HBO?...And our landlord won't allow cable or satillite...waaaaah!
If it's like practically every other television series these days, it'll wind up on DVD eventually anyway.  ;)

Calendar Events / Announcements '06 II / Selby in New HBO Series
« on: September 20, 2006, 04:47:36 AM »
This is somewhat related to Selby's on again / off again status with the LA Theatre Works Caine Mutiny Court-Martial tour. There's now a blurb on his official site indicating that he will be appearing in a new series for HBO that's supposed to premiere in 2007. The current title for the show is Tell Me You Love Me, but, in its earlier stages of development, it was known as SexLife. (I liked the old title better.  >:D ) Selby will be playing Jane Alexander's husband.

Here are some random snippets about the show:
  • Tim DeKay.com - official site of one of the show's stars; indicates that Jane Alexander's character is therapist and that the series will air following The Sopranos on Sunday nights; notes that the series will be edgy
  • Variety.com - an early article about the series, prior to the filming of the pilot and its subsequent pickup by HBO; indicates that the series will push boundaries
  • IMDB.com - Internet Movie Database entry for the series under its original working title

This was Halloween 1998 and StarryAstrid did the make-up.
Are these the "before" or "after" photos?  [a2a3]

A change of plans, I'm afraid. The LATW Caine Mutiny Court-Martial tour information has been removed from DavidSelby.com.

I'm told that something else is in the works that causes a conflict with some of the dates.

Ppl who are inclined to write can write, and those that aren't TEACH!  Writing comes from inside a person, it can't be learned.
Thanks. I'll tell my students that this afternoon and then I'll quit my job.  ::)

man I could use her press agent .. .
Sometimes that has more to do with the customer relations manager or event coordinator at the bookstore holding the signing than it does with the writer's publicist.  ;)

The schedule now appears on David Selby's official web site -- www.davidselby.com

There are stops in Arizona, Florida, Georgia, Kansas, Louisiana, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia.

Hope this isn't getting too far into off-topic land, but does anyone here watch the Dark Shadows DVDs via Netflix, the online/mail rental service? They had been carrying the entire DVD series, adding new volumes to their catalog just as soon as they're released, until 25 came out in July. They still don't have it, and I've done the whole Title Request thing through their Contact Us page with no results other than the usual auto-reply. Anyone else notice this and try the same thing? Just curious.

my Mom came in my room last night bearing the Umaine Arts schedule and there was the listing and a photo of David. Here's hoping he hits the east coast with the tour!
I'm afraid I have bad news for you, arashi. Word is he is only doing the October dates on the tour, and I think the Maine date is in November, so he won't be there.  :(

I am so surprised with all the shows in the western half of the US and the one east coast show.
As I mentioned before, there are several dates/locations that I've not added to my site yet. Since it's not clear yet whether Selby is actually going to participate, I'm hesitant to spend time typing up the whole schedule only to have to turn around and announce that he's out. Hopefully, I'll have something more concrete in the next week or two, but I wouldn't hold my breath.  ::)

For ep #1245:

Lara Parker:  Catherine
Jerry Lacy:  Bramwell
John Karlen:  Kendrick
Marie Wallace:  Flora
Nancy Barrett:  Melanie
David Selby:  Brutus, Ben
Chris Pennock:  Morgan
Donna Wandrey:  Julia
Jim Pierson:  2nd Coachman

PLEASE let me know if I got any of those wrong!
Selby did do the closing voiceover which was originally read by Thayer David, but he did not play Thayer David's role in the episode itself. I believe Richard did.  ;)

On Saturday, September 9, 89.3 KPCC FM in Southern California aired the LA Theatre Works production of Hugh Whitemore's Pack of Lies, starring Julian Sands, David Selby, Rosalind Ayres, and Martin Jarvis. This performance was originally recorded in June 2004. It is available on compact disc from the LA Theatre Works web site.

The broadcast has been archived on the KPCC web site in Real Audio format, and you can listen to it at your leisure through Saturday, September 16, when it will be replaced by another play. Click here to access it.

The other problem I have with it is her writing style, which I would describe as having too many words that don't really add much except to muddy the narrative.  This was most obvious in the earliest chapters.  Just because you could use adjectives and adverbs doesn't mean that you should.
This is why I could barely make it through AD, so you've pretty much told me that I'm wise to skip this book.  ;D
