i just don't recall ever hearing about a third barnabas until this.

in the early publicity i thought it was mentioned that it was macdonell's teenage barnabas who left england with his parents. not a 6 year old.

still hearing recently that the entire 18th century sequence was just about 8 minutes it stands to reason such a character was not required.

1052
that's unfortunate for mcdonell to be sure. i though he was brought in, like miss moretz, to appeal to a "young" viewer.

funny we never heard a peep about yet another "young barnabas" before this. perhaps it was just decided that to make the character younger as an adult he needed to be very young at the outset rather than a teenager. [ghost_undecided]

has it been mentioned already that it looks like thomas mcadonell has been removed from the IMDb cast listing?

there is a listing for a 'justin tracy' as "six year old barnabas".

what up?

i have a MAJOR question about "spoilers" after the film opens next week.

obviously we are not all going to the see the film on the same date and time. i imagine many of us will see it opening weekend but still.

so what does that mean in terms of us discussing specifics about the film? does every relevant plot point need to be hidden in the "spoiler box"? that's going to make for cumbersome posting.

is there going to be a topic specifically set aside where those of us who have seen the film can discuss it openly and those who have not yet seen it can just avoid until they have?

so HBC doesn't like DS...

who cares?

just because we like it doesn't mean everyone has to.

And if you want to avoid a lot more spoilers than that, don't read the link I provided.  It gives a good deal away, including an interesting note about a character no one imagined would appear.

a "note" about whom?

i didn't see anyone mentioned we didn't already know about. actually most characters are not even mentioned by name.

i believe a glimpse of the controversial scene in question is actually in the trailer and alot of the ads...

it's actually kind of obvious. i'm not that squeamish about it.

i actually find the other joke(although i certainly recall as 10 year old boys making similar remarks)yuckier.

vicki has PARENTS??

WOW. that's really a different spin on the character. i thought the whole "orphan thing" was elemental.

and laura,too??

that's alot crammed in. [ghost_wub]

g,

i've been envisioning all day your fictitious 1967 scenario(.."upturned chins, etc"..)with great pleasure.

funny this post is making me nostalgic for the days when we just shared about our little show before the overheated dialogue over the film sucked up all the energy.

cody had been complaining bitterly for weeks that so much money is being spent on the movie premiere her expenses to the fest are not being covered.

has something changed?

i'll also add that this isn't an "either/or" situation for me...

if another producer/director came along and reinterpreted this in a very dark and sinister way and it looked as well produced as this i'm sure i'd be very excited for that too.

i'm very open to variations on the theme. this just looks fun to me. that's why i've been defending it. not because i don't want or wouldn't welcome a much darker spin.

nicely said gerard...

of course the dirty little secret that those hardcore "horror fans" don't want to admit is that 'dark shadows' was a soap opera.

to paraphrase someone at another board "general hospital with vampires and velvet drapes". [ghost_rolleyes]

good god claude...

la powell and la hall in the same episode? the screen would positively self combust out of sheer fabulousness!

one of my regrets for the series is that while technically grayson got to work with diana millay as magda during the 1897 arc the good doctor hoffman never got to go head to head with laura collins.

can you even imagine the showdowns?

oh and could "silas clarney" possibly be more of a DS-ish name for a character?

actually it sounds like some weird character from the ross novels a la professor veno.

still i'm somewhat saddened lee's not playing malloy.
