Quentin soon came to realize just how much he misses the bars in the windows of Stormcrest Sanitarium.

My fave special effect on DS is the window in the Blue Whale - the wave shadows. Man, it doesn't get much better than that.

I have to go with Quentin. Has anybody ever calculated the number of brandy glasses he threw at the fireplace? I bet it's in the hundreds. He spent many a day listening to that gramophone and swilling down likker.

I, too, have a certain fondness for these episodes, particularly the one in which Sam & Burke are singing. I hadn't seen these episodes prior to Sci-Fi airing them.
It just so happens that I was heading for Cape Cod for a weeks fun in the sun during the run of these episodes. Fortunately, the cable system down thar had Sci-Fi, so I was able to watch the show that week. Yay!

Willie:  Look, Barnabas, I'm...I'm tellin' ya. I'm sorry what I said about your big ass flattening the cushion of yer favorite chair.

the plot felt like it had huge chunks missing.  You've seen it at least a couple of times, L-- does the story get any clearer with repeated viewings?

I think the film gets worse the more times you see it.
From the TCM website, "Unfortunately RKO brass and preview audiences at a disastrous Santa Barbara screening were left cold by the film's refusal to play by the traditional murder-mystery rulebook. A frustrated and despairing Renoir returned to the editing room and then reshot numerous scenes at RKO's insistence for a drastic overhaul, which probably accounts for several noticeable inconsistencies in the dialogue."

However, for me, it's always a pleasure to watch Joan Bennett.

When serving coffee to your favorite men, why not brew a big pot of Maxwell House? Good to the last drop. Right, Sam?

Julia: Oh, Barnabas, Barnabas. How I wish you would come flying through this very window. Take me under your wings...I mean, in your arms...

Liz: Miss Hoffman! You can't mean...

Julia: Barnabas, Barnabas, did you say you wanted anchovies on your pizza?

"She (Maggie) goes ahead and invites Vicki to dinner and treats her to lunch. For those who care, Vicki's lunch is clam chowder, lobster roll, and coffee."

This always kills me. Considering the cost of a lobster roll - even in 1965 - and the business that the diner does, I am surprized that Maggie would treat Vicki to lunch. I mean what is Maggie making for tips here anyway? Sheesh!

Jason: Willie, I've had it with Collinwood. Now sing along with me, "We're off ... on the road...to Morocco..."

Heather,
You did a real nice job on Julia. Excellent detail. I love the stage and curtains in the background too.
