When I was training in the early 1990s how to memorize quickly was never brought up, let alone taught, and my teachers were professional actors fairly active in the business.  I'm glad memory aides is being taught now though I must admit I never considered teaching that to my students.
I wonder if that has to do with a concern that actors will focus too much on the dialogue and not on the overall performance. In his interviews on the DS DVDs, Geoffrey Scott attributes his rather wooden performances to an obsession with getting the lines memorized  and recited correctly.

Okay, first off, Return to Collinwood is NOT canon, period.  It was just some, IMHO, stupid little drama that Jamison Selby cooked up and it was brutally bad, again, IMHO.
You have to bear in mind that he had to concoct a storyline that would use all of the actors who attended that year's Festival. That also meant he was stuck with whatever present-day characters were still available for those actors to play. He had a lot of bases to cover, and he had to deal with some last minute substitutions. Frankly, I wouldn't have touched that task with a 10-foot pole, but, as the Big Finish folks acknowledge on their site for their DS audios, the fact that he decided to take a stab at it was an important step in the creation of the new audio drama series.

That's the same reason why reunion episodes of television shows are wholly unsatisfying. So many nods have to be made in so many different directions incorporating so many characters that it's practically impossible to pull it off. In trying to cover all the bases, you wind up producing something that doesn't really resemble an original episode.

Jonathan Frid then asked "Why didn't they do that with me?!!!"
Because, as a vampire, he was already blind as a bat much of the time.  ;D

then that whole response is suspect to me.
In the length of time it took to send that response -- and any other responses to messages regarding this issue, even if a form letter were being used -- a follow-up update with the correct information could be sent out. I don't quite understand why this isn't being done. It would be a heck of a lot easier than dealing with individual complaints. It's certainly what I would do in this situation.

Now people, we all know why Shadow gram didn't mention Craig's life partner don't we ?? If his life partner was just his "friend" she would have printed that wouldn't she?
It's unfortunate that we are even having this conversation in the first place, but I'd just like to point a few facts out here in case those reading this thread might think something is being made of nothing.

When Anthony George passed away, the online SG update included information from published obituaries, but failed to mention his male partner who was named. When Dana Elcar passed away, his survivors were mentioned, including a "beloved companion" of the opposite sex. Click on the gentlemen's names to see the notices.

For any E.R. fans out there, Variety reported this month that Sherry Stringfield will have a recurring role in Tell Me You Love Me.

but not "sexy"...that's a teeny-bopper term
Lest there be any doubt, note that boy band alum Justin Timberlake has taken it upon himself to bring sexy back.  ;D

It sounds like they could be a big help toward funding my graduate studies.
Yes, just think of all the ramen noodles you can buy.  ;D

Several Dark Shadoows actors are scheduled to appear at the Hollywood Collectors show at the Burbank Hilton on the weekend of October 14th, 2006. So far, they list David Selby, Katherine Leigh Scott, Lara Parker and Roger Davis.
It was already indicated elsewhere in this thread that Roger Davis won't be attending the show. David Selby won't be either, though they still list his name.

Hmmm, somehow I don't think LP will be as receptive to constructive criticism about her book as KLS will be.
I don't know about that. How many errors in the KLS books have been corrected in subsequent reprints?  >:D

wonder if they moved Big Love that followed the Sopranos???
I wouldn't put a whole lot of stock in that being the actual time slot for the show. That info is from one of the actors' web sites, and sometimes they're the last to know about when one of their projects is airing. Also, it's going to be a while before the show actually airs, so plans could change.

I'm not familiar enough with how HBO distributes their various season schedules to speculate much. Supposedly, the new Sopranos season will debut in March 2007, and I can see how using that show as a lead-in would be an ideal situation for a new series. Usually, once the networks are satisfied that a series has a fair amount of viewer loyalty, they kick it out from behind the strong lead-in spot to make room for another show whose ratings they want to boost and put it in another slot where, eventually, it can become a strong lead-in for another new series, etc.

The event is completely unrelated to the Dark Shadows Festival.
That's very interesting since SG specifically states:

Quote
**** THE DARK SHADOWS FESTIVAL PRESENTS...
DARK SHADOWS 40TH ANNIVERSARY HALLOWEEN PARTY ****

Steve, they only used the book cover image in the print edition.
Don't know why, I'm just a lowly writer, I don't make editorial decisions.
Unless I am hallucinating without benefit of illegal substances, the book cover image appears halfway down the web version, but it's a thumbnail.  ;D
