A is for apt pupil. Nicholas tells Adam that he is one as he fills Adam's head with all that nonsense about how a man takes what he wants.

Calendar Events / Announcements '07 I / Joanna Going on Criminal Minds
« on: March 09, 2007, 03:16:27 AM »
Sorry this is after the fact, but they will probably rebroadcast the episode at some point. I'm a little behind on my television watching these days.  ;)

Joanna Going (Victoria in the 1991 DS) appeared on an episode of the CBS series Criminal Minds that aired on February 21. She played the wife of the suspect in a series of murders in Houston. The title of the episode is "Distress."

She appeared on CSI this past November, so crime dramas seem to be her "thing" lately.

Testing. 1, 2, 3... / Re: Automatically Inserting BBC Code Problem
« on: March 08, 2007, 06:51:21 PM »
I'm posting from IE 7, messing around with bold and inserting a hyperlink without any problems. Smileys seem to work too.  [gramophone] However, the posting page did load with errors according to IE 7. Here's what it claims is a problem:

Code: [Select]
Line: 164
Char: 9
Error: 'document.imgForm.imgText' is null or not an object
Code: 0
URL: http://www.dsboards.com/SMF/index.php?action=post;topic=10954.0;num_replies=3

And, yeah, I know that's not really code, but I didn't want it to hyperlink the url. ;)

P is for pet. Roger Davis has claimed on several occasions to have been Dan Curtis' pet.  [puke]

I mean, good grief, every woman who came within 50 feet of the guy was kissing him within 60 seconds of meeting him.
Yes, and your point is . . . ?  ;D

Milosevich wasn't executed, was he?
He died in prison of a heart attack while his war crimes trial was still underway. There are various conspiracy theories related to his death, including the notion that he was sent to an early grave by others or that he took measures to ensure his own death.

I will probably burn in Netflix hell for admitting to this. They have had a number of defective DS DVDs, and it's very obvious from looking at the underside of them that there's something wrong with them that no amount of cleaning will fix. Despite whatever claims they may make to the contrary, they put the bad discs right back into circulation. I finally got so fed up with them sending me the same bad disc from one set that I cracked the disc in two and sent it back in pieces so that they would quit mailing it out. It's probably not a wise thing to do on a regular basis, but they apparently require some assistance in ascertaining which discs are defective. I thought a visual aid would help.

It wouldn't be that difficult to construct a false history online. After all, everything on the web is true.  ;) Making Willie into an amateur hacker of sorts could easily solve that problem, and it would fit into his "research" on the Collins family jewels if he had some Googling skills. :)

I assume, MB, that you've heard that the Chinese New Year in February marked the start of the year of the pig?  [pork]

To be honest, since I knew what the animal designation for the year would be but was fuzzy on the start date, I thought maybe you were being multicultural in your pig festivities. I didn't realize it was the anniversary of the actual utterance.

Quit tossing out numbers, MB, and just admit to the fact that you and Midnite have lured us all to this board to play twisted mind games with us because you have absolutely nothing better to do with your time.  [snorting] [8393]

Current Talk '07 I / Re: Adam & Carolyn doing the deed?
« on: February 28, 2007, 06:24:55 AM »
I watched this episode -- actually, I should say these episodes -- last night.
Adam has Carolyn locked in the room with him, he throws the key on the floor when she asks for it, and then he grabs her when she tries to get it and holds her by the arms. The two are on their knees and he is forcibly kissing her when the scene cuts away. That's the last image we have the two of them together before the episode ends. The next episode begins with Carolyn walking downstairs to call Prof. Stokes. She's visibly upset, and her hair is messed up. It's a definite hair/wardrobe decision, not some incidental carryover from the previous scene.
I think it's possible to read the scene either way, though the important point is that Carolyn is now terrified to be alone with Adam because he has forced himself on her (to whatever degree) after being told repeatedly that she isn't interested. Either way, there is a physical violation involved.

Frankly, what disturbs me more after watching it is the extent to which she continues to sympathize with Adam, but I never quite understood that whole situation in the first place.

Um, I don't think so -
wasn't Barnabas on Widows' Hill at the same time that Adam jumped? He was there trying to save Carolyn, right?
It happened before the 1897 storyline, so I don't remember it too well.  ;)

Oh, yeah - I forgot about that incident with Adam. How very odd that Barnabas wasn't physically affected as well because we know for certain that Adam did indeed sustain some injuries - it wasn't as if
jumping from Widows' Hill was simply like jumping a few feet for the rest of us.
Here's my question about that:
When Barnabas was mistakenly buried alive by Julia and Willie, we see Adam holding his hands above his chest in the same position that Barnabas would have his to try to push the coffin open. So, when Adam took that leap, did Barnabas take a pratfall in the middle of whatever he was doing?
;D

A disturbance in time transports Roger Collins to 2007, where he is horrified to discover how difficult it is to open a CD.
