ShadowGram

"Subsequently, John participated in the annual Dark Shadows Festivals on the west coast starting in 1987 and he began attending the New York area DS Fests a decade later.   At every DS event he attended, John was always a delight to be with, very open, outspoken, often teasing and yet also interested in individual people and shared experiences and ideas."

Yes, yes, and yes. He was wonderful. I had a lot of fun with John, walking through his old digs in Brooklyn, his offering me a drink from a water fountain and releasing his foot from the peddle every time I bent down to take a drink. Real funny, John. I'll miss you!
He will be missed, but at least we can be with him through his many tv appearances and movies.

Karlen was in very good spirits and stayed signing autographs until after eleven o'clock on Friday night, well after the others had retired for the evening. His problems seem to be under control. He was in a wheelchair and was accompanied by a health aide.
Donna McKechnie was a last minute cancellation. She had gotten a job elsewhere.

I am watching the question/answer session. I was so happy to see John Karlen was able to attend. God bless him!

A roughly 8 minute "in remembrance" slideshow that was shown, with some very rare photos of some of the cast, crew, writers etc.--several I had never seen before:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x6j3t9nUd_U

The only one I didn't know as John Devoe, if I'm even recalling his name properly.

Fans applaud for each photo.  The applause and shouts, cheers, etc. for some are really rather.... I got verklaempt!

It was very nice.

On the Decades Channel website there is an audio interview from the Dick Cavette Show with Jonathan Frid.

Super Lice Found In 25 States – Maine Is On The List

"Samples of the super-bug were taken from 25 different states and in Maine, 100% of the samples were resistant to OTC lice remedies."

What would Olivia have done?!  [yikes]

Ha! That's rich!

The Ryan family on Ryan's Hope ran a pub in NYC. Most of the family worked or helped out in the pub.

OK. Of the soaps watched in the olden days by my family, As the World Turns, Search for Tomorrow, The Secret Storm... I couldn't think of a one that featured a dive for plot development. Collinwood is definately the center of the universe, but when you need to hash things out, it's the Blue Whale, baby.

Missed you, JtW!

I know. I'm still around. I used to do all of my posting at work, but I can't get access there.

I was thinking about how much of DS and its characters are centered around the Blue Whale, especially in the beginning of the series. I don't know of any other soap that can make this claim to fame. Think about it.

You know, that Janet likes to think she's all bad and wicked, but, what does a 28 year old, really know about 'wickedness'?

Little girl, go back to playing with your dollies (granted, they may be poppets).

Have a wonderful day, little one :)

28? Ha ha ha ha! Times 2, Dearie.

Oh, he plays Willie too? Yeah, he's spot on with all the characters. I gotta check it out again...

I love these. Anytime I'm having a bad day, I know what will make me laugh hysterically.

The guy playing Willie has JK's mannerisms down pat.

I love when Quentin is laughing... Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha... And Edward yells at him to shut up.

I love it.

Sounds like it wasn't altogether that spectacular. Thank you so much, PS, for the detailed update.

On a lark, I spent one day last week in Essex, CT. Took some photos of the post office and the inn, and had a grand lunch at the Griswold, but couldn't find the Evans cottage.

Janet the Wicked, you could join DS Real Friends to see, as the group name suggests, several fans I'm sure you know, many from these boards.  Also, I recall a couple of Lara Parker, Sharon Smyth Lentz and Chris Pennock.

Not a member of Facebook.
I know it usually takes a little while for folks to post about the fests on this forum, but sheesh!

I've been waiting for input on this year's fest. No info or pictures yet?
