Calendar Events / Announcements '03 II / Re:Festival
« on: September 03, 2003, 12:04:37 AM »
I got home late yesterday and was exhausted even after a good 9 hours sleep last night.
I am kind of a newbie to fest ( 3 now under my belt) but I think I enjoyed this one the best but I credit some of that to the company I kept most of the weekend with many wonderful friends. Tarrytown sounds like a great place for a weekend fest retreat next year.
As far as the banquet, my piece of chicken was pretty good but I did not care of the pasta? or veggies. I think the dessert was good because I remember eating all of it but cannot remember for the life of me what is what I ate. After waiting in line for the banquet for what seemed like forever, it was nice just to sit down and eat. I barely ate all day in anticipation of my $60 dinner. When I was leaving the hotel Monday, I was talking to a gentleman who worked at the hotel and he said the dinner we had was what the hotel served at all their banquet/weddings. Renee and I splurged on dessert everyday around lunch along with a few glasses of wine here and there. ;)
I loved the skit that Profstokes was in with the Collinsport Players who are such a talented troupe. She fits in well with them and it is a joy to watch her shine among the others. Richard Halpern does a great Julia as well as a good job moving the fest along.
Renee, Profstokes and I visited Times Square Thurs evening after having dinner with a few others from the board. I think there were about 13 of us. Of course another highlight was visiting with my dear friend Minja who is a ball of energy to say the least.  [lghy] I don't know where she gets it but I love her for it.
I hope to get photos developed soon and passed on to the board.
Teresa
PS- I missed my Bruce show for this fest and when I read his message board to see what songs I missed I got a lump in my throat. He did some songs I've been waiting to hear a long time. But still I have no regrets and only happy memories

Well I finally got a new computer after mine crashed over a month ago.  I got to pop in here a few times here and there at work but not as much as I would have liked.
It may take me a couple days to get the new one all figured out. My firewall just popped up here with a warning asking me if I want to continue so that is kind of weird. I may have to check out how I set it up. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Teresa

So, in lieu of green beer I believe I will have a nice glass of merlot [8285] .

Cheers to all and Happy St. Paddy's Day! I know I'm more than ready for a little green this year!

I'm not a beer drinker and I'm about 85 % Irish. My great-great something has a farm in Ireland by the name of Mulryan's. That's my Mom's maiden name. My dad was German-Irish.
I'll join you in that Merlot!

Well, I got my tickets for the 30th and now they have added another show on the 31st. This might really cut into my fest time. :-
Does anyone know the distance between Brooklyn and Giants stadium? At this point if I decide to get tickets for the 28th and 31st I may just have to skip the fest. I cannot imagine traveling back and forth. :P
My sister is going with me and it would have been nice for her to see some of the festival but it will be a hard sell.

Someone should invite Bruce to the Festival. I've heard he was a fan!  ;D

SDP
I'm already excited enough. That might be too much if he showed up at the festival. It would be kind of cool though.

I just read the Bruce Springsteen website and he will be playing 2 shows August 28th and 30th in Giants Stadium. I will already be up there for the fest so I think it must be fate. He is playing 7 shows there in July and due to demand they added two more for August. So I am going to try for tickets for both nights and see what happens.
I may even get my sister to go with me! If she doesn't go I may have to drag one of you folks with me. :D

I still am not sure I understand this stuff karma, smite, curse yadda yadda yadda stuff but I just came home from a great trip and read some of this thread and now I feel even more worn out. Maybe I should stick to the threads that don't require so much mental energy to read through.
I'm feeling pretty good about my karma right now so that is all that matters to me! :D

I have my hotel reserved but have not decided yet for sure. Not anything to do with concerns but I was thinking about doing a really big nice vacation in the next year and might need to save up some money.
I'm thinking (just a thought right now) of doing a London theater tour and of  course there are some Bruce shows coming up soon I may just have to go to.
Of course I would miss everyone terribly if I don't make it this year so we'll just have to see. I say   don't worry about terrorist just party on and have a great time!

What, praytell, is "B&B" (other than bread and breakfast)?

Sorry to hear about all the illness people have been having.

How dreadful ... After this winter, I think you could easily hack the winters in my area ... Keep us posted.

B&B is Bold and Beautiful. I am not a regular watcher of it but thanks to Soap Opera Digest know pretty much ever character on every soap. I think that Ridge character looks terrible with his long hair.
As far as this winter goes, I am counting the days until I see my first bud. Today we had 3 inches of ice and my windows in the house are so caked with the stuff I can't see outside. Right now it is snowing and those lovely people at the weather channel say it will continue through tomorrow evening. Oh Joy!
I must be feeling better because I am having a glass of wine right now and that can of peanuts upstairs is calling my name :-)

I don't think anyone posted this yet but I've been out of the loop with the flu and have not been able to read the post much the past few days.  I saw in our daily paper's soap section today the Jim Storm will be on B&B next Tues and Wed.

If you are short on a list of names, may I suggest one of the following few:

Kittysback, Wild Billy, Sandy, Mary Queen, Angel, Arkansas, Wages, Adam, Ricky, Cain, Candy, Sherry, Jackson, Ramrod, Johnny, Trooper, Reason, Brilliant, Valentine, Janey, Rockaway, Honeymoon, Lover, Trouble, Rendezvous, Darlington, Zero, Iceman, Bobby Jean, The 'C', Roulette, Seeds, Santa Ana, Jenny, Light, Spare, Hero, Muddy, Thunder, Cali, Reward, Lucky, Pinky, Chimes, Freedom, Glaveston, Best, Joad, Balboa, Borrow, Sinaloa, Hiway, Cool, Clarence, Nils, Max, Boss...and my personal fave: Ringo![wink]  Oh yeah, Wink!

We all send good vibes in the direction of whatever the cats name will be!

Oh my God, I like how you think! We have tossed a few of those around and you came up with some I didn't think of. Actually, Ringo is a consideration. I did have to throw out the girl names. Don't want to confuse the new guy now.
Thanks everyone, the new addition has already met his siblings and hissed at them. Right now he is laying on his back with all fours straight up purring like a baby. I think I made the right choice :-)

Lots to think about but I guess I'll just take it one day at a time. I did see this stuff at Petsmart that you can spray on your cats when you are introducing a new one to the household. It's supposed to make them all smell the same.
I have been checking quite a few sites and message boards on this and found it comforting that there are quite a few households out there in similiar situations that have not transmission from one cat to another so that is incouraging.
Thanks everyone!

Thanks everyone,
I will check out all your ideas. I should mention that back in the 1980's I had a cat who was FIV + and had leukemia. None of my other cats became ill so that is what is making me feel positive.
I work in the medical field and will check out with some of our drug reps on xtralife. Cost is not an issue, my pets are my kids. In all my years of owning a pet, I have rarely had one who lived a full life without some health issue so whats another one right.
I'll get a photo of my new little guy posted as soon as he is up and feeling better from his surgery. Ouch!!
Love and thanks,
Teresa
