How tragic to hear. It is comforting that Craig has no regrets and had a life he dreamed of. Most of us cannot say the same. I will keep Craig,Joe and family in my prayers. I guess we never really know the exact time we leave this earth but I'm sure he is going to have a wonderful new journey in a much more peaceful place.

If I could suggest anything for future fests, I think some sort of screening process for the Q&A sessions would be a big help. Maybe allow people to submit questions in advance, but I guess that could get complicated. Or perhaps a "coach" to stand by the mic and make sure we don't sit through everyone's life stories before they finally get around to asking their questions?  :)

Amen brother!

That was also my first official fest. I think I have the strongest memories of that one. I have have kept my hotel receipt for some reason. It was such an exciting visit for me. I met so many new friends, volunteered that year and it was a special time.
PS- Bob you still have not bought me that beer and it has been 5 years. What gives!!  ;)

Speaking of which, pardon my ignorance, but what is "jainist"? Is there an organized worship of Allison Janney? I tried to start a cult of Julianka but my wife wouldn't let me. Like she and our friend Linda don't have one for Christopher Walken!  ;)  But seriously, to what does that refer?

How does one join the Christopher Walken cult?

I have loved reading all your posts about the Fest--thanks so much for the descriptions and pix! Because I am mostly confined to bed on a ventilator, the computer and DVD/VHS are my main sources of pleasure. I have all the DVDs out so far and a complete set of the Collectors VHS tapes. I LOVE DS! So glad to meet all of you online, and so enjoy all your comments. Thanks for making my day(s)!Q: Any info on when the 2007 Fest will be? If it is wheelchair accessible, there is a chance my hubby and I could make it, with lots of preparation--I can only be up an hour or so at a time, but might be able to see some of the things there?
I think you would find it very wheelchair accessible and that many of the fest volunteers/fans go out of their way to help those who might need special care or arrangements. I think it would be a wonderful exciting weekend for you. There is down time in case you need a break to eat or just rest.

Thank you all so much for your prayers. Emmily passed away this morning at 11:00 am. Her father called to let us know they will be bringing her home for a service on Sunday. I feel like I am in shock or a dream. I appreciate all your kind words and they have helped me get through the past few days.
God bless you all.

Then I asked her how much the pictures that she had were.  She told me, but then pointed to her book, "Dressing the Man You Love:A Woman's Guide to Purchasing, Coordinating and Caring for His Classic Wardrobe" and I grinned and said, "Sorry, Betsy, but I don't have a man to dress."  And she looked at me and very sincerely went, "Well, originally I was going to try to include a man with the book but it didn't work out."  LOL!  I LOVE her!!!

Sweet and a good sense of humor. What a gal!!

I thinik he is the sweetest man alive and sometimes just likes being boisterous (spell?). In Anaheim 04, he sat with me at my breakfast table ( he invited himself) and I fell madly in love with the man. He was sweet, called me darlin and talked about Brooklyn while I felt awkward eating my Marriott granola which I think is the same at every Marriott. That breakfast is one of my best fest memories ever. Or maybe it was the time Roger Davis showed me his bridgework (seriously) I work in a dental office and he wanted to know what I thought.

Thank you so much for all your prayers. As of 30 minutes ago Emmily was breathing on her own dispite what the doctors told her parents would happen. I know miracles can happen but we do not want to get our hopes up. Even though I do not want her to go I also do not want her to live her life in a nursing home and not able to respond to people. You always think people die right away after being removed from life support but apparently that is not so.
Please continue your prayers and I will keep you up to date.

I know a few of you knew I missed last years fest in California for a family wedding. My dear friend Emmily who was just like a sister to me got married during the fest so I opted to go to that. Last night we received a call that she was in a serious car accident and had suffered cardiac arrest, brain damage and was on life support. Tonight I received a call that they will remove her from life support tomorrow. She has no brain activity and cannot breath on her own. I am devestated by this and cannot imagine life without her. She and her husband had just bought their first home together a few weeks ago. Please pray for her family and friends and please tell the people in your life how much you love them. I emailed her the night before I left for the fest and told her about my trip and signed off "Love Ya" I wish I had the chance to hug and and tell her to her face.

I loved the video and could listen to the man read to me all night but the real special moment was the unexpected phone call. Brought tears to my eyes.

Renee and I guessed the portrait would go for $10,000 so we were just a tad off. I also thougt the brick would go for more. I guessed around $200 but it came in at far less.

I also had a very nice time at the fest. I wish I had more time to meet more people and catch up but it seems you have the best plans made and the weekend is over before you know it.
It was fun seeing all the "regulars" and meeting a few new ones. I got to met Retzev briefly in the elevator and prof stokes introduced me to mscbryk and pennydreadful. It was a pleasure meeting all of you.
Midnite I am sorry our meeting was brief but you looked lovely as always and minja kept me on my toes all weekend.
I hope everyone had/has a good trip back home.

My boss told me there is a cool exhibit in that seaport area that has human bodies ( deceased) and you can see inside them .I know I did not explain this very well and he said it is interesting so check it out. I think it is near the place they are gong with John Karlan on Friday.
