does anyone have this yet?

according to collinwood.net alexandra isles is interviewed. i'm curious to hear what she has to say about the character she created over 40 years ago being reprised for the big screen. she's usually pretty mum on the whole thing except a few dvd interviews.

her remarks are generally the same..."joan bennett was wonderful", "vicki was dumb", "thayer david and clarice blackburn were great actors"...so hopefully she'll have something new to add to the conversation.

continuing the off-topic-ness i never really noticed davis' mauling of other people's hair until one dreadful vicki/jeff moment in 1968...

alexandra is wearing that neat, tidy side pigtail thing she wears in 1968 and davis completely destroys it in an embrace. ruins it. it's a mess. [snow_sick2]

by the time of the jeff clark storyline vicki doesn't wear the updo anymore but it probably would have held up better.

i read the fangoria article and it really doesn't seem like the film is to be a comedy.

perhaps the trailer was simply edited that way for test marketing purposes.

speaking of miss heathcote have we not heard a peep from her in many months?

funny the different routes the actors are taking with this project. chloe moretz and eva green haven't shut up for one minute. pfieffer and hbc have been quite vocal. obviously depp has had much to say.

of the principle cast heathcote, jonny lee miller and jackie earl haley have been nearly mute. i wonder why?

thanks patti,

they air these ghastly new "lifestyle" shows in my employee cafeteria and they have all the charm and personality as an infomercial. gross!

1236
so if i'm understanding this correctly the film is just being scored now?

it's being released in 3 months. isn't that cutting it close? [snow_huh]

from the few pix we've seen i'd say the hairdos are the one false note in terms of the film's costuming.

none of them say "1972" to me. in fact green's hair looks very much "2012".

except HBC's helmet head they could all really pass for contemporary hairstyles.

p.s. the picture is now up at collinwood.net as well.

indeed it looks like depp is sporting barn's signature "smoking" jacket for elegant at home wear.

green looks like she's wearing a blazer. then again she is a powerful "lady executive" in this variation on the tale. [snow_wink]

over on kathy cody's FB page someone just posted a GREAT picture of depp and green that we haven't seen before. it's from a blog on tumblr.

very confrontational looking.

and i think we can put more currency in what grahame-smith had to say than what someone who saw a 30 second trailer's account of it is.

what he had to say sounds more like what alot of people are hoping for.

1241
whatever the movie turns out to be i certainly won't find myself to be "insulted".

none of this is personal.

sorry cb it's more all of the FB and other internet chatter depp's pale appearance has generated...and the relentless negativity surrounding it...that prompted my comment than your remark.

i'm just stunned at how much chatter it's still getting and how upset many people are about it.

people get killed and there's blood on television every night. so a pg-13 rating certainly doesn't mean no one will be killed. [spoiler]in fact we've already heard otherwise if the earlier spoilers are to be believed.[/spoiler]

and we've already seen blood in the shot of barnabas raising a bloody hand.

"soap operatic" and "absurdist" sure sounds like the tone of the series to me. and "heightened and grand"? what's not to love? if i could beg a guess it sounds like the tone of the series in exactly what everyone is going for because ask most people about the OS and they will tell you how "funny"(or, yes, even "campy") it is.

"we" take it seriously. "we're" emotionally invested. but most people will find it highly amusing.

what i think we all know is that this isn't 1991 redux. it's not a bodice-ripper.

also if barnabas is pale for half the movie or a third of the movie or all or none of the movie who the heck cares. why is everyone so worked up about this point still. [snow_huh]

and if the fest is in august during a particularly sweltering day perhaps a fireside fashion show featuring the heaviest of felted wool coats and scratchy mohair suits...

accessorised naturally with a low, squat, square toed shoe. [snow_wink]

this is too funny...

gothick i like your suggestion for a "not my bag" workshop...perhaps nancy barrett could contribute with a special discussion on carrying a purse around in your own house and how to handle one's emotions when dealing with that special stepfather-to-be. [snow_rolleyes]

and no seminar on comportment courtesy of dr.julia hoffman would be complete without detailed instructions on how to answer the telephone with both hands. [snow_tongue]
