A while ago, I had purchased one of those (4) episode discs of Star Trek; original series.

I hadn't even opened the disc case....

I put the episode "Balance of Terror" in; don't know if I'd really ever seen this before. (An interesting side note, the Captain of the Romulan ship is played by Mark Lenard(sp), who goes on in the various Star Trek movies to play Spock's father.)

Towards the very end of this episode, Captain Kirk is going to tell one of his ship mates something. There is music playing that I swear sounds just like R. Colbert's music...not the opening or closing themes, but more like when one of the Collins' or other (very, VERY specifically Maggie) is thinking about something while alone...like 'back-drop' music.

If your TV provider (or, Hulu/Netflix) is running Star Trek, and you see this episode is playing, please watch the last 6-7 minutes....it's uncanny!!

Gothick...if memory serves, some of the leaves were changing color. (But, in Maine, this probably happens in mid-to-late September.)

PS...so MB, I'm still not clear on the "V.O."...??

When I first came on here, the montage is of a woman on a train.
It states V.O. (I think) and something about, "hundreds of years ago, we put on costumes."...)
Huh??

I H A T E my new phone.
It lists the entire series as $350ish.
BUT...I had recently posted about a 'viewers favs' type DVD; it's on Amazon right now for $5.00!!

This is the same price I posted when I bought it from Walmart.

Go for it!!

my impression of the 91 series is that Dan Curtis saw it as his "big budget" opportunity to "fix" what he saw was "wrong"(ie. low production values)with the original series...

unfortunately everything dates eventually and it was produced during a particularly unsightly period. such deadly seriousness awash in perms, mullets and acid washed jeans is hard to take seriously two decades later.

I never heard about DC wanting to 'fix'...

There were already a number of fan clubs, right? Perhaps he was trying to 'recapture' the fans with a new product (think mid-80s with Coke...New Coke...back to original Coke) (bunkers..bunkers).

Calendar Events / Announcements '13 II / Who Shot Daytime Soaps
« on: December 20, 2013, 10:56:38 PM »
I actually thought there was a separate subject....

Did anyone watch the TV ..special.. "Who Shot the Daytime Soaps"?

I watched most of one; it was GREAT to see an opening waves crashing on rocks @ Collinwood w/music and they had a full cast photo (I've seen that one in books and IIRC, here on this DSboard).

There were soap actors who anyone who's been a round for a while would know; I only ever watched ABC soaps, but I certainly knew Linda Dano, "Patch" and many others.

There were maybe 2 sentences about 'women who now work outside the home....' as the reason.

But...I strongly remember it being in "Time" and other 'top news sources' of the day that whole college campuses were gathering together to watch the Luke & Laura wedding.

I *thought* I started to hear *someone* mentioning people might be willing to pay to watch (I'm assuming HuluPlus or Netflix) and I would have been....

I really miss OLTL...

but at least the Peter Bradford guy didn't resemble Roger Davis in the least. Barn really was a bit dull, plus what he and Vicki danced to was no minuet!

Current Talk '13 II / just MY opinion...
« on: December 18, 2013, 01:51:26 AM »
I've stated a few times before; I only saw the '90-'91 series between 3-4 eps, and I'm not even sure I watched the whole (was it 1/2 or whole hour?).

Every time I see one of the montages (as in this board) for that incarnation...I think, "Too harsh"...as in, no levity, no smiles....nada....

Anyone else feel this way? I'm trying to remember shows from this time period..."The Cosby Show" was just about finishing up...ER wouldn't be on for another 4 years....I don't *think* Cagney & Lacey were on. I believe most of the 'Nighttime Soaps' (ie Dallas, Dynasty, et al) were also about through....

Anyway, just my opinion. Would like some input....

I just watched for a while; my first time viewing Vampire Diaries.

Not sure if I'll watch again.

Can you tell me when it is taking place (late 1880's or early 1900s)?

Thanks,

Patti

Wow! Gerard, that's fascinating!
I didn't think they were the same woman; I guess 'nearly' the same shape of face.
Good movie.
