miss winthrop, i'm not sure of the ep.# but the look in question appears in o.s.v.52.i was quite taken aback...it's so 80's. :-*
patti, we are still talking about "maidens",but it was pointed out i spelled it wrong on the previous thread.it's probably still wrong ::).

i loved the outdoor footage.i always thought it was so funny that the actors would be wearing different cloths in them than in the interior shots around them.i thought the exterior shots were used only in the very early eps.,so i was surprised to see exterior shots of carolyn and david after the barnabas intro.but they seem to totally disappear once the show switches to color :'(.

the show's costuming always has me up in arms.in the past i complained of vicki's limited wardrobe.but in the eps. i watched over the weekend vicki dons a lovely new tomato-red(yes,sleeveless)dress with a black patent belt and full skirt! it's a new silhouette for vic..julia continues to please in finely tailored looks.but the prize went to cassandra.after a psychedelic caftan moment, she appears in a very 1980's looking ensemble of a short purple skirt and cropped, shoulder padded poppy-red jacket.with her glossy black wig she looks for all the world like joan collins. :-*

there was a scene where
carolyn observes herself in the mirror, casually wondering to julia why she always wore scarves.she knows it has something to do with barnabas but nonchalantly writes it off...done.julia does always wear the same tightly wound scarf.it must have been a popular fashion in 1968, vampire victim or not.
but back on topic,
after the dr.lang/adam story starts, why does barnabas no longer seem interested in vicki's knowledge of his secret?
when vicki "returns" to the present from her journey into the past
barnabas becomes obsessed with the idea that she learned his secret while there.he places vicki under his spell and convinces her to go away with him so she will never reveal what she may know.en route to said getaway they get into the carcrash(my fave).afterwards the story goes foreward to dr. lang's "treatment" of barnabas.he seems to then loose all interest in vicki's potential knowledge of the past.why?
second part.once vicki is no longer under barnabas' spell, doesn't she think it odd that she was about to marry him?
::)

emeraldrose... the episodes where roger takes vicki out for the day have a few great moments! i love it when vicki walks in on liz on the phone with roger checking on her story.vicki lets liz have it!she was so spunky then.and when carolyn comes into vicki's room while she's hemming a dress..."kitten" can be so catty. :P

emeraldrose...i really enjoyed your comments on these eps.please keep us posted on your thoughts.remind me,did you ever see the show before at all?or is this your first ever viewing?a lot of fans who watched the show on vhs only saw the later barnabas eps. and then saw the early ones when mpi released them later.

you guys are making me so nostalgic...these were(again)the eps. that hooked me.i remember vicki wearing her hair up in that scene where she walks into the drawing room, books in arms,to find david.wasn't he hiding behind the drapes?she was so "miss winters;governess" in those days.i think this was the first time david mentioned his mother specifically.foreshadowing of laura.i wonder if the writers knew then what laura was really going to be about? :-X

With all Roger has on his mind.....its refreshing to see him on the outside footage intro of ep #68 arriving at his office......he even seems to have waved a good morning to one of the Collins Cannery Slaves.....nice guy......and what a kewl office......complete with dartboard :P
devlin,as you go foreward with the show keep your eyes peeled for that office.you'll spot it over...and over...and over... ::)

i wonder how willie...weak and drained of blood...could explain to barnabas all of the technological advancements since his entombment.as well as the new layout up at collinwood.i wonder how barnabas felt having his old aunt abigail greet him at the door during his first visit.was abigail,so cruel and persecutorial in her life, paying her karmic dues by being reincarnated as a maid in house she was once a "mistress" in?

i only wish the "fall" would come back in style...but we are now living in another great artificial hair era.the extension!why bother with a dusty old fall when you can have someone else's hair woven right onto your head?i've seen paris hilton in person and she actually has short hair.her "simple-life" locks are all faux. :-*

i always thought that the roger/burke rivalry was wrapped up too hastily.it was just before the barnabas introduction and it seemed as if the writers knew the show was going in a new direction and wanted to tie that plot up quickly.it was sort of anti-climactic. :-

b. had one smoking jacket-the black and grey brocade i believe-that he wore during the 1795 eps. as well as present day.the show had a rather low wardrobe budget. ::)
