Current Talk '05 II / Re: 1991 Series To Be Released On DVD

Interesting indepth review of the entire 1991 Dark Shadows series. Don't know where writer is getting his information from.
It doesn't help that he has a tendency to refer to actresses by their first names (Barbara, Lysette), but sticks to the standard convention of using last names when referring to actors (Cross, Weiss, etc.).

Calendar Events / Announcements '05 II / Kathy Cody on Gunsmoke
« on: November 03, 2005, 09:25:49 PM »
I happened to stumble across the last few minutes of the second part of a two-part episode of Gunsmoke on TVLand this afternoon, and Kathy Cody was in it. The episode is "Women for Sale." According to the IMDb, this originally aired in September 1973.

Here are a few screen caps. The other actor is Nicholas Hammond (Peter Parker from the Spiderman television series).

I'd not heard of the show or the network before this aired either, but home shows aren't my cup of tea. That might explain why most of my furniture is made of particle board.  Where I live, you have to subscribe to digital cable to get DIY.

The host of the show, Michael Kennedy, comes across as a big dork. Sorry, but he does, and I could do without his exaggerated expressions while David tells the story. Instead of having him act like an excited child, they would've been better off bringing in another kid to hear the story. By the end of the show, I seriously wanted to slap the man.  ::)

In October 2002, David Selby appeared in an episode of the DIY Network's DIY Halloween series to discuss scary storytelling. DIY rebroadcasts this episode every October. I've added some screen grabs from the episode to the Photo Gallery of my David Selby site.

The horror channel is officially launching this week in a rather lackluster fashion.

Basically for one night in the week on THE MEN'S CHANNEL, it turns into THE HORROR CHANNEL...and with very limited territories.

Apparently, they can't even manage to pull that much off. Their web site indicates that it won't happen due to a "technical issue."

Hmmm - I wonder if the movie is making the rounds because of Halloween?

Apparently, Chicago celebrates Halloween into November. WGN is going to air the movie next Thursday (11/3) at 8 pm ET.  [hall2_grin]

Alan Rickman would stir my interest as Barnabas also.
That's an interesting choice in light of the role he played in Galaxy Quest.

DS is a show and shouldn't be some kind of lifestyle choice where I fit everything else around it instead of vice versa...

Heretic!  [hall2_grin]

Some members of the Pittsburgh DS fan club plan to attend the event. Daniel Silvio has posted about it on his blog.

Nancy Barrett's name has been removed from the Chiller guest list.  [hall2_sad]

you may want to try out the new Bloglet subscription box. If that still doesn't work, you can bookmark and periodically check the Welcome page of the site for updates.

Bloglet appears to have died. It hasn't sent out updates since early this month.

DavidSelby.com is recommending that Bloglet subscribers switch to FeedBlitz. You can do that through the Welcome page of DavidSelby.com, or you can click here to go directly to the FeedBlitz subscription page for the feed.

There's a photo in today's online edition of the Charleston Gazette, and there's also an article in the WVU newspaper. Links are on the Articles page of DavidSelby.com.

This is why I prefer my news in print over online news.  I mean, did they have to break up the article with a big picture of Diddy?

LOL. I run the Adblock extension with Firefox, so I zapped it off the screen with the handy dandy right-click.  [hall2_smiley]

Anyway, I wonder if Selby really is about to start work on yet another film (as the article states), or if it's an old interview.

My understanding is that it's new, but that doesn't necessarily mean it's accurate.  [hall2_rolleyes]

If you use this link instead of the other, you can skip the whole registration thing, and it includes a headshot and a cover image of the new book.

Some of this has been posted separately elsewhere, but what the heck. I've updated my David Selby site to include the following:
  • The Dark Shadows Hollywood Weekend section is now complete in the Photo Gallery. If you have photographs or an account of this event that you would like to share or a link to add, please contact me via the site's Feedback page. (If you don't see your photos on the site, then I didn't receive them.)
  • A link to a recent article from the Charleston Gazette has been added to the section on A Better Place on the News page. (This article will only be online for a couple of weeks, so get it while it's hot.)
  • The News page also features information at the very bottom about a new DVD release for The Affair.

Also, anyone attending any of the signings/readings in West Virginia over the next few days who would like to share photos, please message me through the forum or via the site's Feedback page.

Thanks,
