Burke: Vicki, what are you doing, playing "step on a crack break your mother's back"? We haven't got time for this!

The number of responses on this subject is daunting and I’m having quite a time keeping up. But it’s really great to get the low-down first hand - news articles, screen caps, et al. So when someone asked me yesterday if I’d heard about the new DS movie and seen the trailer yet, I’m like, duh.
I like Johnny Depp and I’ve enjoyed a number of his films. I think his Dark Shadows will be fun, but it certainly doesn’t seem to be homage to the original show. My response to my inquiring co-worker as to what I think about the new film was, “Well, it’s certainly in league with what Depp and Burton usually put out”.

John Lasell always seems to have trouble with his lines, and he's not an interesting enough actor to make up for it.  Hmm...continuing the general trend of this post, I really should have said that he wasn't a sexy enough actor to make up for it.  Well, that too.

Even in these thrill-packed episodes, I find it difficult to watch him. I checked out IMDB and he did quite a bit of television work.

Laura could have avoided David’s interruption by doing her thing late at night when David would be asleep. And why Dr. Guthrie finds it necessary to confront Laura with his suspicions is beyond me.

.In the ending to this episode, we have the biggest difference ever between the cliffhanger and the teaser redo the next day.   Many redos have differences in how a scene was staged, how lines were acted... but here the event happens differently.   In fact, the two versions of this scene are not reconcilable, and may indicate a change in the producers' minds about what was going to happen to the Guthrie character.   Or it was just sloppiness.

You'll all probably think I'm making too much out of this.

I don’t think you’re making too much out of it. We’re here to discuss many aspects of the episodes. I don’t know the reason why they changed the ending and they seem to do this more frequently in future episodes. Sloppy, sloppy, sloppy.

I've always wondered if Lieutenant Costa's name is a reference to the Portuguese immigrants in New England. A lot of them worked in the fisheries.

A lot of them still do!

Dr. Guthrie sent Vicky roses!  I noticed that when he knocked on her bedroom door after the séance, he identified himself as "Peter Guthrie" rather than "Dr. Guthrie".  Do you think he'll start writing love poems to her?

He probably will if she keeps going around without a bra on.

Mrs. J: I'm a person that believes in minding her own business.
Laura: So I've noticed.
Mrs. J: I don't mess with what shouldn't be messed with. Leave well enough alone, that's my motto.
LOL!! I love Clarice Blackburn. She completely steals the show when she’s on. She’s got a hellova lot of dialogue here and she shines.

Is it me or does Mrs. J enjoy playing a spy?

As far as Guthrie knocking Mrs. J down, I have a feeling Mrs. J would come out the victor in that match.

For a second there, it looked like Laura might have an inkling of a bond between Burke and Mrs. J.
