interesting to hear that such impressive sets are being built for the town of collinsport.

given the casting information we've been given thus far...and from the way the story has been plotted in previous incarnations...it would seem that most of the action was to take place on the collinwood estate. we haven't heard much about collinsport hoi pilloi like joe haskell, sam evans, sheriff patterson, etc. the main collins family plus vicki and julia seem to be the main players here so it will be interesting to see how the town is being used.

i can't wait to see it.

i was going out for a bikeride a couple hours ago and somebody on my block was moving and had taken several things out to the street.

there was a plastic bin of old VHS movies and in the detritus was DS DVD collection six! the nerve!

of course i already own it but i couldn't let that hit the city dump. someday an extra copy will come in handy.

the nerve! [ghost_tongue]

did anyone else get to see this?

i thought it was very interesting and not as intense and serious as some of her other documentaries.

carolyn stoddard without a glistening platinum mane...

that is a switch! [ghost_shocked]

sorry for this late posting but...

for those in the new york area the film is airing tonight(monday, may 9th)at 10:00pm on WLIW channel 21.

1537
i've sad this before but i find prentice's participation in DS to be somewhat remarkable given the times.

he appeared in BOYS off broadway for two years before doing the film so it's suprising they'd cast an actor so strongly associated with a gay situation in a daytime soap at the time.

1538
it is sad but at this point it doesn't surprise me. for whatever reason it seems like ABC wants to get completely out of the soap business.

in terms of their overall programming maintaining a single soap in a world of "talk" and "lifestyle" really doesn't make sense. still i hope it's not true.

1539
has it been confirmed that vicki will be a waitress or are we still going on the old "variety" postings?

with david on board and a much younger carolyn i would have thought they'd need a governess up at collinwood.

1540
i disagree david...

this is getting very off-topic but i don't know any gay men who live with the level of fear, shame and self-loathing the characters did in Boys.

and we certainly don't live with the same constant threat of arrest they did in 1969. not that there still isn't major progress to be made in this area but there has been significant change.

with the inclusion of a young barnabas i wonder if the intention here is to have Depp "launch" a DS franchise and then movie into a 'twilight" type series with Mcdonell in the lead as a teen heartthrob.

i forget...

where does one find the "robservations slideshow"? when i go to the robservations board i can just find one picture not a full slidehow.

the photograph of ruth and louis really sends me back to my childhood(yes,i watched soap operas as a child). something about these fancy rich people in big houses with uniformed servants captured my budding gay imagination.

if i recall the plot correctly edmonds played some sort of travelling carnival riffraff who poses as a gentleman to land the town's grande dame phoebe wallingford.

warrick in this tale occupied something of the same space joan bennett did on DS. they were cut from the same brocaded cloth. caftan clad, bejeweled and ambitiously coiffed matriarchal figures portrayed by actresses from hollywood's "golden age". "regal" is what they were going for. they're greatly missed.

1544
i haven't followed either soap in many years but i was still heartsick about it. they were a big part of my childhood.

because of the shows' daily, serialized nature a single thread of continuity can be traced back to the very day they premiered. that's history.

other networks have been scaling back their soap offerings for years but ABC seemed committed to the genre. hundreds of people are going to be put out of work. this is very sad.

and for those in the new york area the film is airing this thursday, april 14th at 8:00pm on PBS channel 13.

i'll be watching.
