The big question is whether or not Donna McKechnie will show up.  Seems as if she always cancels her appearances at the last minute.
My guess would be that the chances are better than usual this year that she will be in town that weekend. Her new autobiography, Time Steps: My Musical Comedy Life, is supposed to begin shipping on August 29, and I would really be surprised if she didn't hold some sort of signings in the NYC area to mark its release.

A few sharp DS watcher may recall seeing David Collins having a Major Matt Mason official Space Station in his room.
Sorry to hear about your water problems, CyrusL, but I am glad you identified this item from David's room because it was driving me nuts. It looks vaguely similar to the Kenner Star Wars Death Star toy that we had as kids in the early 1980s, so I was curious to know what it was.

Apparently some rookie in the programming department saw all those Buck Rogers episodes and concluded that science fiction = spandex. Therefore, wrestling is appropriate programming for a science fiction network.  ;D

By the time Betsy Durkin appeared on DS, they had done such a hatchet job with Victoria Winters' character that I don't think anyone could've saved her. Alexandra Moltke's final episodes weren't exactly high points for the character either.

It will be interesting to hear a new perspective at the Festival, and she certainly wouldn't be the first actor with a very limited run on the series to make a Festival appearance. Paul Michael has been to at least two Festivals in recent years, and I know at least one of the series regulars didn't have the foggiest notion who he was when he showed up even though they worked together.

From a personal perspective, I would also point out that Betsy Durkin Matthes seems to be a very gracious, well-mannered person. I recently posted information about her book on my DS Alumni site, and I had the release date wrong because Amazon had it listed incorrectly. She contacted me with the correction, and she thanked me profusely for mentioning her book on my web site.

Besides all that, I'm for any additional programming at the Festival that will cut into the possibility of Millay telling that damn trapped at Lyndhurst story again.  [8311]

I've added some screen grabs from the movie to my David Selby site. Behold Selby with a full beard.

And it actually mentions that Grayson received an Oscar nomination. Will wonders never cease?!
Ok. Who sent the unmarked envelope of nonsequential bills to the reviewer? [sssh]

For what it's worth, it seems silly to me to take the episodes that could probably be considered the least desirable and make them more difficult to acquire than the others. Frankly, I'm not interested in them enough to jump through extra hoops to get them. I can certainly understand that other people's strong desire to have a complete set of episodes on DVD would motivate them to join the DVD club to finish out their collections, but I'm not going to sign up for the DVD club just for these episodes. I think it's silly.

Information about David's possible participation in a touring version of L.A. Theatre Works' Caine Mutiny Court-Martial has been added to the Upcoming Appearances section of the News page.
In addition to the date at the University of Arizona, this show has apparently also been booked at the University of Florida in October. However, they note that the cast is subject to change, and LATW has had casting changes and rotations for their previous tours. No word about this on the official Selby site, and LATW hasn't issued any press release with complete tour dates that I can find.

When AOL launched their free In2TV broadband television service on March 15, they featured the first nine episodes of Falcon Crest plus the original unaired pilot. Since David Selby didn't join the show as Richard Channing until the second season, none of those episodes included him.

Today, AOL removed five FC episodes and added five new ones. Now, a logical person would expect AOL to add the next five episodes in the series, but AOL and logic (and service and several other things you'd expect from an ISP) don't go together too well. They added the tenth episode of the first season and four other episodes, each from different seasons of the show. It looks like they were trying to pick season finale episodes, but only three of the four seemingly random episodes are, in fact, finale eps. I've given up on trying to figure out what the hell the logic is.

At any rate, you can access the episodes from the In2TV Falcon Crest page. The first five episodes listed are the newest ones. Selby doesn't appear in "Victims," but he is in the other four. You don't have to be an AOL subscriber, but you do have to be using a Windows PC. The service doesn't work with Macs. (Don't look at me.  ::) )

Black Hole, starring Judd Nelson and Kristy Swanson, will premiere on the SCI FI Channel on Saturday, June 10, at 9:00 pm ET with a rebroadcast a few hours later at 1:00 am ET. It will be repeated on Thursday, June 15, at 9:00 pm ET.

David Selby appears in this movie as General Ryker. You can see a photo of him on the set here. The film deals with an experiment gone awry that leads to the formation of a black hole on earth. It was filmed in the St. Louis area in late 2004.

  • The premiere date for Black Hole has been added to the Events Calendar on the What's New? page and to the News page.
  • Information about a second book signing in Morgantown held this past week has been added to the Recent Appearances section of the News page. Anyone who attended is invited to share photos on the site.
  • The oft imitated and sometimes flat-out duplicated (most recently by the WV Book Festival) Biography page has been updated to include recent projects.

The whole KLS reference is hilarious, IMO.
You do get the sense that it's one of those mentions that the author tossed in just to show she had done her research on the topic and knew someone had supposedly challenged Steinem's portrayal, but it's pretty clear she doesn't take KLS very seriously.  ::)

That said, I am dying to know what the author says about KLS and her book.  I see from the index that they're discussed in the Raunch Culture chapter.
You can search inside the book on Amazon and find it, but you have to be a registered Amazon user to view the page image. She's just mentioned parenthetically as having refuted Steinem's "A Bunny's Tale."
