Someone has posted the HBO "Invitation to the Set" promo for Tell Me You Love Me on YouTube. Selby isn't interviewed, but he does appear in some of the scenes, snogging with Jane Alexander.  :-*

I would order this book with caution. McFarland deserves credit for publishing works that attempt a scholarly look at horror/fantasy films, but are notoriously high-priced.
Unfortunately, $30-35 for a paperback from an academic press isn't out of the ordinary. I know someone who published a book within the past year or so through McFarland. They tend to publish stuff that wouldn't fly with some of the stodgier presses, usually involving the intersection of academia and pop culture. They're hardly iUniverse, but not everything they publish is wonderful, but you could say the same thing for Cambridge, Oxford, Routledge, or any other academic press (or any mass market press).

This year, though, because of the scaled down event, I"m sure there won't be as many dealers. And if events in subsequent years are to match or mimic this year's gathering, I suspect dealers won't come in droves like they did before.
Dealers who have inquired about tables this year, regardless of whether they are "new" to the events or have had tables for several consecutive years, are being told that there will be none, so it's not a matter of speculation to say that there won't be as many dealers or the usual dealers.

These are two of the most popular ruses fans will use to get to see JF privately somewhere.
Those seem to be popular for the other DS cast members as well.  ;)

I prefer to be honest about it and simply say that I put out.  ;D

Anyone remember David Selby has a new series on HBO? Maybe he's filming over the weekend and cannot work it out.
I'm pretty sure all episodes of tell me you love me are in the can. HBO initially ordered ten or eleven, and I doubt they're going to order more until they see how the show does when it premieres in September. Selby filmed some publicity stuff for the series about a month ago, but HBO hasn't rolled any of it out yet.

If that actor didn't want to pay his or her way, obviously the event isn't important enough to that actor to be there.
I'm not particularly comfortable with boiling this down to a simple issue of actors' refusing to come because their way isn't paid. What you're implying here, probably unintentionally, is that the cast members won't set foot out their front door without someone else footing the bill, and that's simply not the case.

For some of the actors, simply being told that it was a smaller East Coast event featuring East Coast actors was enough for them not to pursue the matter further. It did not come down to a matter of the actor refusing to attend because the Fest didn't cough up the cash.

It was presented as and accepted as a format change. Period. End of story.

Wives and Lovers,
B Bacherach and H David,  First sang by Jack Jones, and Sinatra a others did it also, put out in 1964
Interesting. Lesley Gore's "You Don't Own Me" came out in 1963, as did Betty Friedan's The Feminine Mystique.

I fear some might be missing a point in that ad: Conard's character wants you to make his coffee - he isn't ever going to make any coffee for you.
I think Harvey deserves a nice steaming hot cup of coffee -- poured slowly over the part of his anatomy that he thinks gives him license to act like such a jackass.

There, MB, is that closer to the response you were expecting?  ;D

If Julia and Dave was number 1  and 2 how did they end up in Maine, not saying that Maine is a bad place, but isn't it out of the way.
Just because someone is at the top of his/her class in whatever field, that certainly does not mean that s/he is required to work in the biggest, best, most famous, etc. place and is somehow a disappointment if s/he doesn't. People make life/career choices every day that often place them in what could be considered a lower tier position, and there are a variety of personal and professional reasons for that. Some people like the challenge of working in an environment where they feel they are in a position to improve things rather than a place where everything is shiny, new, and wonderful.  Thank goodness some of the "best and brightest" opt for these sorts of challenges.  ;)

TVShowsonDVD.com just posted a news item indicating that the pre-Barnabas episodes will be available from retail sources (as opposed to the current exclusive MPI situation) beginning in late August.

Long before Geico, there were cavemen in coffee ads.  ;) Check out this vintage Folger's instant coffee commercial featuring Conard Fowkes (Frank Garner) as Harvey.

Midnite's post about another JG appearance reminded me to check the schedule for repeats of her Criminal Minds episode. It will be rebroadcast on Wednesday, May 23, at 9:00 pm ET on CBS.

Honestly, can anyone look at pictures of Leona Eltridge ...

... and not suspect that they HAD opted for a male life force for Eve?
[laughing4] I had completely forgotten about that. (My brain's been a little fried lately.)
