Julia tried not to laugh too openly when she suddenly realized that the real difference between Roger and Barnabas was that Roger preferred the grandfather clock to be dusted clockwise, whereas Barnabas liked it to be dusted counter clockwise. Of course Mrs. Johnson had her own method, which was spot dusting.

Doctor Hoffman was both embarrassed and disgusted when she realized that what she thought was a candy dish was really an ashtray. Not one to resist the flavor of lemon flavored gumdrops, Doc Hoffman soon discovered she was sucking on a cigar butt.

I love the expression on Joe's face!

Yep, Joe thought, just as soon as Sam's out that door, Maggie and I are finally going to rid the cottage of that #$@!& afghan!

I have seen this couch form in several 1960's movies lately.

"Barnabas was stunned to discover the fine print on his pistol read: "Must be at least 150 years of age to operate!!"

The one other thing I'll say about this is that if you survive to be very old, you get to say what you think as bluntly as possible and to hell with the consequences.  It may not be pretty or respectable, but I see it as one of the perquisites of the very old.

That would be me...

Collinwood has to be the weirdest place on earth because every night I gaze down upon it and every night I see the Old House.

Current Talk '09 I / Quentin's Kin
« on: April 13, 2009, 03:23:15 PM »
I was thinking about Quentin enjoying the dubious pleasures of the village, I wondered who his parents were. I couldn't find anything about this, but I know I've seen it here before. I think I have, anyway.

I think the best smoocher is Quentin.
The absolute worst is faux Burke and Vickie. Watching their scenes together, one has a sense that the actors are way uncomfortable with one another. Every time I watch these scenes, I get the feeling that Alex Moltke is repulsed by Anthony, whatever the hell his name is.
I've recently read a bio on Jimmy Cagney and he said that Anthony George was a mess. It shows. I think he does a nice job as Jeremiah, but this actor doesn't hold a candle to Mitch Ryan's Burke.

Thanks for going out of your way to check out the area
and giving us fair warning of what to expect Pansity.
At least now we'll be able to plan ahead. [thumbleft]

The cost of the trip doesn't seem worth it.

Actually, the capture that inspired this topic is the one where Tony is peering through the Old House window at Barnabas sucking on Carolyn's neck.

Current Talk '09 I / Re: Actors' reaction to different directors
« on: April 04, 2009, 09:02:14 PM »
For certain, an excellect subject. If you look at the actors from days of old, certainly they had their favorite directors. Claude Rains and Bette Davis loved to work with Michael Curtiz, although he was known to be an ass.
I bet the actors on DS had their favorite directors that they preferred to work with.
Awesome subject!!!!
Kerz, you got any insight?
