i'm confused...

will all of the bonus features and deleted scenes be on both releases or only the blue ray? or do they all come together?

the extra scenes really sound like they might help flesh some of it out.

yes i prefer the come-and-go options of the hotel fest setup...

a cruise sounds confining. claustrophobic even.

in recent years i've been fortunate with several fests at the brooklyn marriot. i live in brooklyn so when i'm feeling tired or "over it" so to speak i can just walk home.

it sounds like this year's event stepped up to the plate after all. glad those who attended had fun.

gothick i believe that's sharon smyth...even our little sarah's grown up.

it would be interesting to hear an exchange between carolyn and tony peterson. that was one of those relationships/storylines on the series that sort of fizzled out on the launching pad. the last time we see peterson is in the infamous diana walker "fake carolyn" episode. then the character disappears without a trace never to be mentioned again. given the massively scaled back nature of this year's "event" i just couldn't justify the time, travel or expense of attending. scott and parker hawking their books wasn't enough of an enticement.

and frankly the outrageous behavior of the outer fringes of this fanbase over the movie(i'm recalling tears, pleas and threats of suicide on other boards)the very idea left me uncomfortable for some time.

that said i'm glad it seems as if the guest list and activities planned have been improved and those in attendace are enjoying themselves. there's always next year.

i loved how the pheonix was "played" by laura collins. miss collins was a fine actress.

and really, the towheaded mr. frid was so "youthful" he was almost boyish. the flaxen hair. the porcelain skin. angelic. [ghost_wink]

it's interesting that julia always gets "angry", and sort of takes it personally, when barnabas needs to and does "feed"...

i mean she knows what he is, and since her "experiment" did not work out entirely, while i can understand her being upset her scolding attitude is rather uncalled for.

he needs blood to survive and she knows it.

yes in one jewel of an issue julia, carolyn, roger and quentin were ALL wearing the same green pantsuit.

carolyn and julia never wore pants on the series(minus carolyn's "buzz" moment). in some panels julia appears to be channeling linda hamilton bodywise...broad and busty in kick-ass pants and tight tops. i mean how hard is it to draw a proper skirtsuit?

i dropped these after the abysmal volume four...any improvement? what's the storyline now?

i just doublechecked and it's definitely not playing anywhere in new york city.

i've said from the getgo that it's the sort of trippy thing that could and probably will develop it's own fanbase. it seems like the sort of thing college kids would get stoned and watch fifty times. and it's certainly the stuff of the old "midnight showing".

and despite the rejection and even outrage it created in the existing DS fanbase it will probably do well with that group in the DVD market as well. especially if it contains deleted footage and other extras.

i suspect it will have a substantial afterlife.

i had no idea that AG's burke was so unpopular...

i will say this. i felt that with burke it was the last time vicki seemed somehow safe and protected. after his disappearance she was totally at loose ends.

i mean jeff clark could not walk and chew gum at the same time, let alone care for another human being. vicki was pretty much toast.

for what it's worth ryan's departure was very, very abrupt. at the very least they had a storyline to finish out.

and i believe at the time of his departure frid/barnabas was still on the 'thirteen week' cycle. barnabas was the one who was supposed to end up with a stake through his heart.

it was a very uncertain, up in the air time on the series and the producers did what they thought best.

he was the rival in barnabas' romantic pursuit of vicki...

he played a very important part during that period.

like victoria's "clueless" gothic ingenue role the burke devlin character has not help up well in the post-feminist age. he's a throwback. a world class male chauvinist. but in 1967 pretty par for the course in the world of daytime television.

i didn't see him as wanting to cut vicki off from her "support system". not liz or carolyn or maggie. and when david was going off the deep end he allowed(unwisely, in retrospect)their wedding to be put off indefinitely so she could stay at collinwood and care for him until he was well.

what burke objected to, quite correctly, was vicki spending time around barnabas and at the old house. where, it should be noted, there was a coffin in the basement with her name on it. he suspected barnabas was a liar...and he was. he thought that he was involved in maggie's kidnapping...and he was. all of burke's insticts about barnabas were, at the time, correct. it's easy to forget that because of his domineering personality.

it was not until burke's departure that barnabas gradually became the series' doomed romantic antihero. but during the devlin era he was pretty much rotten.

getting very off-topic but in the film as barnabas was entombed childless and without siblings...

we do not know who the 1972 collins family is descended from for that matter. [ghost_huh]
