« on: April 28, 2006, 08:38:13 PM »
Thaaat's right, last night in my HTML course, the teacher mentioned colors/numerals.

He didn't mention RGB, but I remembered from  :-* MB's text on the matter.

MB, on most newerish web sites (that a person would be building), are the colors already there
(eg crimson, or will I need the RGB value....and a few valium??)  ^-^

Also, I would have to say about 1/3 of the color names are not appearing for me on this main topic....anyone else? (it'll say [color*=mediumpurple]* purple [/*color].... note, astericks are mine

Imagine Richard dawson hosting the Collins Family Feud??!!!  Worse, a DS version of Match Game, with Grayson Hall in the Bret Somers chair!

oh a d.s. version of "match game"?that is too genius!

the cast was made for "match game".everyone smoking and drinking while on set!
frid would make the debonair host.louis would be the charles nelson riley type.all bons mots and double entendres.karlen would be the lewd wise-cracker.he'd jokeingly bicker alot with mitch ryan.selby would be the matinee idol.parker would engage in flirtatious barbs with our host but almost always guess the correct answer.alexandra would be the cute ditz who always got in wrong.joan would so be that "legendary hollywood guest star".grayson totally belongs in the bret somers chair...sarcasm,smoke rings and raspy voiced.

all that booze!all those smokes!this show would be too much!

Petofi....the Family Feud would be GREAT!

Not to be mean, but I think *our* beloved DS alumunus(sp?) is far superior, and Match Game (with the above mentioned....ah....?stars?) wouldn't do them justice (IMHO).

Connie, I would like to genuinely thank you for the most sincere smile that cross my face today  :-*

It would have been soothing to listen/watch Joan Bennett bake.

Imagine Grayson cooking, while her ashes go into what she's cooking!!

!!Petofi Grills!!

Or, there could be 30 minute segments with Mike Douglas interviewing each cast member.

Whoosh....I went to the first class last night ::) whoosh

I felt very anxious (read, "I'm a dummy, I can't learn this, I should just quit"). But after the teacher (was with AT&T for 25+ years, was downsized) mentioned about coding (see above) < >, since I've had such wonderful, patient & great cousins (yeah, YOU Midnite, and Connie, and Raineypark, and  :-* dom :-* , and MB, and many others, I had some confidence.

I did not know this....and perhaps I'm misunderstanding or misinformed; it seems as if you have to pay for web hosting and ?monthly maintenance?? Um...no way Jose...

BTW....is MB and/or Midnite paying for here...let us know, and we'll send money ;D

The teacher also went into how it wise to have a separate host from your home IP (eg, Verizon & Comcast each have 'free' web space to their subscribers). He told how if say Bob the Bartender was viewing my site (if it was on MY IP), he could also get into my personal info which is on my PC (I hope I phrased that somewhat coherently....) Now, I went to register.com and the domain.it that VW's mentioned (thanks again!). The teacher said to KISS (keep it simple) for your web address, so I put in my family name. Of course, it's taken, and a few variations are too.

So, in addition to feeling archaic and stupid and having little time/money, I feel like why bother?? Waaa....I want my mommy!!!!

Petofi, what was your Master's on, and what line of work did you go into?

MB, thank you very much; this was very informative.

A few odds & ends; Arashi, I could not agree with you more...but, does anyone know what Sci-Fi's numbers (viewers) looks like? Daytime v. primetime? (I would not hazard a guess how to obtain this info, but I think it could be very interesting.)

Next, MB mentions 'wirelessly'...now, there may be a few under 30 people here; but, how many people actually view stuff 'live' on their cell phones (and I'm sure soon, their ipods)? Alot of our kids may do this, but IMHO, it's still prohibitively expensive (especially when you're already paying $65/more for cable AND $100ish for cell phone service)!!

Waiting for replies....have a good weekend!

Though I would have like to hear more about Mr. Curtis, I think Matt Roush did a genuine job on the Dan Curtis we all 'knew' and loved.... :'(

I wouldn't mind seeing Santa Barbara again.  I used to watch that back in the mid '80s.

Actually Willie, IIRC, Santa Barbara has been on...?Soapnet?

I know I've seen commercials somewhere/time....
