« on: January 31, 2003, 04:23:01 AM »
Okay...I think I've got a handle on my problem w/access.

If I'm on, then click on the home icon, it gives me a sorry Patti, no go, new address is www.dsboards.com/  (hello, this IS the address).
Plus, since this kicks me out, I'm not logging out w/in my 60 minutes, so....
I have to wait to come back.
Again, this is if I'm logged in, accessing, but click home.

Any suggestions?

Anyone else?

I sorta have this...
I guess I must have been home sick during the Judas storyline, cause when growing up, people would talk about Dark Shadows and I'd mention the 'headless guy'.
No one but no one knew what I was talking about (imagine my relief when not too long ago I actually saw it!!)
But I had 'switched' it to be more of an Icabod Crane thing, more like a headless BODY moving around; I distinctly remember Julia interacting w/said body (I can see the scene w/the head now).

Dark Shadows was the only soap on ABC at that time that had a working fireplace in their studio!  I do believe all the fires on the show were real.  In fact, when One Life To Life debuted on ABC July 15th 1968, the opening credits consisted entirely of burning flames, with the words OLTL boldly coming out from them.  OLTL producers had to go to the DS studio to film the shots of those flames for their opening, because they had no working fireplace!

Doombuggy!!! Cool info...do you happen to know if there's anything on the 'net that would show this?

thanks,
Patti

We've discovered tonight from a member that their Norton Personal Firewall software has been causing the forum to behave screwy.

I just installed Norton...is it me you're talking about (paranoid Patti).... ?!? :o
Actually, this is the first time in 3 weeks I've not been having problems.

MB...uh...as far as the firewall you mentioned...uh, is free good...like, don'tcha kinda get what you pay for (no disrespect to our MBenefactor), but does anyone know what I mean?? ?!?

BTW...for anyone purchasing XP..when I bought the above mentioned Norton firewall, their book mentions that :
"Windows XP includes a firewall (italics theirs, not mine) that can interfere with Norton Personal Firewall protection features. You must disable the Windows XP firewall before installing Norton Personal Firewall".

(natch...mine WASN'T highlighted/clicked off to firewall).

So, even if you're getting the two different firewalls mentioned AND you're running XP...see if you can get info about XP's firewall interfering.

Patti

PS...my daughter had been on 'puter earlier...when I just went back on (had been online the whole time), I saw an exclamation mark on firewall icon, I clicked it and it told me a computer w/trojan horse...whatever, so I'm very glad I got it :D

Now you know I've gotta ask:
What difference does the / make in the address(s)?

I love my new computer but HATE not knowing anything about it...such as...
Dell said by an 'intellimover' (to make a smooth, easy move from old to new 'puter.
Hello...it's NOT COMPATIBLE W/WIN 95.
Then, there's good old (NOT!) Hallmark Cardshop II, which I never really got, but hey, figured w/new puter should be a breeze...AGAIN NOT!!
And there's no 800# for Hallmark and no real 'support' site, just a place to post a listing (**ck off, capice)?
Even now, while typing, half of the letters don't type; I have to stop, go back, etc.
Oh, BTW...I bought Norton w/my new system...hello...didn't come w/a Firewall..so who knows why I'm having these typing problems...then, when I go into Word, I SWEAR stuff starts typing/appearing w/out me touching anything (walter figured out this is only when I'm on-line).

Hooray for you, Suki! Welcome to the foal. I bought all the tapes from MPI several years ago (and I'm still paying off that credit card bill, lol). I consider them one of my most prized possessions. I don't get Sci-fi so I am thankful to have them to be able to participate in episodial (huh?) discussions.

Dom...you are: sooo cool for posting, since you don't watch along with us.

Can I ask....ballpark...how much $$$ did you pay and do you have ALL (the whole series, not just Barn)?

Patti

Is this a new board?

Okay...I just clicked post
slow, but then finally:

« on: January 22, 2003, 10:27:47 PM »
Is it me?
Very lately, I'm typing a message (on here) and the letters don't type/very far behind.
Like if I type my name, Patti, it may or may not appear.
Then, if I pause, perhaps or NOT the letters come.
Then, today, while gathering my thoughts  ::) there would be like ..- but scribbly??

Also, for a few weeks, on the bottom, welcome to the foum flashes and the explorer e is mostly out??

Don't know how to phrase these..and I realize there's gonna be a new board...

Mostly wondering if anyone else is having 'technical difficulties'.

Current Talk '03 I / Wed. Eps
« on: January 22, 2003, 05:16:23 PM »
Never saw todays eps...didn't know Joan killed Rachel.
RINGO...COVER YOUR EARS!!

Thank God...I HATED the character of Rachel (all the appeal of a wet shoelace).

Okay...first...for 1969...pretty gory with the blood on Rachel's blouse.

When Dirk is summoning Judith...shades of Roman Polanski, n'est pas? (again, cool & gory).

Where's Barn? Why didn't he 'respond' to Dirk being killed?

Like the way Joan wanted to call the cops on herself, yet seemed 'incredulous' "The GALLOWS?" (yeah Joannie, even for fat-cat Collins's).

Same time as DS, on AMC "We're No Angels" with the wonderful Joan Bennett, so I was watching her in 1969 and 1958!!

Poor Carl....

Poor Carl....

Who was Dirk refering to, "...said she'd be brought back by sunlight..." I assume Laura, but who said she'd be brought back?

Okay...the gun..

Sorry, nothing like that in firearms in 1897.

That gun, woman sized, in nickle..circa 1952. Some earlier variations, circa 1930.

What was on the barrel of said gun?

Oh...did I mention? I got to watch "Live" today because
ALL 3 KIDS ARE HOME SICK!!

Glad to see DS get some recognition.
If you think about it, daytime should get some serious attention.
I've been watching OLTL since 1973!!

And, who can ever forget 'Maeve Ryan' singing "Danny Boy" each year on my b-day (St. Patrick's Day).

Who over the age of 25 doesn't know who 'Luke and Laura" are?

IMHO,

Ringo, the portrait is PRICELESS!   Can you imagine how much different the whole show would've been with Bert Convy as Barnabas?  Who would they have gotten to play Dr. Julia Hoffman?  Brett Sommers or JoAnn Worley? [lghy] [lghy] [lghy]

Charles Nelson Reilly, naturally :-X

Ringo....thanks for the laugh.
