Just got through watching, "Rebecca".
Some thoughts:
Most people call her Mrs. Danvers.
No one (I believe) ever called 'her' anything but Hoffman (no Miss/Mrs, and certainly not doctor).
Mrs. Danvers is 'sort of' the secondary character of "Rebecca", but Hoffman doesn't come off with anything but a minor 'beep'.
This, I believe, is because we never get to see Rebecca, whereas, we see two much Angelexis.
I've watched "Rebecca" well over 40 times; this time, I watched it for 'x' amount of time after work, it was spread out over 4 nights.
I started thinking that Mrs. Danvers....might 'like' Rebecca.
So, on the DVD, I was watching the extras, it was about Daphne Du Maurier. Seems she also 'liked' women, as well as men.
I can't believe I never picked up on this before....wild. Especially for 1940.
Always love George Sanders.
