Calendar Events / Announcements '15 II / Confessions: Loveless
« on: July 19, 2015, 03:59:38 AM »
I'm here today to confess I've never read anything by Lovecraft.

I'm on Amazon, and there are alot of his stories free for download.

Could anyone make 3-4 good suggestions?

Thanks,

Patti

I was just viewing something on 'another DS site' (don't worry, it's Stuart's), where DC's Turn of the Screw is mentioned; it says buy Turn of the Screw on Amazon.

I went there, because, I'm ashamed I don't really know the story. I see though that is Henry James and
it's about Daphne, Tad and Carrie.
But, there was something else, that may be of importance to Sci-Fi affecionados:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004WJT5H4/ref=amb_link_434118042_3?pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_s=hero-quick-promo&pf_rd_r=036CQC1NTCFRVY22EN07&pf_rd_t=201&pf_rd_p=2108888022&pf_rd_i=B000060MVG

In case the link didn't copy correctly, it's that TODAY on Amazon, you can buy the entire series of Stargate Atlantis for $43.99. That's the blu ray, I believe it's for BR/regular DVD also. It says it's 20 disc version.

I believe that would perhaps make someone happy.

I got "Gilmore Girls" in a fancy packaging for less than $100 about 5 years ago (same with "Charmed"). I received an email from Amazon a while back, I could've bought whole series of "Boston Legal" for like $50! AAhhhh!!! I didn't buy it!!! :(

KLS was in a movie with Vanessa Redgrave? Vanessa Redgrave was in a DC production? (Again, though, HJ story.)

Testing. 1, 2, 3... / HELP...and more HELP
« on: June 10, 2015, 06:15:14 PM »
First, I tried to change the background pics on my computer.

Now, ALL the stuff is BLACK.....I never had 'bottom' things?, now I do, and, they're black.
Links, a keyboard icon, Patti Feinberg, this PC, Libraries, and lastly Network.

How do I a) get rid of these, and, how do I not be black (above, the add bar, lime green letters ON BLACK spelling www.dsboards . com/ blah blah.

SECOND...both mine & my daughters Lumia 635 front screens have been CRACKED, as in not use-able. Online, they have different prices; most info says don't install yourself. I called AT&T, they're not allow to install.

Anyone have any pragmatic suggestionS?

Help

I really loved when Liz said this to Barnabas.

Absolutely NO meanness to Joan Bennett, but, I can't see her saying this.

Loved, loved, L O V E D Michelle Pfieffer in this movie!!

Testing. 1, 2, 3... / <Semi-OT Amazon books
« on: May 28, 2015, 04:08:37 AM »
I downloaded the Kindle app to my
Windows
phone.

On Amazon, there are free books.

The 1st one I read (and again, it's a phone, not an ereader nor tablet), when I swiped the page, occasionally a few (or more) words seemed to be missing; eg.,  the text might say, "She sells sea", but, swipe page, and first text would be ".....Wizard of Oz" (yes, being facetious).

But, the book I'm currently reading, Seasons Blood; Midnight Harvest is fantastic.

I don't know the end.....but it would be 'akin' to stuff on DS...

Who knows the suburban areas; me w/my bad panic attacks can't at all go on highways.

« on: May 03, 2015, 04:41:15 AM »
Okay, ... from Walmart. It's a Samsung BD-H6500.

'Built in wi-fi'.....is this just picking up my home wi-fi? Cuz if so, it's sooooo slow, that my son can't usually do the school's homework site. For real, he gets a message saying, "Your internet connection is too slow."
"UHD 4k upscaling"....is this contagious? :)
USB port....is that to hook up if I have Netflix on my computer?
Ethernet connection for digital???
Come on....I don't need it to give me a pedi, just to play movies.
DVDR...isn't that DVD recording? Could I record 'something' on my...blu-ray???
Dolby digital plus...that's if you have a sound system, right? My husband had(s) one, but none of us (except him) like it.

PLEASE DON'T DELETE..I WILL TELL YOU WHEN I FIGURE OUT HOW I'M DOING.

Last night, I popped in a VHS; it was 1897.

Tonight, it's 1968....BETSY DURKIN marries Jeff, who, next ep, disappears.

Now, Julia is comforting a 'confused' Maggie.

Adam (not shown) has been shot in back.

Julia & Barn try to find Ang to stake her; her coffin is empty.

Like the Subject Line says: Lousy.

I don't have a Kindle, but, on my latest Windows phone, I downloaded it.
I then looked @ books for Kindle on my phone (said I had to download them on my computer..?)

I downloaded one about a private eye, who's really into film noir, his 'speil' is Bogart/Big Sleep (not a flick I ever liked).

The character (in narrative) was thinking to himself about great film noir he's seen, and, he mentioned, "Secret Behind the Door" and mentioned JOAN BENNETT!! .

Cool bean peeps, cool beans.

Patti

It's nice having free books to read; I'm a hard-core bibliophile. But, since I turned 40, I don't know, ADD a little....I normally end up re-re-renewing a library book, but then still owe $8.00 (not exaggerating).
I hope this helps.
