Current Talk '06 II / Re: Burke Devlin....like him or hate him?
« on: October 30, 2006, 11:30:30 PM »
Didn't like either Burke as characters-though I think the first Burke was a much better actor than Anthony George. When George later went to One Life To Live, he played the doctor the same way he played Burke, so I think he could only really play himself! [female_skull]

Not exactly supernatural and not exactly DS-related except that it involves a soap incorporating some interesting new elements:

Oh for God's sake!  If I didn't think Soaps were moronic before, this CLINCHES the deal!   [hall2_rolleyes]

Er--wasn't Dark Shadows a soap...? [hall2_wink]

Current Talk '06 II / Re: Best DS DVD Interviews?
« on: October 27, 2006, 03:12:53 PM »
Also, let's not forget that Lara was also busy raising her two sons, getting divorced a few years after DS went off the air and then marrying her current husband, and becoming a mother for the third time.  In short, she had a life outside showbusiness.  As we all know, she didn't let grass grow under her feet if she became dissatisfied with Hollywood, she went back to school and also began a writing career.  She has gained a vast knowledge on the subjects of literature and mythtology as a whole, and she has imparted some of what she has learned in her interviews on the DVDs.  The lady knows what she's talking about- don't knock her!  I have nothing but the deepest respect for Lara, and it's a pity that some people here don't.  Ok, I may have stoked the fires of controversy here, but it's something I had to get off my chest.

Agree totally-thanks for saying that, Charles Ellis. [clap] [clap] [clap] [clap]

Polls Archive / Re: Halloween poll: Dark Shadows scariest moments
« on: October 27, 2006, 05:42:57 AM »
Barnabas reaching up to Willie from the coffin gave me chills the first time I saw it in the '60's--and it still does. I think it is THE moment which defined the beginning of the DS gothic spookiness. Not showing B's whole body, but just the hand was brilliant--it's always scarier to let your mind fill in the blanks than to be blatant, IMHO. [skull_winks]

Current Talk '06 II / Re: Who's "caught up" with the releases?

I've finished all of them, and am now starting over with #1 of the "collectors VHS tapes", which include the pre-Barnabas episodes...just can't ever get enough! And everytime, I find something new. [Witch00]

Just FYI, I picked up a DVD yesterday called "Vampires Anonymous"--about a vamp who, after eating his last girlfriend in his '57 Chevy, decides he needs to join a 12-step program to break his habit!  It's hilarious! If you want a fun, silly, Halloween movie, it's a gem! [dancing_bones]

Where are all the hot 30-something women in Collinsport?

Remember the howling dogs, and when Barnabas sent Willie out to get his "evening meals"?--Maybe he liked the 30-yr olds best--yum!  [hall2_smiley]
