for what it's worth I watched the dvd with my mom(who watched the OS when she was pregnant with me)the other night and she absolutely loved it. she thought it was great...

even the explosive woof-i'm-a-werewolf climax, which drove me insane, didn't bother her. [ghost_rolleyes]

Carolyn might have dropped the ball on this 'do' but similar looks were spotted on pansy/leititia faye so nancy didn't totally miss out.

i'm not seeing much of this newfound appreciation...

just today over on one of the FB boards the subject came up to the usual wails of discontent followed by revelry at it's supposed "flop" status. i'm afraid it's created a permanent, irrevocable schism within the fanbase.

today the gripes were less the usual whiteface complaints but that the OS cameos were too brief. so they wanted longer cameos in a movie they despise anyways??? makes no sense.

pfieffer really looks gorgeous in this scene...

I was indifferent and even skeptical of her casting initially but she ended up being one of the best things in the movie.

Thanx, Gerard. Thank you. I know there are some out there that have completely given up the site. Look. I'm telling you, all I said was an opinion of the film. I don't condemn anybody that likes it. I am still a DS fan. I still eat hamburgers and drink containers of coffee with them. I swear to God you are all okay!!! Oh, the humanity...

that's part of my point. that there are those who have "completely given up" on this great, active, well-moderated site because, why???, it has taken something of a positive approach to the film is absurd and highly indicative of the irrationality of much of the fanbase in this regard. I have noticed some regular posters jumping ship after the release and I don't understand why.

again, it's no harm, no foul. so some members and a couple of moderators enjoyed the film. so what? who's being harmed? there's enough other places on the internet to bitch about the film. here it's kept to a minimum but there's plenty of other things to post about.

and really the film's only been out for about a year and a half. it still has something of an element of "newness" to it for a franchise that only has major output news about once every decade or so. it'll die down.

perhaps I was brusque...

but my point was that there is more than enough hostility towards this film floating around the internet for 10 lifetimes. the "fan" rage around it is completely disproportionate. I don't think I've heard the word "travesty" used so many times in my life.

so the fact that this particular board has taken a moderate, even somewhat positive, attitudes towards it is no harm, no foul. no one is being done a disservice and the hysteria is being kept at a low boil.

and if one looks around most of the posting really does pertain to the OS more than anything else.

that's not entirely accurate...

you didn't just express an opinion but demanded an explanation and it seemed like an apology.

which is why I thought it was a bit of an overstep. and i'm plenty "chilled".

as I recall morgan and bramwell were both so grating and obnoxious it was impossible to root for either of them.

remember all the wild speculation when the clip of Roger and an unidentifiable blond lady locking lips made the trailer???

was it Angelique? Vicki? or even the rather grotesque suggestion that maybe it was Liz???

but it just ended up being an extra. [ghost_rolleyes]

Didn't Maggie wear a maxi in one of the Summer of '70 storyline's eps? Or was it a midi? Or maybe I'm confusing her with Carolyn.

absolutely...

back in the day I actually posted an entire topic on the hemline drop of 1970. Maggie gets a couple of full-fledged maxis during the summer of 1970 episodes. Carolyn gets a midi, as mentioned, at the picnic sequence.

I recall at the time finding this drop to be quite visually jarring.

672
the reason I posted this is because it is very evocative of a much-discussed, well-worn maxi Maggie wears frequently on the series.

most of the time Maggie wore a mini. a midi comes to mid-calf.

Calendar Events / Announcements '13 II / Re: Lara Parker's NYC Book Signing
« on: September 10, 2013, 05:42:06 PM »
although i'm not a fan of lara's DS fiction I had planned on attending this event. I enjoy the "mini festival" atmosphere of these types of events whether I really want the actual product being pitched or not and have attended several of KLS's book launches at this location.

unfortunately a health situation kept me away. a friend graciously offered to stop by and pick up the book for me but I declined. sorry to hear they ran out of books but glad it was a well attended event and great to hear that marie is up and about and in good health.

although I doubt Maggie could afford a ninety-five dollar skirt with all those dime-tippers. [ghost_wink]

I saw this piece online and although not quilted and quite as heavy as that that keeps maggie evans warm on cold collinsport nights it looked familiar...

although i doubt mags wears a "large waist" anything either.
