Angelique finds happiness in marriage and motherhood. What a story!
For a trip through time, I've always wanted to see the show do a "roaring 20's" timeline
As most of you know, I generally am not an Angelique fan. She does have her moments, however. The death of Eric Lang was one of them. And now. And now, she deserves many, many karma points for the lady has rid us of Mr. Davis. (Let's all throw our hats in the air in celebration!)
[rant]This isn't love. Let's suppose he can actually escape the extremely pissed off warlock, the thug, and the insane and vengeful ghost. Okay. How is planning on supporting Carolyn? (and don't give me that crap about photography--I own a camera too. Doesn't make me a photographer). Where are they going to live? Is she ever going to be able to come back home and see her mother? He killed Carolyn's father. Is he ever planning on telling her that? Does he feel any guilt about that? (the answer is no) What about this relationship is being decided for the good of Carolyn? There is absolutely no consideration here for her. [/rant]
I think one of us should approach MB about making that an official dsboards code. Maybe the text inside would glow red hot?
... but it also had the unfortunate side effect of ticking off many fans who'd remained loyal viewers, a few of whom wrote in to the various daytime magazines' readers feedback columns to complain that Barnabas' revelations amounted to nothing more than what viewers already knew. (I'll have to see if I can locate those letters...)
Congratulations, ProfStokes!
How do you manage to do all you do and still keep up the posts?
That doesn't mean that I want everything to proceed at a snail's pace either, but there is a happy medium.
Aren't you glad I have some powers of self control left?
MB, please stop snickering!
Maybe if we ALL shout loud enough,
RINGO
would hear us & drop us a line & know how's he's doing.
Is there some sort of lag time developing between when a post appears on the thread, when it appears on the Info Center and when the blue "new" indicator comes on the board?
I've been noticing for a couple of days that I'm seeing posts in one place and not in the others for some time....and things that I've already read are suddenly turning up some time later as "new"....and I'm finding things listed on the Info Center that I didn't see even though I'd just logged off the thread in question....?
The breakneck pacing, where if one missed even one episode, one might have missed a plot point that might never actually be explained again, didn't really take shape with a vengeance until the last year of DS - a point which will begin soon after the complete shift of focus to 1970PT.
Now you'll really think I'm the devil's advocate ...
but to tell the truth, when I heard that this was the case during the last SciFi run, I thought that sounded (and was!) terribly exciting! How rich and novel for a daily serial program to break with tradition -- break the mold -- and go its own way at breakneck speed.
...
I found it exhilirating trying to keep up -- and the pace made sure I didn't miss an episode!
Had the show on this a.m. briefly and was reminded again of a fleeting memory that comes and goes in relation to this storyline.
I remember a voiceover from Jonathan Frid advising fans to tune in for a special episode that was going to explain the background and true motives of the Leviathans. The voiceover played over the end titles of several shows during the week in Jan. (?) 1970, a week that, if memory serves, ended with the broadcast of the episode in which Barnabas spills the beans to Julia.
Fascinating if only because it rates as DS' only clip show, though some of the "clips" were restagings with new material.
I also remember a similar voice over leading up to the broadcast of the second show run yesterday (Tuesday) on Sci Fi. Frid, or maybe the program announcer, advised fans to be sure and tune in for an episode that would have pivotal importance in the story. The episode that resulted did indeed seem very exciting to me at the time. I was pretty much unaware of the widespread fannish dislike of Leviathan; I thought it was a very cool storyline.
Does anybody else remember this second announcement regarding yesterday's show? (You'd obviously have had to be watching back in 1970 to be able to remember it!)
Plotting by committee is SUCH a grand way to write a story. Especially when it appears the committee was never all in the same room at one time.
"What did we do yesterday?"
"I don't remember."
"Never mind...just change it today."
"Works for me!"
