MSNBC's Rachel Maddow cataloged the Obama/Lincoln echoes, connections, etc. in the opening segment of her show last night. The whole thing was 11 minutes long, but at around 4:31 she mentions the Ford's Theatre event, showing the Selby/Obama handshake in the over-the-shoulder graphic. You can watch it here:

Weren't sword blades made of steel?  (Except golden scimitars. ;))
Let's not spoil the fun we can all have thinking about Quentin vigorously polishing his sword lest it tarnish.

Here's the whole range of photos from Getty images, including a shot of Selby planting one on Mrs. Obama.

WireImage is still in the process of uploading their photos here.

Ford's Theatre held a gala to mark their reopening this evening. President and Mrs. Obama attended, and the festivities included the performance of a scene from The Heavens Are Hung in Black starring David Selby. You'll probably recognize the "unidentified actor playing Abraham Lincoln" presenting a copy of the Gettysburg Address to the Obamas in this AP piece:

Ford's Theatre has posted a teaser trailer on their YouTube channel. No new images here other than the promo shots that have been widely circulated.

You could try a search of the discussion boards, maybe with KLS, errors, and book as search words.
Not recommended if your mouse does not have a scroll wheel.  [snow_laugh]

From the Washington Post:

Quote
Best of all is the tall man at center stage with the twang and the instantly recognizable beard. Expressing this commander in chief's disdain for formality, Selby at one point tells an awed citizen how to address him. "Call me Lincoln," says Selby, who on this evening has absolutely earned the right.

How can anyone hate The Doors?  [scratch]
I can get behind hating Windows, but I don't get hating The Doors.  [snow_laugh]

To celebrate Abraham Lincoln's 200th Birthday, David Selby will be appearing at the Washington National Cathedral's Sunday Forum on February 22. The event is free and open to the public. It will be webcast live on the Cathedral's web site. Audio and video will then be archived on the Cathedral web site.
