Mr. Frid VO... A "stranger" drops by the shop... stranger than whom? Carolyn is bowled over by him, proclaiming love at first sight to Barnabas later, who doesn't come across now as someone to confide in. J Frid is being as smarmily creepy as he can be, and we notice it, but his family notices nothing. As Barnabas patiently hears all this from Carolyn about the stranger she's in love with, I pictured him thinking "Hmm, better run him down with my car."
ECS... good observation about repeated "refrains", repeated words, in the unreadable text of the Book, indicating that it probably is a devotional book of some kind, religious. Liz has hidden expertise in this area. Barnabas gets her to take a nap and plants a dream, but as usual with DS, I can't see the point of the dream. It's about funhouse distorting mirrors, ending with her being very happy to see Barnabas. Maybe he just wants Liz to be even more trusting of him than she already is. She took a nap for him in the middle of the day, that's pretty naively trusting already...
Barnabas, with surgical precision, manages to mow down "Unknown Man" without coming a couple feet further and running into or through the shop's display window. It always seems as if he was driving straight at the shop, somehow. We get to see up David Selby's nose a little. Closing credits, dancing marionettes.
DL...... David's shirt seems a bit strange mainly because of that white stripe down the front, and irritatingly we wonder if it's functional like a fastening or just a stripe, wasting our attention for a couple seconds...
"Abstemious"... my new word for the day!
I forgot about David's fat suit. This dream was pretty strange, come to think. It took a certain amount of trouble to get Henesy into that, but I have no idea why they did it.
