It aired on the Biography Channel right after they did a show about Bela Lugosi. I didn't watch it though. Check Bio's web page. They may have a program guide. No doubt this show will air sometime this weekend or by Halloweeny anyway.

I think what the writers were trying to get across was that Magda was a lowly gypsy and should be treated as such. And Grayson Hall pulled it off superbly.

.we never even get to see where that funky louvered door leads to. [hall2_tongue]

I always thought it was the kitchen.....[lghy]

That's what I think too. There is an episode where Willie is seen carrying a step ladder through that door.

I'm sure someone must have found Thayer David sensual. He may have been a good kisser, who knows? Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, right?

I liked the book. I think it's fun that LP is interested enough in DS to consider putting a story together. Kudos to her!
I also think that it was published because of her name and association with DS. As stated before, she uses far too many adjectives, etc, etc. But I give her a thumbs up for continuing the saga and wish her the best of luck in future endeavors in this fold.
Now you want to know what I really think?

I do believe the Ronco Chopper Blade comes with the afghan - which slices, dices, and otherwise turns your dearest friends into
meatloaf. AND! If you call within the next ten minutes, you can get the complete set of Bobby Vinton's greatest hits. "She wore bloooooooo velvet....."

Whoa. Looks like my post went in Mr. Ed's compost pile.
Let it go, folks. We have mega issues overseas AND here at home.
For Christs sake! Can't we all get along???
F**k it. I'm off to watch "Leave it to Beaver".
I want to watch Ward make the Beave a happy camper...

SG is a public publication, and as such its policies can be a matter for public discussion. However, I do agree that the inference and innuendo that has appeared in a few posts shouldn't be going on and it should be refrained from in any future postings.

Thanks.  :)

Indeed. Let us all remember that we are all living on the same planet and that alot of us happen to enjoy a serial called, "Dark Shadows". This is not the place nor time to bring up political beliefs. We should be rejoicing in Craig's love for the program and his involvement. He made a difference, an everlasting one. I extend my condolences to Craig's partner and family, but Shadow Gram is a newsletter dedicated to DS.
Those of us that knew Craig will no doubt pay our respects in our own way. Okay? Everybody chill!!!

Actually if anyone wants the backstory on when and why actors at cons/shows started CHARGING for autographs, Jennifer put her finger RIGHT on the reason.  It was the example of the Sports stars -- and you can blame certain actors from Star Trek: Deep Space Nine for starting the trend with actors.

Reason I know this was that back then I worked a few weekends a year for what was then Creation Conventions, back when the events they put together were more like conventions than the arena sized shows with no fan contact with the talent which are now the ONLY thing most people know as "Star Trek Cons".  For many years actors did cons unpaid except for a per diem and travel expenses then they went to being paid, which turned their con appearances into speaking engagements for pay only, with very little interest in the fans.  Autographs were also done for no charge, even when a dealer would show up with a dozen or more that the actor KNEW they would sell for a profit.

Then , as I said, one or more (I forget the particulars and I'm not about to name names anyway) of the actors from the third Trek series, having had no experience with Fandom, considered the experience simply an engagment for pay and wanted parity with the sports stars charging for autographs.  So, Creation started charging for autographs, and photo ops.  Eventually even the old guard went along with it cause, frankly, if everyone else was being paid, and they hadn't seen a residual in years, they would have been fools not to take the money.

So, this is why the promoter run shows all charge for autographs and photo ops, and the ones like the Fest who don't are almost non existant these days.

I was a Trekker years ago. Oh, the Creation conivery.
I think the best thing about the DS Fest is that the proceeds benefit a charity. That said...thank goodness it's Alzheimer's because that is where I'm heading.

Current Talk '06 II / Re: James Hall (the 1st Willie Loomis)
« on: September 28, 2006, 01:10:31 AM »
Hall definitely had "creepy" down pat. The women on the show seemed genuinely apprehensive around him, which helped increase the tension factor. As most others have said, though, I don't believe he would ever have been able to bring the nuances of the character that John Karlen did. When I watched these episodes in the early 90s (which was the first time I saw them), I felt that the tension factor actually decreased noticeably when Karlen replaced Hall. The fact that John was so familiar -- and I knew what was going to happen with him when Barnabas appeared -- the base effect was Willie Loomis changing from an authentic threat to an old friend having a bad day. In the end it worked out for the better, but I really did relish the tangible sense of menace that Hall conveyed. At that time, he was the one human character who outshone the supernatural in terms of sheer dread. Though his acting was merely adequate, in concert with the accomplished actors around him -- particularly Nancy and Alexandra -- his scenes stand out as being very dark and fear-invoking.

What he said. Don't even go there. I talked to John a couple weeks ago, praising the old man on his performance in the House of Despair CD. His protrayal of Willie is exceptional and when I gave congrats to JK, he said that, "I AM WILLIE".
As far as James Hall goes, spare  me. He stunk. No one: but no one can hold a candle (blue or otherwise) to JK's Willie.

Sixties. Definately the best. I especially love the location shooting around Newport.
