I thought The Briscoe was HAWT in that white turtleneck.

Ain't it somethin'?! HAWT FOX!

Caro was too shrewd to let Chris go further than second base (lucky gal).

Lucky she got to hit a double with The Briscoe, but not too shrewd to deny him 3rd base, what with his owning the tongue legends are made of.

Too bad there was no scene of Chris lounging around the Cottage in a lurid bikini-brief bit of shorts--and nothing else!

We can still dream, Goth... and cherish those few shirtless moments of Don we were given.

Since Chris and Carolyn each declared their love, I pose the question: had Carolyn "put out" for our wolf-boy previously? Are we led to infer they "did the deed" on a non-full-moonlit night? Would Chris' sexual prowess be influenced or enhanced by his alter ego? If those cottage walls could talk..

2 great episodes, save the hammy antics of Roger Davis. I especially like the witty rapport between Professor Stokes and Julia. And as for Chris assuring Julia that Carolyn need only a few weeks to get over him, well... it's been 35 years since this episode originally aired, and some of us are STILL not over the smoldering studliness of Don Briscoe.

Ahhhhhh, I can die now.
Heather, these are the utmost! I'm in Briscoe/Grayson heaven - and I actually watched a few of these episodes last night, in honor of Grayson Hall's birthday.
Cool, cool, cool - and now I see why the Briscoe tongue has developed its own cult following.
Sandor very satisfied. Thank you.

Bring it on, Heather! Do what you can: I woke up needing a major Briscoe fix, and adding insult to injury, I have no java to put into my Julia Hoffman-holding-the-hypodermic coffee mug this morning.
Whatever the outcome, your efforts deserve high praise.

Naturally, Nancy Barrett enjoyed her scenes in today's episode, what with the fabulous Briscoe tongue making its long-awaited reappearance. Has anyone asked Ms. Barrett at the conventions if Don Briscoe was the best kisser of her male co-stars?
But in the context of the story, poor Chris & Carolyn: so hot as a couple, yet so doomed to never be.

Great episodes - I agree the latter one is more gothic(k) and haunting in black and white. And Don Briscoe doing the daily voice-over is always a treat ("...but there is no serenity within its walls..."). But my favorite is when Julia Hoffman whips out that Duncan yo-yo... er... medallion to hypnotize Chris, and is suddenly hit with a coughing fit. Almost looks like they cut the scene right after, as Grayson probably quipped, "I'll never put him under sounding like George Burns!"

I always felt one of the more suspenseful yet important elements of the show was Barnabas continuously having to hide his supernatural "secret" from Elizabeth. I'm proposing an unexplored subtext, but here goes:
Barnabas blamed himself for his mother's suicide (upon her discovery of his nocturnal hang-up in 1795), so perhaps in seeing Elizabeth's resemblance to Naomi, he subconsciously thought "Well, now it's 1967, and while she's not my mother, she's a dead ringer, and I vow not to repeat the same guilt, shame and tragedy with her - if I can avoid exposure in this century."
If the writers had allowed Elizabeth in on the secret of Barnabas, as they had Julia Hoffman, certainly Joan Bennett would have risen to the challenge. But then the ever-present dread of "Oh, wow, don't let Barnabas' entire family turn against him AGAIN when they learn the (gulp) truth" would have been compromised.
The premise as played out allowed us to fear for Liz (premature burial, werewolf attacks, possession by Leviathans), while still cheering for Barnabas to be loved and accepted by the family that let him down centuries before.

Good god!  She has a neck . .who knew?!

Tom Jennings knew that neck... intimately. He didn't call her "Jooooooolia" for her taste in tweed.

Would love to be a fly on the wall of that cottage's back room.

Good call, Robin, on these episodes being the "Best of Briscoe" - his scenes with Frid in the secret room were both flawless and poignant. This storyline made me love Barnabas and Julia all the more, as their efforts to help Chris redeemed their often-detached attitude towards Adam.
Notice in the next episode, when the scene of Julia and Barn following Beth into the cottage is replayed, Chris is no longer wearing his groovy blazer as he lay collapsed on the floor.

MB, you made my day!
It inspired me to drag out my old issue of 16 MAGAZINE from October 1969 - featuring the article "Don Briscoe Invites You: 'Come To My Pad'" - where he is seen with open shirt, reading a book entitled "Love's Body" as he poses on the floor of his tenement flat. Classic!

Midnite is a true DS Diva!
I had the pleasure of meeting her at the DS Con a few years back when it was held in California, across the street from Disneyland. I was salivating to join the Forum at the time. Now I can get my Grayson Hall & Don Briscoe fixes 24/7, yet I always give Midnite her "props" for making such a luxury possible. Thank you, friend!
Love, Sandor

Hi, MB-
Any chance the upcoming conversion to the new system will allow forum members using "Opera" for their internet browser full access to the site? I had to drop MS Internet Explorer as my computer got viciously hijacked every time I logged into the Net. Now with "Opera," I can back into the Forum (after being told I'm entering it illegally), but am denied view of the Home Page Collages and other posts for "security reasons." Thanks for any advice or reassurance.

Hope you're having a great birthday, Gothick, and may the Bond of Briscoe be with you during your celebration.

CHRIS J.: Dr. Hoffman, those pills you gave me just aren't strong enough...

Always, SANDOR
