for example, they didn't release a present day Quentin with the 1897 Quentin. We only got 1897 Quentin.
I'm dying for a PT Quentin in the orange jacket.  ;D

But then, the fests that they've had in small places--Tarrytown comes to mind-- probably didn't have as good as a turn out because they may have not been enough places to stay for 1000s of people.
The problem with some of the smaller venues is that airfare and ground transportation get much more expensive.

Checked w/my IT department this morning and they say this is not true!  It's an urban legend folks.   [santa_wink]
MB is always very careful to post security information from reliable sources. If he puts it on the forum, you can trust it's true.

Here's the Microsoft Security Advisory. Here's the entry about it on the Symantec Security Response Weblog -- brought to you by the fine folks who make Symantec/Norton antivirus software. It's a little scary that your IT folks are unaware of the situation. Most of them monitor Microsoft security advisories fairly closely.

Bottom line, and this should always be the case: Don't open attachments from people you don't know. Don't open attachments from people you do know if you weren't expecting the file.

Um, hate to burst your bubble, but your link went to the exact same place as mine did!  ;)  I don't know what changed, but that link used to go RIGHT to page 4 w/the picture, at least it did this summer when I posted it in another thread.   [hdscrt]
When you post a URL with that goldstats.com garbage at the beginning, it frames the top of the page with the GoldStats branding -- search box and ad. As a webmaster -- and as the webmaster of this site in particular who knows that its owner pays not to have random advertising and junk placed on his pages -- I'm not a big fan of this. Because of that frame, you can browse to any page on Bob's site, and the URL stays the same. That's why your link won't go directly to the page you mention. I specifically design all of my very web sites to avoid this very problem. So there are two things about it that are irritating -- it sticks advertising on the site and it screws with the navigation. I don't need the Goldstats folks' help to look incompetent as a webmaster. I do just fine on my own.  [santa_cheesy]

If you're looking for the direct link to the page you mention, it's http://bobubas.topcities.com/big_lou__page_4.htm.

<click on BIG LOU link, go to page 4 and scroll to the bottom!>
How dare you suggest besmirching a web site with that hideous ad banner!  [santa_shocked] The correct URL is http://bobubas.topcities.com

Current Talk '06 II / Re: Goodbye to DS on Broadcast TV in 2009?

I just called my Congresswoman, Speaker Nancy Pelosi, & told her to mind her own damn business.
Thanks to Congress, I just lost WNBC TV from New York, which Dish Network let me watch here in SF CA, so I could see my hometown news.
I advised Mrs. Pelosi to worry about ending the war & not about what I was watching on TV!!!!!!!
Umm . . . actually, if I understand the specifics of the situation correctly, the Dec. 1 cut-off of distant network channels was court-ordered and went forward because Congress failed to take any action before their Thanksgiving break, so they did mind their own damn business.  [santa_wink]

If you don't care about television, at least enough to pay for even basic cable, to get any kind of tolerable picture, or are using your TV solely as a monitor to watch your VHS tapes and DVDs, then I doubt it'd cause you that much distress if the over the air reception just snapped off 3 years from now.
For the first three years that I lived in my current location, I didn't have cable because I couldn't afford it. I could get PBS and so-so NBC reception. I was blissfully unaware of Britney Spears and amazingly productive. Ah, the halcyon days.

Seriously, though, whether someone has cable, dish, or antenna reception isn't a matter of "caring." In many instances, it's a matter of money. My grandmother cares intensely about Dr. Phil and Oprah Winfrey, but she won't spring for cable.  ;)

Firefox is wonderful! It is simple to use, does lots of cool things, and I LOVE their e-mail system. Bill Gates is Dead--long live Firefox! I'll NEVER go back... [clap] [9050]
Amen. I quit using IE long ago, except for a few rare pages where Firefox doesn't work properly. I use it to check web pages I create, but that's about it. All of the add-ons in Firefox are amazing. I especially love ForecastFox and Adblock Plus, and tabbed browsing rocks. I haven't downloaded IE7 because, near as I can tell, the only desirable features are ones already offered in Firefox, so why bother?

So guess what cousins, tomorrow I'm bookmarking ALL my favorites on Mozilla and not using IE again!
There's actually an Import Wizard in Firefox that will do all of that automatically. Just go up to File and Import. It can import saved passwords, cookies, and other info in addition to your bookmarks.

Got another question, w/the 'advance', and I use that term LOOSELY 'cause I hate IE7 already, of IE7, I can't seem to cut/paste or copy/paste anymore because I no longer have drop-down menu's.  How do I fix that problem here on the Forums?  Sometimes I like to combine posts, to save bandwidth, and I can't do that anymore since I can't find the Edit drop-down menu.  Anyone know how to locate it on the new browser?
I haven't downloaded IE7, but, if I recall correctly from talking some other poor soul through it on the telephone, holding the ALT key displays the traditional File, Edit, etc. menus. I'm pretty sure that's correct, but I could be remembering wrong.

When that happens, I donate the old disc to a local college's film department.
My university library has an extensive DVD collection thanks in part to donated titles. So thank you to anybody who does this sort of thing with unwanted DVDs. It is definitely appreciated.

No other DS alumni are listed at this time (although, if I'm not mistaken, none of the listed DS guests ended up attending the October show).
Ahem. Nope, and I know of at least one instance where a name was listed when the individual in question had not agreed to appear, and that's not just a problem with this particular show. You really have to take the guest lists at these autograph shows with a grain of salt.

At the risk of being accused of blasphemy, I thought I'd also point out that Amazon is having a sale on MGM DVD titles, and the (URL)
is selling for 60% off the suggested retail price.

The more the merrier, I say.  It's great to know that people can purchase the DVDs from places other than "the MPI book club".
Actually, what I was referring to via the blasphemy reference was purchasing the 1991 series DVDs because (a) that version isn't exactly a favorite among DS fans and (b) the DVD release is butchered.

As for who buys what where, I could care in the least, except that several fan-run sites (including my own and Stuart's) attempt to support themselves via referrals to Amazon, so, if that's the retailer you want to use for any type of purchase, whether it's a DS item or not, I'd encourage you to use the Amazon links on your favorite DS site.
