I believe the next record is Glenn Miller's String of Pearls.

At long last, an episode where there’s something interesting going on. I have to admit that the last few episodes have pretty much had me bored to tears. We haven’t had any really good material since Mrs. Johnson told Maggie that her mayonnaise reeked.

In this episode we have the unlikely pairing of Roger and Vicki, a drinking game, more talk of food, Maggie flirting with Joe, new tunes on the juke, and Joe ready to punch Roger’s lights out. Did I miss anything? I don’t even mind that we’re back for a time to Sam and Roger squabbling about the coroner’s verdict. There’s just so much going on in this episode that is good stuff.

The guy that puts money in the jukebox and boogies away looks very much like a cast member from Carnival of Souls. And so does KLS with all that eye make-up.

LE & DF do a heck of a lot of teleprompter reading.

We have yet another comment on how good the food is at the Blue Whale. This time it’s sea bass. I’m not saying that a little hole in the wall dive like the Blue Whale doesn’t have great food (lord knows I’ve been in enough of them and have had some excellent food), but just who is serving this stuff? I can imagine that there’s a kitchen somewhere in the back, maybe back of the bar, but I don’t remember ever having seen a waitress in these early episodes. I guess it really doesn’t matter, since Roger blows the date and whisks Vicki away without any dinner.

(The set-up's funnier than anything I can fill it in with, Janet!)

No, I think you hit it on the nosey with this one, kiddo.

Fill in the blank:

Liz and Burke waiting patiently while Roger decided if ______ - flavored sour balls were his favorite.

David is suspicious of why his aunt Elizabeth wants to hire Mrs. Johnson--"to be my jailer?" Elizabeth says she wants to spend more time with him. Why? he asks. Because I love you, she replies. This may be the first time anyone has ever said that to the poor kid. He softens for about a nanosecond, but when Elizabeth asks him (again) not to see Burke any more, he says, "I’ll think about it. It's the same kind of decision that you’ll make when you decide whether or not to hire Mrs. Johnson to be my jailer." Yikes!

At least David was being honest with his Aunt Liz. Gotta give him credit for that.

Right now I am eating an egg salad sandwich accompanied by a container of coffee. How's that for effect?

The standout line came when... well, I forget what Carolyn asked, but Burke's response was: "I almost got elected, didn't I?"   In context, what a very mean and smutty remark, but clever!

You said you meant us no harm, she reminds him. That, my dear Carolyn, is what the politician's call campaign oratory, says Burke--it's what you want to hear--but you're not necessarily expected to believe it. And crosses her arms over her chest and says, and I suppose everything else you said was campaign oratory, too? Well, I almost got elected, didn't I?

Heh, heh...

Carolyn: No thank you! I detest the taste of ______ mixed with fruit juice!

The only thing I noticed was Vicki's clothes and hairstyle changed when she found the pen on the beach.

It looks like they rearranged the furniture in the drawing room.

Sam was extremely surprised when he saw patrons enter the Blue Whale because he had already drank up most of the liquor!!

"How many more of you are there in there?" Burke asks David, looking into the kitchen.   It really makes no sense, so I like it.   I pictured other-time Davids of all ages crowded into the kitchenette, fresh out of Burke's temporal gateway.

I didn't think of it that way, but it's pretty funny!

When the opening theme finally came, you can see someone waving her/his hand in front of the DS logo!    Slow it down, you can make out fingers and thumb...

I noticed that.
