still the cast was generally so static the occasional appearance of an outside "day player" was always notable.

I recall little about the ill-fated miss friedlander except that carolyn spent most of the episode talking smack about her "friend".

she basically invited her to the house and then told everybody she didn't actually like her. it was very weird.

those are OS actors.

will any of the 91 actors be in attendance???

Yes, as much as I loved Twin Peaks, a lot of the second season (without Lynch's full involvement) was meandering and pointless.

the 24 episode orders common for network shows at the time were really more than the premise could absorb. that's one of the reasons the short first season was so brilliant. it's much ore suitable for the 13 episode seasons typical with Netflix/cable shows today.

as we saw clearly exhibited with Depp Shadows "fans" are persnickety customers...

without Lynch most of them will not "accept" this revival. it's validity will be in question forever.

without lynch on board it's doomed out of the gate.

they'd spare themselves a lot of aggravation and unnecessary expense by just shelving it now.

it's evocative of DS in it's "period" costuming...

somewhat historically accurate clothing with "contemporary" beauty trends. the hair and makeup is very "now". and certainly nothing like a "puritan" woman would have worn.

those "classic moments" are a bit heavy on Kathy Cody for my taste...

but it's nice to see Donna Freidlander and Leona Eltridge getting their due.  [snow_rolleyes]

this is great news...

despite complaints about how 'old and unoriginal' the format is I'm all for the return of the big, hotel bound 3 day fest for the big 50th anniversary. 'cruises' and weird one day mini-events out at Lyndhurst are not my thing. and really how many more times are they going to be able to gather the cast for this type of thing???

I know it's too much to ask but how dreamy would it be for a certain ingenue to board a train out to Tarrytown for the anniversary of her debut (I won't be disappointed when it doesn't happen).

look forward to it!

yes as it turned out tad and carrie had virtually nothing to do with what actually transpired in 1840. they only appeared in a handful of episodes in fact.

the series is littered with the remains of half thought out, changed or completely abandoned plots...

the Portia Fitzsimmons character/plot was never really intended to "go anywhere".

it was a means to an end. it was just a setup for Sam to try and get his paintings back from Roger for the "show". I can't recall the exact turn of events but it ended up bringing to a conclusion (rather anticlimactically, I might add) the big "manslaughter" storyline than launched the series. Burke and Sam got a confession out of Roger and that was the end of it...

another hastily abandoned plot I can recall was in 1968 when Willie gave Maggie a pair of Josette's earrings that causes her to behave strangely, forget things, and was I think supposed to be a setup for reestablishing the Maggie/Josette "connection" after 1795. but after a few episodes it was dropped and never alluded to again.

I've never come across anything close to the simmering rage directed at the Depp film with the revival or any of the more recent spinoff media...

I've seen attitudes of dislike or indifference but nothing like the lynch mob mentality aimed at the film.

I wasn't around when the 91 series was happening.

but today most fans seem to hold it in pretty high esteem given it's "seriousness".

I don't see that happening with the movie. it's like picking a scab even mentioning it.

I haven't attended the fest (or "cruise") type activities since it's release but from what I understand it's pretty much verboten.

viewers unfamiliar with the original source material probably saw it as a typical Burton cartoon romp. they had no reference point.

most "fans" like their DS serious with a capital "S".

still the continued anger seems disproportionate.

the rage and hostility it still engenders almost 3 years later is astonishing...

simply post an image, or even a passing reference, on most of the boards and one can fully expect a nuclear meltdown complete with biblical language like "travesty" and "abomination" and fury about what a "mockery" it made of the material.

I've never seen such childishness.  [snow_rolleyes]
