Had Grayson Hall lived, I think she would have made a great Livia Soprano (Tony Soprano's acidic mother on the 1st season of "The Sopranos"). No knocks to the fabulous Nancy Marchand, who portrayed Livia, but Grayson might have been an equally memorable choice for that role.

And their song "Indian Lake" - "...Indian Lake is a scene you should make with your little ones..."

Got that 45 the same summer I started watching DARK SHADOWS ('68). R.I.P., Barry Cowsill.

CHRIS: (thinking to himself) Man, I hope the bad fashion sense and alcoholic tendencies aren't hereditary, or I'm really sunk.

David Selby attempts to show former Hullabaloo go-go dancer Donna McKechnie that in fact, he too can do a mean Jerk, Bird, Pony, Twist, Watusi, and Fly.

BARNABAS: Julia! You - here - in that flimsy nightgown!

CHRIS: You should've been here last night when I walked in and found her in a bath towel... tweed, no less.

GRAYSON to ROGER DAVIS: How many different Vicki's will we go through before you learn to stop using that teleprompter?!

323
BARNABAS: Got him! Ah, yes, Julia. What we suspected is true: Adam's wearing fingernail polish!

JULIA: Oh, Barnabas - did I fail as a mother... er... doctor??!

324
GRAYSON: I know... I know it's been 4 years since those Oscars, but Lela, it still hurts. I was robbed! Lila Kedrova and the voters robbed me blind!

325
Looks almost like a "Dr. Julia Hoffman" ornament - to be hung on all the Christmas trees in the laboratory.

326
DR. LANG: Now why did they decide to hang the teleprompter way the heck up there??!!

327
DR. LANG: I have to do another scene with Roger Davis???!!!

328
BARNABAS: What is it you hear, Julia?

JULIA: I'm not sure.... could be The Lovin' Spoonful... David's transistor radio went missing while Mrs. Johnson was making those pancakes we ate.

Ditto - the threat of Nancy Barrett being chased down by a werewolf while clad in a miniskirt and mod scarf seemed more immediate. The show that preceded DS at the time, "One Life To Live," also used fashions by Ohrbach's, so while the stories and tempo between the two series were vastly different - the similar clothing brought a thread of continuity when both shows were taking place in present day (i.e., Viki on ONE LIFE wasn't concerned about her mother being buried alive, but she and Carolyn on DS could have easily crossed paths while shopping for sweaters).

Current Talk '05 II / Re: Commercials on DVD
« on: December 27, 2005, 08:56:02 AM »
I wish someone would find Grayson's Playtex bra commercial and include that as an extra.  I think it was run during Dark Shadows a few times in 1970, so it should be on some of the original master tapes.

And someone please bring forth the Don Briscoe commercial where he's showering with Palmolive soap (or was it LifeBuoy or Dial) - and another one where he's laying on the beach smoking a Camel cigarette (or was Don a Marlboro man?).
I remember the Grayson bra commercial, and probably asked myself, "Do Barnabas & Mrs. Stoddard approve of Dr. Hoffman's moonlighting?!"
