usually these online articles are outrageously inaccurate. this one got most of it right.

I've seen it and it definitely raise my hopes that Vanessa would not spend the entirety of the season in the throes of another breakdown.

I want her to regain her power.

whatever it is i'll be skipping it...

as a child it scared...and scarred...me so deeply my mother said she was ready to send me to a child psychologist. to this day I cannot watch a minute of it.

even now when I see Linda Blair as a middle aged woman she unnerves me. [snow_shocked]

in Reversal of Fortune her character was little more than an extra who didn't even appear in the credits...

I wonder if she'll big a larger figure in this?

has registration for the 50th anniversary fest gone out yet? in the past I feel like forms were sent out a few months in advance.

if not who can I contact to register? it's been a few years since I've attended and I'm out of the loop. what are the exact dates?

any information please.

Blair's epic "showdown" with Julia is certainly a favorite scene for many fans.

definitely one of the most distinctive players in the "stock company". a true DS legend.

RIP.

me too. I'm over exorcisms, breakdowns and hospitalizations for Vanessa. we've been there.

Green can chew the scenery to shreds. WE. GET. IT.

it's "Emmy worthy" stuff. but the character is starting to seem weak and overly victimized.

looks sensational. as always...

but I'll say it again I'm growing weary of the victimized and disempowered Vanessa. I miss the glamorous and mysterious figure from season one.

Current Talk '16 I / Re: Wish There Will/Would Be Another DS Movie
« on: February 17, 2016, 01:14:52 AM »
I really liked the film...

but in the Depp/Burton iteration I'm more than satisfied. I don't crave "more" in terms of those actors in those parts, that aesthetic, that sensibility, that time period.

and the open-ended "cliffhangers" thrown in at the last minute...Carolyn as a werewolf ("woof"), Julia and Magtoria/Josette "rising" as vampires...which were meant to leave the door open to potential sequels, didn't draw me in.

I'd always welcome a new take on the story. but the book feels closed on this chapter.

282
and I've said this before but one of the film's odder developments (and there are a LOT of them) is that after her strong opening scenes the putative "heroine" largely gets pushed into the background.

I get that there was a studio dictate to limit the running time but the Vicki character seemed to get the heaviest hand in the editing room.  [snow_huh]

283
apparently she was on a hugely popular Australian soap opera called 'Neighbors' and the cast are very big stars "down under".

284
"broke into Hollywood" maybe...

but "shot to stardom" is a considerable overstatement given both Heathcote's somewhat marginalized role and the film's overall US success. to this day I doubt most people could put a name to the face although her upcoming roster of films might change that.

still I'm glad she's doing well.

285
I know nothing about these stories beyond that it's glossy vanilla S&M...

but I'm glad to see things working out so well for Heathcote. I liked her in DS but it was obvious she fell prey to some very overzealous editing.  [snow_rolleyes]
