Julia99, darling,

Hope it's been marvelous! I love your eyelashes!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

If you need a sedative after tonight's festivities, there's a spare one on Mrs. Stoddard's night table.

Love always,

Sandor

CAROLYN: Gee, this lime green sweater and matching skirt always worked its wiles on Adam... maybe tomorrow I'll wear that SILVER number for Chris.

Can I simply say.... I LOVE THIS BOOK! I plan to continue reading it on public transportation, just to see if the cover art and/or Grayson's name attracts the attention of an unaware Grayson/DS lover during their commute.  Thanks for the article, David, and RJ, where can I find the words?!! SupercalifragilisticexpiMagdadocious!

I, too, preferred the 60's storylines to the time travelling ones. There were aspects of 1897 and 1795 I enjoyed (and you often got the feeling that the cast embraced the period costumes, sets, wigs, dialogue, etc.)... after all, without 1795, there'd be no Reverend Trask or Angelique, and without 1897, we'd have no Magda & Sandor. Yet when the DS tapes first became available many years ago, I skipped the 1795 story altogether for my collection... and not just because Don Briscoe had yet to join the cast :)

Current Talk '06 II / Re: Who else loves Amy Jennings?
« on: September 23, 2006, 05:10:56 AM »
I agree that Denise Nickerson was a very gifted young actress, and because she was so believable in her role as Amy, it was easy to stay invested in her character's fate. I just wish she was given more to do in subsequent stories. I enjoyed her scenes with Barnabas, Julia, Elizabeth, and Chris especially. Some of her scenes with David could be grating, but mostly because of the writing. I always wanted Amy to get the upper hand with bossy David, but he seemed to generally run the roost.

My favorite Amy scene was her first, when Chris comes to see her at Wyndecliff. From the moment the buxom nurse warned Chris, "She's very disturbed!" I said to myself, "I think I'm gonna like this strange little girl. If she is disturbed, she'll fit right in with all these grown-up DS characters." And she did!

Don Briscoe reacts to the latest prank from the stagehands: a teleprompter with the script written in pig-latin.

A new DSF Goddess has risen... and she has great taste in avatars, at that! Hats off to you, Jennifer.

And whatever became of those silky blue pajamas that Don Briscoe wore as Todd in the movie "House of Dark Shadows"??! (Hi, Jen) If those went up for auction at a DS Fest, I'd be getting my credit card limit extended by cell phone!

Thanks for your feedback on the Divine One's segment, Gothick -
and I must say, the Grayson book is excellent! Required reading for any DS fan. Splendid job, RJ. A lot of quality, dignity, and heart went into that presentation, I'm sure.

Was there a video taken of this portion of the DS Fest? I must have it! I must!!! (He says in familiar "Julia" voice)

Weren't Clarice Blackburn and Humbert Astredo also on Edge of Night at one point?

I don't believe so, Gothick, unless they were one-day cameos versus a continuing character. Clarice went over to "The Secret Storm" in 1969-70, after her Minerva Trask gig. She came back to DS once during the Leviathan story, and later in the "1995" segments as Mrs. Johnson when her character on "Storm" was "killed off."

But as for Six Degrees of Separation between DS and "Edge," Lois Kibbee, who for years played dour matriarch Geraldine Whitney on "Edge," co-wrote "The Bennett Playbill" and was very close friends with Joan Bennett. Robert Gerringer's character on "Edge" tried to woo Geraldine. And Meg Myles, who co-starred with the Divine One (Grayson Hall) in "Satan In High Heels", appeared on "Edge" around 1980-82 as Sid, a gravelly-voiced tavern owner. The soap world's a small one.  LOVED me some "The Edge Of Night."  Often as disturbing and tense as DS could be.

This is fantastic. The true story of Grayson - a fascinating read to be sure. Congratulations - the book stalls will never be the same again!

JULIA: I hint about wanting a romantic night out at The Collinsport Inn for my birthday, and instead, you get me a lousy stethoscope?!

BARNABAS: Well, now that I've seen you in your sexy mod nightgown, Julia, your first idea holds new promise.

..And once again, the stand-in Barnabas hand rears its ugly head... er... palm.

Hope it's been a great day for you, Midnite. Happy, happy birthday baby - you put the "B" in birthdays (and in "Briscoe"). Will miss seeing you at the convention this year - but next time it's held in California, we'll reunite around the piano in the lobby (bubbly or Chablis in hand).
