Current Talk '07 I / Re: Adam & Carolyn doing the deed?
« on: February 25, 2007, 09:35:00 PM »
Yep.  He proclaimed to her "I am a man" and "Take what I want!"  My feeling is that the writers wouldn't have cut away during that scene had they not wanted to give the implication that he raped her.  And when we next see Carolyn as she descends the stairs to phone Stokes, her hair is disheveled, and while speaking to him she seems very out of sorts.
I'm watching this storyline right now, though I have not gotten to this specific episode yet. However, I can sort of see it coming. First, Adam is fascinated with the concept of love via his reading, and Carolyn brushes him off. Then, Nicholas introduces the idea of masculinity as taking what you want, offering Adam an alternate course of action. The stage is set for a rape subtext before the actual scene Midnite describes even takes place.

Though it has already appeared twice: once on the anniversary of the showing of Ep #449 and also in "honor" of Veterans Day - so it's unlikely that it will return soon...
Saving it to mark the Battle of the Bulge in December/January?  ;D

Oh, and in one of what must the the silliest of continuity errors ever, In the episode where Barnabas shows VIckie Josette's room for the first time, we see the portrait of Josette, full body, but all subsequent episodes, shots of the SAME PAINTING are of a waist up or head and shoulders portrait!!!! What gives??
I noticed this when I watched the DVD set some time ago as well, but I thought there were actually two different portraits rather than a cropped version of the original. The one in the subsequent episodes appears to be the same version that was auctioned off at the Fest a few years ago.

No matter how hard they tried, neither Sam or Joe could get their hands to uncramp - and it was all because they had spent too much time discussing Carolyn Stoddard's "huge tracts of land."  [pyth]

O is for "Oh, my God! What have I done?" Chris says it when he wakes up following a night of werewolf fun, and Briscoe delivers the line with all the enthusiasm of a directory assistance recording.  :P

However, if your grandmother thinks Nathan's pants "are very vulgar," just wait until she gets to the 1841PT storyline! The men's costumes in that storyline make Nathan's uniform look like he was wearing a loose sack.
He was . . . under the pants.  [a2a3]

Bored with turning into a bat, Barnabas assays the appearance of a fish.

David became furious when Vicki told him he could no longer ride pantless down the banister because she was tired of tweezing out the splinters.  :P

I have a student writing about Brick for an assignment, so I had to watch it last night. The only DS connection I was aware of was the casting of JG-L, but there's more, and I don't think anyone has mentioned it on the forum.

The Pin, portrayed by Lukas Haas, dresses like Barnabas Collins. Check out the two photos of him in this gallery on the About.com site.

Dr. W.: Hand me your comb, Sam. Clearly, you're in no condition to be trusted with one.

You're not secretly a retired country singer from the '60s, are you? Or a drag queen?
Put them together and you get Dolly Parton.  ;D

I is for intervene. Barnabas felt it necessary to intervene in practically every family crisis. How did they ever survive without him?  ;D

Current Talk '07 I / Re: Vengeance at Collinwood
« on: February 18, 2007, 04:32:52 AM »
Last I heard, there were no plans to release it, and no recording that would be anywhere near suitable for compact disc release exists.  :'(

Producing Return took a great deal of time for Jamison Selby and Jim Pierson. At the time Vengeance was performed, I don't think either was in a position to devote that much time to yet another CD release. This was more or less a completely new endeavor for MPI, whereas Big Finish specializes in audio dramas.

I've heard about the possibility of the script being released, but all of this was based on a conversation that took place nearly 18 months ago.
