One of my DAYTIME TV magazines from '73 mentions that Henry Kaplan was directing "All My Children" at the time. Since Henry had also directed DS and seemed to work well with Grayson, I wonder if he got her the gig.
I vaguely remember Grayson's character had something to do with Erica, who was in New York working as a model (and yes, the fashions were "courtesy of OHRBACH'S").

I agree with Midnite: Hofstede's "Dark Shadows Video Reviews" is quite entertaining (he rates each of the 200 MPI videotapes - 1/2 to 4 stars, including witty recaps of the storylines). He seems to favor the 1795 period, scoffs at much of the Leviathan period, but his prose is so knowing and wry, it's a fun read, even if you disagree with some of his ratings (i.e., he gave MPI Volumes 67 & 68 only 2 stars respectively - the "Tom Jennings luvs Julia Hoffman but Barnabas won't have it" segments. Grrrr! They deserved 3 stars, just for the presence of Briscoe).

Yeah, as a kid, those Leviathan episodes were quite disturbing (I used to play with my own version of the Naga box...) and as an adult they seemed campy and forced. But I stuck with the show until Hallie Stokes showed up. I always blamed her for replacing Amy, who subsequently turned into a giant blueberry in "Willie Wonka."

BARNABAS: Oh, Julia... how can this be? I survived the Dream Curse, only to come down with this insufferable allergy to Ohrbach's tweed! Can you ever forgive me?

JULIA: I can always slip into something more flammable... er... comfortable, Barnabas.

JULIA: ...Uh... Quentin, dear, I can feel your hand back there. Remember, you're not a ghost anymore... it's live, not Memorex.

Grayson on the beach - in a bathing suit - lusting after Stacy Keach. I still blame Barnabas for pushing her to this low level....
And movie critic Leonard Maltin gave this flick  a 3 1/2 star rating (!?), while only giving "House of Dark Shadows" 3 stars? Amazing.

MAGDA: Oh, noooo... Barnabas bit a Jehovah's Witness! I warned them not to come knocking after sundown!

The first Laura storyline also redeemed little David, who had started out in the show as such a rotten brat, a la "The Bad Seed." It also gave Vicki a chance to play heroine versus victim, and cemented the bond between governess and charge.  Was glad when Laura came back later in the series - you could tell Diana Millay loved playing that part.

JULIA: I'm sorry, Mr. Clark, but I'm not going to sit on your lap. I only play "Santa" with Barnabas.

TIM SHAW: ...Uh, Aristede, you're very flattering, but you're just not my type. Besides, you've got the breath of a rabid jackal.

ARISTEDE: Aw, c'mon Tim... at least I'm the real thing, which is more than you can say about Amanda Harris.

Current Talk '05 I / Re: Witchcraft in Dark Shadows

One of my favorite moments dealing with witchcraft on DS was when... sigh... I feel a "Spoiler Text" comin' on...
when Angelique (posing as Cassandra) LOST her powers after betraying Nicholas in the Adam storyline.
When Nicholas hands back her clay voodoo doll, and eggs her on to "try it," poor Angelique looks so pitiful upon realizing her good thing has come to an end. "I can't..." she nearly sobs, her brunette wig askew, her powers gone. Then Nicholas proceeds to smash the clay into a ball, and tosses it playfully as he heads upstairs, leaving Angelique to her mortality.
A classic DS moment!

Yes, Connie, you've met your match in the fabulous Heather and her classic captions.
Waiting anxiously for Grayson pics from her stints on "Route 66" and "The Girl From U.N.C.L.E." to mingle with Julia & the DS gang. Stefanie Powers, meet Magda Rakosi. George Maharis, meet Hoffman the PT housekeeper.  "Pepe" and "Judith Fellowes," meet Charity Trask as Pansy. The possibilities are endless (and frightening)...

BARNABAS: Ben, where did you stash my Viagra?! I'm meeting Josette in an hour.

BEN: I...I'm sorry, Mr. Barnabas... I thought it was a laxative, so I took all them blue pills myself. By the way, you know where I can find your sexy Aunt Abigail??

BURKE: Well, Dave, I guess we can rule out our suspicion that Barnabas was growing dope down here.

BARNABAS: Just for the record, it was Dr. Hoffman's "medical marijuana"!

Ring, ring....
MRS. JOHNSON: (answers phone) Hello. Collins residence...
BART SIMPSON: Uh, yeah, do you have a hairy johnson?
MRS. JOHNSON: Yes, yes, as a matter of fact, I do have a Harry Johnson.
BART SIMPSON: Gee, lady, then maybe you should join the freak show in the circus. Hyuck, hyuck, hyuck...
MRS. JOHNSON: (seething) Why, you little.... (slams down the phone)

Talk about Dr. Guthrie karma.... in that Perry Mason episode with Diana Millay (Laura), her character on Perry forces a man (played by, of all people, Alan Hale Jr. from "Gilligan's Island") to drive off a cliff, causing his car to burst into flames!  Dr. Guthrie and The Skipper should have steered clear of Diana. She's great playing those ruthless blonde femme fatales.
I think John Lassell also did a stint in the witness stand on Perry Mason, but I haven't caught that one.
