The CW's Fall show The Vampire Diaries (based on the book series) has been mentioned here before, and at Comic-Con its writer/producer compared the story of vampires set loose on a small town to DS--

http://www.hitfix.com/articles/2009-7-26-comic-con-first-look-the-cw-s-vampire-diaries

I heard that during the Vampire Diaries (VD??) panel, he told the audience that he watched the show when he was a kid, calling it a "sexy soap."

I always enjoy Don R. Vaughan's blog. I particularly enjoy it whenever he attempts to encourage people to speak correctly (sadly, an often all too quickly slipping away practice  [ghost_sad]). And I especially enjoy it whenever he does so with DS as a prime example of correct speech to which we should aspire.  [ghost_cool]

Here's another entry inspired by DS.  Thank you for the link, Julia99!

I'm so excited!!!

Clip #1 (hilarious!)

Clip #2 (from "Save Our Cemetery")

Clip #3 (from "Save Our Cemetery")

Darryl Schaffer, as always, is spot on as both Barnabas and Julia.  All the cast is terrific: Guy Haines as the Ghost of Sam Evans and Mark Moyer as Doc Woodard.  (Sharon Smyth-Lenz also appears in the complete S.O.S. video, reprising her role of the Ghost of Sarah Collins.)  Thank you for the heads up, JVjr!

OMG, I had to share this entry from a blog called "Chronicling the Dark Shadowy Vampire Twilight."  Once you get past the intro and a few questionable remarks, it becomes a delightful discussion of "center slices" and the "natural look" of DS actors and fashions.

American writer Claudia Gray (Evernight, Stargazer) had this to say in an interview on ninemsn.com about her popularity with Australian readers and why vampire fiction is the "latest literary fad":

The modern era of the sexy, romantic vampire probably began with Barnabas Collins of Dark Shadows and of course the Anne Rice books.

Why fact check when you can throw in the word "probably"?  lol
