Current Talk '06 II / Re: Does anyone besides me like Hallie?
« on: October 24, 2006, 05:22:17 AM »
i think when my friends and i were fourteen we were sneaking beer and cigarettes...not playing with dollhouses and rocking horses. [hall2_rolleyes]

My 14 year old friends and I were out streaking! It was 1976, and streaking was the rage (in California, not Collinsport). However, we'd all put our clothes back on and come inside to watch "Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman" and the first syndicated run of "Dark Shadows" (the early Barnabas episodes - we loved it!).

But as for Hallie, never cared for the character or the actress. David's pal, Amy, had those spooky big brown eyes and seemed better cast for a show like DS than the wispy blonde Hallie.

Current Talk '06 II / Re: Poor Magda sure put up with a lot of abuse
« on: October 24, 2006, 05:08:30 AM »
Magda was a tough and proud gypsy, but yes, she had her fill of getting grabbed, slapped, pushed, shoved... one episode stands out in particular: Petofi catches Magda slinking into the Collinwood foyer from the kitchen quarters (in the process of helping Quentin), and after twisting her arm and menacing her, Petofi gives her a huge shove to the side! We literally see Grayson Hall FLY out of the scene as she lets out a classic Magda-esque yelp.

Hopefully the wig, layered clothes and pancake make-up helped cushion the many physical blows she received.

Current Talk '05 I / Re: Date, Marry or Dump!
« on: October 20, 2006, 03:30:29 AM »
THE DS WOMEN:
Date = Carolyn (best dancer, best hairstyles)
Marry = Julia (loyal and has her own mental hospital)
Dump = Vicki (loves to travel... but only to the past)

THE DS MEN:
Date = Quentin (the sideburns have to go)
Marry = The Jennings brothers (we're sending Amy to boarding school, guys)
Dump = Jeff Clark (dig up Peter Bradford's grave and put Jeff six feet under)

A candid backstage moment when KLS opens her latest paycheck from Dan Curtis Productions!

All of this could explain Julia's lack of an extensive wardrobe (I mean, how many times did we see her in that same green tweed suit?!) - she couldn't afford an Ohrbach's charge card... all her money was going toward malpractice insurance premiums!!

But giving the gal her due, she declared several people were dying (Chris Jennings at one crucial point), and normally tried to save them.

Hope you had a great day, Buzz - did Carolyn put a few dimes in the jukebox and play some of your favorite tunes, man?!

J: Yes, um...uh...I *did* know your brother Tom (check's Chris' package).  So...you want to go out sometime?   >:D

Nice one, Buzz!  [hall2_wink]

CAROLYN: My, my, Chris, looks like yours is even bigger than Adam's was!

CHRIS: (thinking) I'm pretty sure she's not referring to my appetite.

CHRIS: Ouch, don't pinch the pecs, Dr. Hoffman!

JULIA: Chris, please - it's part of my examination - even Barnabas had to endure such probings when he was my patient, right, Barnabas?! Barnabas?! Oh, he's having a flashback as I speak!

...And what's in Julia's black bag? Spare garter, sedatives, silver cross, wooden stake and hammer, stethoscope, nail polish (great for runs in pantyhose), hypodermic needle, compact... a true doctor's essentials.  >:D

How about Susie the Collinsport Diner waitress (pre-Barnabas episodes) versus Maggie Evans (when she was sporting the blonde wig). Catfight AND food fight in the diner! Susie pulling Maggie's blonde wig off during the scuffle would explain KLS' sudden change of hairdo's in '66.

The announcement that "The role of Victoria Winters will be played by Miss Betsy Durkin." That one threw me.

Current Talk '06 II / Re: Whatever happened to Ned Stuart?

Sabrina committed fratricide and stuffed Ned's body in a hope chest... but not before shaving his head, dyeing the hair black, and using it for her own "new look."
