I'm not a religious person. But I am keeping Craig in my heart and hope that he will find love and joy wherever his footfalls take him. Peace to you, brother.

I am only half way through the book and am enjoying it very much. I know I blasted Mz Parker for not researching the DS characters. But she seems to have researched everything and anything to do with the Salem trials. She has the 17th century verbage down pat, as far as I can tell. Kudos to Lara. I think she's done a nifty job here. It is my opinion that she could have done a bit better with the Barnabas character. But on the whole, her book is pretty darn good. And I can't wait for the ending that you all have marvelously hidden from those of us that haven't gotten there yet.

Amy was disgusted by David's 5th performance of "I'm a little teapot."

Last one...

Again, it's the people who keep me coming back to the Fest each year and who make it so worthwhile.  Thanks again to everyone for a wonderful time!

ProfStokes, were you keeping a journal at the Fest? Your descriptions of the events you attended are so detailed. I enjoy them very much. Any part of the weekend I may have missed; I can always count on your Fest reports to fill me in. You good kid  :D

Listened to part of House of Despair on the way into work this morning. I can't get over how much John Karlen sounds like Willie. I feel as though I have stepped back to 1967. Can't wait to listen to more. I hope Jerry Lacy will be brought in as Trask on a future CD.

Perhaps Lara was in a hurry to finish the book in time for the Fest. Watching DS episodes can be quite time consuming as we all know. In researching artwork that I've done for fanzines, I have spent many an hour watching Willie, Willie, Willie but getting to know the other characters pretty darn well too. Lara should have done her research before writing the book. But I bet she wanted it published in time for the 40th Anniversary Fest. Maybe her wallet is a little fatter now.

In '04 at Tarrytown, John Karlen seemed, to me,  much more relaxed and happy to be there than he did this year in Brooklyn.  I got the impression he was "going thru the motions" this time around.  I know his sense of humor can be acerbic....but it isn't usually grumpy.

I have no idea what the old man's problem was this year. He stopped me in the hotel lobby on my way for a butt break and insisted I walk with him. He was jovial, talked about current events, his past, family crap, and what have you. We came upon a water fountain beside the farmer's market and he insisted I take a drink. He held the water on for me and naturally turned it off when I bent down for a sip. You never know with John. He's as unpredictable as maple syrup in the spring. Anyhow, it was nice to see the old man. And by the by, he is as wicked as I am. Good luck, kids!

Wasn't the drawing room set the ultimate? We all had our pictures taken on the set. I will post a picture of myself leaning on the fireplace thing there when I get the pictures developed. But I just thought the set was the best part of the Fest. What a lovely addition to DS fandom. Mega kudoes to the person that constructed the set. I think the actors got a kick out of it too.

Current Talk '06 II / Re: What are the chances of a new Dark Shadows?
« on: September 09, 2006, 12:01:35 AM »
Myself. I hate remakes. There are so many aspiring writers out there with fresh ideas. However! I thought the new Shadows had potential. The scene where Victoria Winters is riding on the train is so powerful. A blonde Vicky? Why the heck not?
Anyway, I thought the preview trailer thing was exceptional. This from a chick that tunes to TCM on a daily basis and hates remakes.
My goodness, if you look at the crap Hollywood is churning out these days. Who wants to see a remake of every sixties show - wait...Did they do a remake of Mister Ed? Yeah, I think they did. And it flopped.
Anyhow, I think Warners(or whomever it was) did a nice job with the new Dark Shadows and I would have watched it. I am not a primetime TV person, but I would have tuned into the new DS. I thought the premise was fresh and up to date. I also think it's pretty darn neat that Dan Curtis' work lives on. Way to go, Dan! Woo hoo!!!

My roomate is reading it now. She loves it, but hasn't come to the end. Will post her opinion later. But she is enjoying it.
I am in the midst of reading the Grayson Hall bio which is just wonderful. The author did a thorough job. It takes alot of hard work and dedication to research an obscure actor and my heart goes out to her. She really did a nice job.

Now hold on, Liz. I know John is an arrogant SOB that loves pretty young girls...and why is he staying here? I meant Willie. Willie.

David Ford: Now right here is where I say, "What in the Sam Hill do you want me to paint you at night?"
J. Frid: What channel are we on? I'm all wavy!"
