SABRINA: (to herself) How do I tell Ned that he & I share the dreaded "Hair Touching Curse"!? Mine turned white because of it.... so it's only a matter of time for him....

JULIA: Yes, Chris, your sense of smell is on target: Sabrina hasn't bathed since she witnessed your transformation all those years ago.

Well, anyone who threw a dime in The Blue Whale's jukebox better like the stylings of Robert Cobert (chuckle).

Chris Jennings was a Beatles kind of guy. David and Amy liked the Cowsills and the Monkees. Mrs. Johnson was secretly into the British invasion groups (she loved dusting to Herman's Hermits).

Chris: Amy! I found your Popsicle!

Chuckle! Or how about "Amy! I found your Easy Bake Oven!"

Poor Julia - Barnabas was very rough on her during this part of the legendary storyline - would have been an interesting twist if Julia had snapped and was sent to Wyndecliff sanitarium as a patient! Grayson in a strait-jacket. Grayson slowly regains her sanity. Grayson judo-chops Nurse Jackson in an escape attempt from the hospital. Grayson has a showdown with the evil Barnabas at Widow's Hill. Ahh, the possibilities lost.

Current Talk '06 II / Re: carolyn and "miss hoffman"
« on: November 09, 2006, 05:15:36 AM »
this week's slide show is reminding me of another time when things got quite catty.

in 1967 when carolyn was under a particular "influence" things sure got bitchy between her and a certain lady historian.

the scenes between the two during this period, including a particular gem where carolyn rather snottily informs "miss hoffman" that the family dresses for dinner, are among my all-time favorites. :P

Agreed. I nearly cough up a furball when watching those two go at it. Lots of subtext going on: fear, jealousy, possession, guilt, desperation... and to realize Grayson Hall and Nancy Barrett were actually very good friends off the set....

Current Talk '06 II / Re: Who was the scarier ghost, Quentin or Gerard?
« on: November 09, 2006, 05:07:54 AM »
For me, Quentin was scarier than Gerard. Yes, Gerard had the more lethal sneer, but Quentin could smile widely with those blue eyes twinkling... as he was preparing to strangle a governess with a sash! To me, that's scarier - not telegraphing your manic evil as you carry out a sinister move.

JULIA: Willie, you're delusional - no matter how good you think you look in that apron, Mrs. Stoddard is simply NOT going to fire Mrs. Johnson and hire you as the Collinwood housekeeper!

Current Talk '06 II / Re: Joan and Grayson: better than crystal meth
« on: November 04, 2006, 07:55:12 AM »
I liked the scenes between Joan & Grayson when Elizabeth was on the lam from Wyndecliff, and poor Julia was suffering the effects of her "fling in the woods" with Tom Jennings... Liz follows Julia to a crypt and crashes her clandestine meeting with Tom. Grayson Hall screams at Joan to "Get OUT! GET OUT!" with such primal fury and desperation, I worried more about Liz's safety than Julia's plight.

The Judith/Magda scenes were always fun - especially when Magda would zing the imperious Judith.

Current Talk '06 II / Re: Dark Shadows on Ice

Thanks for sharing that, Bette. Maybe we'll all live to see some Winter Olympics ice-dancing hopeful do a full routine to "Shadows Of The Night".... or even "Back At The Blue Whale." Fun!

Or even "Dark Shadows Karaoke" - I can croon a mean "I Wanna Dance With You" a la Pansy/Charity...

ROGER: This portrait is too faded to restore. Any suggestions, Julia or Barnabas?

JULIA: Give it to David - he's been wanting a new dartboard!

JUDITH: Grandmother!! We all thought you were dead! Does this mean I have to eat the crow I served my brothers... and, gulp, move all my stuff out of your bedroom?!

Then there's the kid aging trick which hasn't ever gone out of style, and DS never used that one.

Don't forget, Joey, those Leviathan brats (Alexander and Michael) shot through puberty within months. Viva Jeb!

ELIZABETH: Willie, I'm Collinsport's newest Avon Lady... and I'm here to sell you the perfect shampoo to combat that dry, itchy scalp of yours.

WILLIE: Ah, geez, Mrs. Stoddard, doncha have somethin' for Barnabas' pointy bangs instead?!
