so true...although early victoria winters will always remain my favorite character from the show her time in prison during 1795 was the beginning of wishy-washy storylines for her that continued until alexandra moltke made the decision to leave d.s. :(.

stefan,

i can think of one reason why the nathan/millicent story didn't really work.
it wasn't effectively woven throughout the fabric of the entire storyline.it seemed sort of tacked-on towards the end when most of the other elements of the plot were played out.they weren't really critical to the telling of the story as a whole.i certainly don't know this as fact but at the time i got the impression that since nancy and joel were contracted players the writers needed to create characters for them.

and vicki had some good stuff to do during the earlier part of the story but once she was in jail and falling for peter bradford it was snoozeville. :P

because i watched it over a year ago i tend to view the entire 1795 story through rose colored glasses.
but when i do think back on it i remember finding the tail end rather dull.most of the main players get killed-off.nathan/millicent and vicki/peter were pretty weak as well.and i remember towards the end wanting the story to return to the present(careful what you wish for).

but naomi's final scenes were some of the best ever on the show and the story redeemed itself in it's final episodes.

and clarice blackburn as abigail collins blew me away throughout the entire plot.love her!

roger:"barnabas...liz has escaped from wyndcliff and i'm terribly worried!are you sure she's not here someplace?"

barnabas:"roger...willie keeps this place locked-up tighter than a drum.if liz was here someplace don't you think i'd know about it?"

ooh i forgot...what would a good party be without a few "surprise" guests?
imagine vicki's delight when jeff(peter) and cassandra(angelique) arrive!

how about a "welcome home" party for vicki when she returns to the present from 1795.

to reassure vicki that she was indeed back in the year 1968 that  would be the theme of the party.

to establish the theme the collinwood drawing room could be done up a la andy warhol's factory.tin foil covered walls and silver mylar helium balloons.

perhaps barnabas could serve as a andy warhol  type host...with carolyn as edie sedgwick, maggie as viva and liz as ultra violet.maybe the velvet underground could even play.

the invitations would be a silkscreened image of collinwood done in black and silver diamond dust(very warhol).the ladies would all wear the space-age couture of courreges and paco rabanne.

brandy would of course be served but perhaps dr.hoffman could supply some more psychedelic mood enhancers. [happy10]

it would be really cool if they did the show in an updated version of the live-action toy stuff of those 1960's holiday specials.like "frosty the snowman" and "rudolph the red-nosed riendeer".

Up until Eve came into the storyline, the Dream Curse / Adam storyline sucked. DVD Collection 8 is horrible to watch from this storyline because the show never got anywhere.

I love Dennis Patrick's characters. Even though he was more better as Jason McGuire, it was great the show thought of him when casting Paul. I can't wait to get the rest of The Leviathan storyline on DVD.

i have to say that i kind of got a kick out of the dream curse storyline.it was the cheesiest thing ever but it used characters like david, sam and mrs. johnson at a time when they otherwise weren't being featured prominently.
but adam...yuck.you're right that the storyline was spinning on it's wheels until eve arrived.she finally provided a bit of resolve to an endless plot.

wow...lots of us new englanders out there!i can't post a picture because i don't have a digital camera.

i grew up in new hampshire and attended college in boston.after graduation i spent several years in san francisco before returning to new york.

in case it wasn't obvious my passion is fashion.i guess i'm what they used to call a "window dresser" at a very fancy new york department store(no,not ohrbach's!).it's fun and i get to work with alot of very creative people.in tiny ways i've tried to incorperate d.s. into some of our work.my repeated suggestion for a d.s. christmas window has fallen on deaf ears.

in a way i got into the show completely by accident.i'm not otherwise remotely interested in vampires, gothic horror, the occult, etc.i just caught a few random episodes on scifi and knew i needed to see this thing from the begining.i can assure you that i've never had such an intense reaction to any other entertainment experience.somehow this show got me hooked! i watched it but didn't really follow the plot.i had it on in the background while i read and listened to music.but joan bennett was so georgeous then that it was fine background.

i just finished "the bennetts,an acting family"btw.it wasn't something i'd normally read but i really enjoyed it.it gave me a much bigger picture of joan.before i just knew her as elizabeth.

the forum's new colors are indeed pretty.the red, brown and gray is very sophisticated.i posted this in a color(i think) to see how it will look on the new background. [blackwidow]

gerard,

that's an interesting point.i never thought about that.viewing a show once and then never seeing it again?that's such a strange concept today.i've watched some of my favorite eps. so many times i know the lines verbatim.
with a standard soap you could miss a few days(or weeks)and catch up pretty easily.but d.s. had so many dramatic plot twists if one missed more than 3 or 4 shows you'd be sunk.

considering that they thought the show would only be seen once the "cheap" special effects don't seem so bad. :P
