I haven't really heard of anyone calling anyone else a "lovemaker" since around 1897.
It's hardly an archaic term or a gendered one. It's used in the Jimi Hendrix song "Foxy Lady," which was later featured prominently in the Wayne's World movie. In the 1970's, soul singer Betty Wright had a song called "Let Me Be Your Love Maker." It was later covered by Foreigner (a male group) as "Love Maker." And Tom Jones had a song called "One Night Only Love Maker." Granted, it's not as commonly used as "lover," but the term can be and is applied to either sex.

Two sets of photos from this event are posted on the Shadows of the Night web site.

A side note - all of David Selby's books, including the new edition of In and Out of the Shadows, are now available from the West Virginia Book Company.

His "greatest claim to fame was being Jaclyn Smith's first husband"?  Dude, that's harsh.
I suppose it's better than saying that his greatest claim to fame is incessantly touching his hair.  ;D

Jim (Gerard Stiles) appears as "Baylor" in "A Lie of the Mind." Publicity: It's "a dark comedy about 2 families struggling in the aftermath of a brutal wife-beating." Playwright Sam Shepard takes a look at "the American family...in all its whacked-out glory in this heartland love story."

Performances: Thurs.-Sat. evenings at 8:00; Sun. evenings at 7:00. Tickets are $15-$20. It opened Oct. 27 and runs through Nov. 20 at the Flight Theatre at The Complex, 6472 Santa Monica Blvd., Hollywood, CA. 818-754-1423. Athenatheatre.com

Definitely check out the theatre's web site, they have a video trailer for the production featuring all of the actors. (I would recommend right clicking on the links and saving them to your hard drive. They don't seem to want to play from the site.)

Useless information: The song in the trailer is "Daddy Sang Bass," sung by Johnny Cash with The Carter Family, the Statler Brothers, and Carl Perkins, who wrote the song (and also wrote "Blue Suede Shoes").

They look so much alike and who ever heard of a Conard?
Probably a case of a surname being used as a first name.

BTW, Conard Fowkes is very active with Actors' Equity. I think he's still the treasurer. There are photos of him in several spots on their web site. This one was taken in March 2004 -- 3rd row, last photo.

I found the shoes most entertaining.

Yeah, all this talk of making the corset more tolerable. It looks like they balanced that out by turning the shoes into a form of torture.  ;D

NNDB is a somewhat controversial web site. Aside from the fact that they seem to have no qualms about poaching images from other sites for their bios, the "character," for lack of a better word, of the organization that registered the domain name has been called into question on various research/library type forums. The site is registered by Soylent Communications, which allegedly has ties to a hacker organization. The entry about the company on Wikipedia is rather vague, but it's probably the most info you'll find anywhere.

Susan Sullivan appears as Faith's (Kelly Ripa's) therapist on this week's Hope & Faith.  The series airs Fridays at 9 p.m. Eastern and Pacific, 8 p.m. Central on ABC.
BTW this will be a recurring role. She's supposed to appear in 4 or 5 episodes.

Among my favorites are Thayer David's two appearence on "The Wild, Wild West". That series is overdue for a TV-DVD box set.
Amen. Robert Conrad in tight pants.  [62b2]

Funny, when they list the actors, they don't list him, but, if you scroll down to read about the pic, it does list Jamison Selby.
There are several web sites, including NetFlix and Amazon, that have the credits for One Take screwed up. They list Karl Giant in the lead role. That's wrong.

Something similar happened with information about David Selby's appearance in Grave Secrets. David Soul is in the film in a supporting role, and he is often misrepresented as being the lead alongside Patty Duke.

And, if you really want to see an example of bad info circulating online, here's how some online retailers have summarized Headless Body in Topless Bar, a movie with an ensemble cast that includes David Selby:

"Jeff has a problem: his best friend Carl has spontaneously decapitated. So what does Joe do but drag his headless friend to their favorite topless bar, sets him in a corner booth, and watch dancing strippers."

NetFlix actually has this summary on the sleeve of the DVD (at least they used to on at least one copy), but the correct information is on their site. Amazon also has an accurate synopsis here.

Amazon still seems to think Joan Bennett starred in the 1991 DS. I'm sure there are plenty more examples of this type of sloppiness.  ::)

Calendar Events / Announcements '05 II / Jamison Selby Movies on DVD
« on: November 05, 2005, 08:13:00 AM »
For anyone who's curious about Jamison Selby's work as an actor, one of his movies will finally be making its way to DVD on December 6. In Puddle Cruiser, he portrays Traci Shannon, a college rugby player. The film's main character tries to win over Shannon's ex-girlfriend.  Selby's role is a supporting one. You can order the movie from Amazon here.

If you'd prefer to see Jamison Selby in a lead role, then I would recommend One Take. The film focuses on his character's journey after mysteriously receiving a photo in the mail of himself with his dead girlfriend. Amazon also has that one here.

Calendar Events / Announcements '05 II / World Premiere of Selby Movie
« on: November 04, 2005, 09:09:03 PM »
There's a blurb on the News page of DavidSelby.com indicating that End Game is slated to premiere on Friday, November 11, at the Fort Lauderdale International Film Festival. The FLIFF site indicates that a beach party will follow the screening. Cuba Gooding, Jr. is listed as a guest for the event. No other cast members are mentioned.

Nothing has been said regarding an actual release date for the film.

End Game is the movie that David Selby filmed in Spokane earlier this year. It deals with a presidential assassination. There's more info on the official site or on my site.

Wow!! Does anyone know what year KC was born in? (I'd like to know how old she was for this 1973 spot.)
I've read 1953, which would make her 20.

BTW, Nicholas Hammond was one of the kids in The Sound of Music, so you have two child actors working together as adults.

I think you may be jumping at "shadows"  ;)

I did miss the reference to Cross by first name.  ;)  So, it looks like he does it at least three times. Even if you don't want to look at it as gender-based, it's still piss poor writing to just toss in a first-name only reference whenever the mood hits you.
