Current Talk '17 I / "Jiggers, the Cops!"

How many policemen were mentioned on DS?

Can you please name them? (And, IIRC, some were same cops, just played by different actors...please mention this.)

Thanks!

Glad they mentioned, "Children of the Damned", that was a good, spooky movie.

Of course, "The Haunting" is magnificent, and, "Wicker Man" still spooks me to this day (the original one).

If you haven't watched 1795 in a while (or ever), don't read.

Humm....where to begin.

I really thought Ben was an indentured servant, not a convict!

I don't remember which scene someone goes into the living room (old house still), and there's a man building a fire, and I thought it was Ben with a haircut.

I just finished the ep where Jeremiah dies. Few things: when he appears to Josette just at the moment of death, is it Louis in the head wrap (if you look, it really does seem like him/Louis)?

In this disc set...he was there...Trask...I was hooting & hollering!!!!

I LOVED that Vicki smacked him upside the head!!

I know, now that Burke/Jeremiah is gone, where the show is going. I also know how many characters will be leaving in a shortish while....and, I remember who is coming...MB's favorite of all time!

Gotta say the 2nd or third different scene w/Trask, he was scarier in 1897.

Glad to say, I remember Abigail's 'departure'.  And Angeliques, Josette's,  [easter_cry] [easter_cry] Naomi's AND TRASKS!!!

So, where the hell was Phyllis Wick from..1795? Was she supposed to be Sarah's governess?

Funny, I really had no idea how many eps Sarah was in in RT 1967; thought she was in alot more of 1795, just saw her this evening.

Funny to see this particular topic today (Mother's Day).
We knew the Depp cover was coming out and, my family all went to see it together on Mother's Day.

It is to date the ONLY time all five of us went to the same movie.

(Only one comes closest is "Toy Story 2".)

So, I've mentioned here that when I watch, "Rear Window", Miss 'Lonely Hearts' makes me think of Grayson.

When I watch, "In the Heat of the Night", when the young guy is trying to flee police on foot, he always makes me think of Chris Pennock.

I had never really seen the first (and I mean eps 1-40), if at all, never.

I recently commented on how fantastic I think Nancy Barrett was in those earliest days.

I would've loved seeing her in other venues.

Current Talk '17 I / Titles, et al.
« on: May 11, 2017, 02:11:33 AM »
So, in the middle of DS 5 Disc One, the titles change.

First, they're on the bottom:

Ep   Aired
344 11/3/67 etc.

Now on ep 372, its flush left:

EPISODE / AIRDATE
372           November 28, 1967

Why, in mid box, the change?

(I got used to the original 'marker', it was fun reading & thinking, 4 days + 3 years until the moon landing!)

I'M IN 1795!!!

I JUST SAW STOKES!!!!!

Okay, I was going to put this on the other topic of TV v. streaming...

What I wonder, who thinks that the pay extra cable stations (HBO, Cinemax, Epix, Showtime) will be around in 5-10 years?

I loved "True Detective", but, each of the 2 times they gave us a 'freeby' weekend, is when I saw the first eps; then I waited and ordered the whole series on DVD.

My Netflix has been abhorrent in last few days; but, if you have time on your hands, just go on to 'Fazebook', and put in search perimeters GA & Windstream....

Patti

PS...when you think of it, it was about 15-18 years ago that EVERYONE (allegedly) had to start dialing the area code, because, there weren't enough telephone numbers, due to multi-lines, faxes, and especially cell phones. Aren't the airways and limits of old-fashion lines (which are around in many, many areas of the country) going to make it hard using streaming?

It'll be interesting to watch...and, we'll hate it.

326
Man, I remember what I think was the last one, it was when we were already down in GA.

(Since I usually NEVER watch a 'first run' TV show, when everyone was watching the 3-4th, I was on 1st or 2nd....)

Along the line of 'beginning' Barn, I really did not remember how much Sarah there was.
At least I remembered Sarah telling Barn, "If you do any more bad, I'll never see you again", or close to that.
I really thought she was only in less than 10 eps, including 1795.

Current Talk '17 I / Re: DS episodes online
« on: May 02, 2017, 12:57:20 AM »
In early 2010, I had heard a little something about DVDs not being mass-produced.
There are times when I'm looking at older movies, and there'll be a disclaimer, "This will only be produced if you are purchasing it". Since I heard that, I got in gear with buying movies and TV series. I don't know why, but I love owning TV series.

A lot of people now believe that physical media (such as CDs and DVDs/BDs) have gone the way of the dinosaur.  This fiction is being promoted by some huge corporate media megaliths that want you to get rid of anything you have in the way of physical media and just sign up for subscription services that you'll pay for for the rest of your life.

We have such *&^$%*^ lousy internet, that there's A L O T of times that I'm happy with my DVDs.

I won't stop buying them, but, I can see them 'switching' to something like a USB.
