1st on. my parents were though. my grandma my mom's mom. didn't watch it she used to watch a different soap back than. i forget which one? anyways, so my mom really never watched it. in fact she hates it since i became a fan. plus she picks on the bad acting. well so do i actually i poke fun at it as well. but i still love it.

when i watch it i do a little "MSTK3000" in some scenes when i see someone over acting or underacting or trying to act. & it just makes watching the show even more fun. he he. anyways, a few years ago i was watching it on old tapes i used to have. i had taped the entire show off Sci-Fi & i had to get rid of all 66 or however many VHS tapes i had? cause really the tapes wore out & got old. so that's why. anyways, in the scene when the pirates i believe tore uP Collin wood. before

Barnabas & Julia head back in time. from standard (1970) i had a nightmare that nite about that. out of all the stories i think the scariest & convincing that the show ever did was that & having the head in that case. it's just creepy.

let me also add that i'm saying this in the year (2010) & so a LOT of the show looks & feels less scary now in (2010) than it prolly would have back in the late 60's & Early 70's.  but those 2 are i think the scariest. let me also add that i didn't watch this as a kid for me to be scared at anything else. but as an adult. but thanxs though for sharing your memories with us.

well if people here liked his book than that also eases my mind as well. it also has eased my mind a LOT upon reading a little bit more about this guys book. & hearing people like it i mean. so in short who knows? ya know?

oh i believe it. i'm THRILLED that they put the dvd case smaller at some point. cause when the dvd's 1st came out those are a bitch to use. they either don't stay closed or the discs do fall out. which is why i think they made the cases smaller.

another series that Overprices stuff is the "BBC" i LOVE "Doctor Who" as well but buying Say Season 1 for $80 is just plain TERRIBLE for just 13 episodes. they NEED to down price their stuff as well. they aren't going broke. neither is "MPI"

i think i saw on "MPI" that they did lower the price somewhat on their "DS" dvd's. because it was $59.99 which is NOT a price i like to be honest. i dunno what the prices is now. but last i looked it was i think $40.00? which is a bit more reasonable.

these sets don't have that much when it comes to extra's. & i can live with that. they have interviews & Vol 26. has stuff on it so i can live with that. but you would think that they'd lower the prices what with today's Economy.  we will buy the sets either way but you would think that if they loward their prices to say $30.00 Everywhere we'd buy them a LOT Faster than at the current prices. but than what do we know ya know?

i agree Jimbo. i also don't want another remake but a NEW film. the ONLY thing i really honestly expect to be the same, & i'll be SHOCKED if it's not in it. is the start of the film. where Barnabas is Released in short the introduction of Barnabas. the rest after that i think SHOULD be Original. it won't honestly bother me if Willie isn't the one who finds him.

it also won't bother me if he isn't his slave in it. since i prefer him when he's not his slave anyways. but those are things i can live with ya know?  it'd also be cool if they Could film it at the original Estate like the show did. i know the show was filmed in New York. but i'm referring to the interior when they went to Lyndhurst. isn't it called? if they are able to film inside that

than i think that'd be great.

266
it's also nice that for a tv show that was on eons ago. the actors & actressess who were on it. may it be for a short period of time or a long period of time. it's nice hear that they are REAL Friendly  & great friends even to this day. & even if some have lost contact since the show ended or their time on the show.

that doesn't always happen. plus i think it helped that they basically treated like comedy to keep sane during the filming. so it's i think easier for them to get along than if everyone took it VERY Serious, not that they didn't. but to a point like i said on some shows the cast doesn't always get along because of that.  & i agree 100% for a woman her age. L. Parker she STILL looks Good. not many women can still look good at 67.  "Ann Margaret" is one that still looks good for her age. & so does Sophi Loren.  & the cast seems to actually have aged well. though it is sad that J.Frid has to walk with a cane now.

but at the conventions anyways it prolly looks like he is in character. i'm just thrilled that he's ok though.

267
i agree 100% i Do have reservations but it's not against the writer,  since i've never read or seen any of his material to see if he's any good? i honestly have no idea. i also didn't hear that the previous script was very funny. that's the 1st i've heard of that. well i guess if they choose a different writer hopefully he LEAST knows what "DS" is & what type of show it was. & is.

i also hope he's a fan as well. cause i think Fans of this or that show tend to do a better job than if they aren't.  anyways people also say the same thing about books that get made into films. they expect EVERYTHING to be in it. well some do anyways. such as "The Dark Tower" series buy "Stephen King" personally i'd love to see that either as a film. or a tv series for HBO. that'd i think would be Perfect for the format. maybe a guy like Alan Ball for that one. anyways, that's for another thread. my points that's also why i have this atitude. i worry like everyone else does about how DS is going to make it in a film. to bad "Dan Curtis" has since passed away cause than he'd ease our minds. i just hope the film doesn't come out in (2013) as the latest news says. that's a bit too far ahead for them to do that. i don't think i can wait THAT Long for them to release the original films on dvd or blue-ray.  it also wouldn't surprise me if MPI did a re-issue of the tv series during that time.  when it's in theatres. that i can understand why they'd do that. but i am THRILLED that the Entire show is on dvd. & that they finished releasing it before all this was announced. ya know?

268
thanxs you cousin, also i've never even HEARD of the guy before. the writer i mean, so i've never read any of his books or seen any of his movies if he's done film adaptation before i mean. i have no idea if he has or not.

People diss the "Lost In Space" film but i actually like it. only thing that i think they COULD have done is not cast "Gary Oldman" whom i am a fan of & have been for years. but in this instance he was miscast.  but the film i enjoy. it's actually one of the 1st early dvd's i ever bought. so i have good memories towards that & the film as well.

well for me, i have Volumes, 1. in the "Begining" series in the standard series, i have 1-3, 17-22,24-26 & i also plan on taking FULL advantage of this FANTASTIC sale & buying hopefully a few more. i get paid this week. & i say Fantastic cause have you seen the prices on some websites for the series? they are simply TERRIBLE! full price at Boarders.com well counting tax & shipping. other than that it's $56.00 ,  $70 bucks at "Best Buys" official Site & that's without Tax & shipping. i'm sorry those prices are just plain TERRIBLE! & Especially "Best Buys" i LOVE the show but i'm NOT THAT big of the show to spend nearly $80 bucks on just one volume!  it's just NOT worth it.

no show is.

270
i agree, that's what i am trying to do as well. i am THRILLED that we have someone who wants to make the film WHO actually IS a fan of the show. unlike sometimes where people make films of their favorite tv shows or favorite books & don't do the film justice. & thankfully Johnny Depp grew up watching the show. i can't give you an answer on tim burton though. i'm curious if he's even SEEN the show or what he thought of it? i know they plan on doing the film together.

but to me it does seem like perfect fit. well more of a fit than say if 'David Fincher" directed it. only cause Burton has been doing Macabre. his entire life & actually i think that even if some people do LOVE the film, people will still hate it.

only cause like i said everyone here is so used to the original Cast that there will never be any real replacements for it. even if there are fans of the remakes they've already done. so that's my atitude & i am going to try my damdest to try & keep it like that.
