Really want to visit Newport one of these days.  BTW, for those cousins who have made the pilgrimage, is there an odd disconnect visiting the Carey Mansion, given that the interiors don't mesh with what we fans have come to think of as Collinwood?

I think the "disconnect" is not only that the interiors don't match, but that you are also in a residential/campus area rather than some isolated hilltop away from town. Its really close up on other residences. Even the driveway isn't far off the street. For fun I had my wife recreate the famous "Vicki running down the lawn" shot. (You can see Vicki's photo on the Pink Card series.) A good way to get the feel of the place is on the Dark Shadows Special Edition DVD where Nancy gives a tour of locations. It's really quite a big structure, and I wonder how long the pool has been there. While the house is close to the bay, its not as high as it would appear on the show. I'm not sure where the breakers and rocks from the credits were shot, but it could have been nearby. The sea walk along the bay side of the homes is quite the thing misty sea dreams are made of.

Nonetheless, it was one of the best trips I've ever been on. The entire town is awesome in the true meaning of the word, not the way its usually thrown around. The collection of mansions is incomparable anywhere. They have an excellent ghost walk at night, and for other ghost chasers, the evening tour of the Tudor home Belcourt Castle is a must. I definitely felt multiple spirits there.              [ghosty][ghosty][ghosty]

PS Salem (MA) is worth the trip too!

David: I tell you Grayson, that baby looks more like Thayer than it does me.
Grayson: ALL babies look like Thayer at that age. I wouldn't worry.

This is always hard, overall I'll take 4th season from the guidelines at page top. I like the way 1897 wrapped up, the mystery of Grant Douglas, and the opening of the Levaithans as they are some of my favorite stories. Nonetheless, have you ever noticed when yoy talk about Dark Shadows to someone who isn't well acquainted, inevitably you end you describing the 1975 story? Ultimately that may be the answer and the true zenith of the series.
Then again, there was this great ghost in the summer of 1968... [gramophone]

Anthony George: I bet Dick Sargeant doesn't have these kinds of days...

Burke: Well, its a pretty tune, but I don't believe Barnabas that's its a one of a kind. See, right here it says "Copyright 1968 Dan Curtis productions. Made in China." I bet he has a closet full of these.

Great photos Criseyede, Anthony I guess never liked getting a hair stylist. That hair looks almost as anachronistic for a WW2 period as it did for 1795. Roy Rogers rules!

Burke:(thinking to himself) "Now what get outta Dodge line can I use with Vicky that I didn't use with Carolyn, I know I used the I have an early meeting in Bangor, hmm, how about I can't use someone else's toothbrush..."

Amy: Julia, I heard you and Barnabas talking, and I don't know much about guns but that looks like a 1937 Colt 38 Snub nose and Jesse James was killed by an 1875 Colt .45 revolver commonly known as the Peacemaker.
Julia: Damn Ebay!

Having borrowed plot ideas from every Universal and AIP film available, Dan attempts  to crib ideas from Santo movies...
Barnabas: Tomas que el vampiro es muy terrible!!!

Julia: And you're sure this the same gun that killed Jesse James? I paid over $400.00.
Barnabas: Would Ebay ever mislead us?
