Yeah!...There was two different runs of the series. The older one(the one i was referring to) ran in the 70s.The newer version aired on Nickelodeon in the early 90s.It was a really cool show in my opinion. ;D they should start playing reruns on sci-fi.-Adra

Funny story. Nickelodeon actually ran the 1970s series into the early 1980s. I've seen all the episodes . . . Jedekiah, the whole nine yards.

When our local ABC affiliate began rerunning Dark Shadows in the same time slot after school in the early 80s, my mother went on and on and on about how wonderful this show was and that we should watch it. I couldn't sit still for 5 minutes of black and white television and opted to watch the Tomorrow People. Wouldn't even look at DS until they got to color episodes. About time I switched to watching DS (they may have quit showing Tomorrow People or something), they showed the last ep the station had . . . Roger Davis' arm in a box.

During that time, we found Mom's old DS album and saw the Selby zombie shot and the poster photo, and I wanted to see Quentin. Forget about old Mr. Pointy Bangs. So we kept pestering my mother about when the Q-man would be on. Never got to see him until the 1990s when we found DS on Sci-Fi.

And everyone thought the months of his not speaking were a long wait in the 1960s. I had to wait 10 years to see Quentin. Oh the wasted years!!!  :D

I've recently updated my David Selby web site. Additions include:
  • screen grabs from the 1970s made-for-tv movie Love for Rent

  • a link to a Hirschfeld drawing of the Rich Kids cast. Many Selby fans are familiar with the image of Selby in Hirschfeld's drawing of the cast of Eccentricities of a Nightingale because it appeared in In and Out of the Shadows, but Selby has actually appeared in two Hirschfeld prints.

  • an updated estimate of when Selby's episode of The Mind of the Married Man will air
All of this can be found via links from the What's New section of the main page:

Here's Sheenasma's chance to catch two of her most favorite DS actresses together. Donna McKechnie made a guest appearance on Scarecrow and Mrs. King, which co-starred Kate Jackson.

PAX will air the episode at 4:00pm ET on Wednesday, May 29.

I'll be sure to tape it for Sheenasma in case she misses it.  ;D

I'm still engaged in the rather slow process of overhauling my Dark Shadows Alumni Movies site. Since I don't have time year round to compile the monthly
schedules of DS actors in other roles, I'm converting the site to a list of the DS actor's films that are available on VHS or DVD with links to purchase them, if you so desire, from Amazon.com. This Alumni Movie Store portion of the site will probably be under construction for quite some time.

I've just added Thayer David's films to the site. The News page also continues to be updated.

The URL for the site is:

A couple of upcoming shows that might be of interest . . .

Lara Parker in an episode of The Rockford Files on Saturday at 2pm ET and Sunday at 12am ET on TVLand.

Anthony George in an episode of Zorro on Sunday at 1am ET on Disney.

A side note -- AG had a history of playing "ethnic roles" (for lack of a better phrase) early in his career. Another example of this would be the film Gunfire at Indian Gap in which he plays a desperado of sorts.

David Selby recently filmed an appearance in an episode of the HBO series The Mind of the Married Man.

I just received this information this afternoon, and I do not have an episode title or airdate at this time. Once that information is available, I will post it on my site (url below) and on the relevant message boards, etc.

Oh my goodness! Does he have a mustache in those pictures or is it just my imagination?

Yes. He grew the mustache for Long Day's Journey into Night. This was recorded in April 1999, either immediately after or very close to the end of the play's run at Hartford Stage.

I saw that mustache in person the month before. I kinda liked it.  ;)

The chat transcript is available on the same site where the chat was held. The transcripts from all the upcoming chats will be archived there.

I've added some screen grabs from The Griffin and the Minor Canon to my web site. This is the animated program that David Selby did for West Virginia Public Broadcasting. The grabs also include some shots of David putting down his voice tracks in April 1999.

You can access this from the main page of the site:

A word of warning here -- The Photo Gallery for the site is hosted by TopCities, a free web space provider. Recently TopCities began enforcing very strict daily and monthly bandwidth limitations for their sites. Sites that exceed the limit will be shut down temporarily. If any Gallery pages fail to load, this is most likely the reason. Other web space options are being considered in order to avoid this problem.

Well, this story is about to have a happy ending. This is what I get for raising hell.  :o

MPI Home Video sent yet another e-mail explaining that the DVDs will eventually be incorporated into an expanded and upgraded affiliates program. However, since they are not part of that program now, MPI suggests that I use another vendor's program for the time being to earn referral fees. This is completely in line with what I stated previosuly recommending that people use Amazon.com links. Of course, they also asked that I not stop promoting MPI products through my existing referral link.

And to show their appreciation, they sent me a $25 gift certificate.

I wanted to make sure that people are aware that MPI has made an effort here to make good.  ;)

This is an FYI for webmasters of Dark Shadows web sites and also for those who buy products via Amazon and MPI Affliate Program links from the web sites you like.

Let me explain this briefly, for those who are unaware of what affiliate programs are and what they do. MPI Home Video offers an affiliate program to webmasters. In exchange for linking to the MPI site, the webmaster receives 15% of the revenue generated from sales via his/her link. This 15% is given to the webmaster in credit to be used to purchase items on the MPI site. Amazon.com offers a similar program, paying 5% in cash for referral sales.

So, for someone such as me on a very limited budget, these affiliate programs would be a great way to make enough cash or credit to purchase the DS DVDs for myself. In fact, I generated about $15 in MPI store credit in advance sales of the DVDs.

Then MPI decided to create the new Dark Shadows DVD site. Because this is a separate web site, members of the MPI Affiliates program do not receive credit for DVD sales. In other words, if someone clicks the MPI link on my web site, they are taken to the MPI Home Video page, from which I can earn referral fees. However, clicking on the link there for the DS DVD info takes that person off the MPI Home Video site to the new DS DVD site. I earn absolutely nothing for generating sales for MPI when this happens. This is a hell of a note considering the barrage of press releases MPI has sent me over the past few weeks. The phrase bait and switch comes to mind.  >:(

Therefore, I would strongly encourage anyone who aims to support their favorite web site and/or webmaster via online purchases to buy the DS DVDs through that site's Amazon.com Associates link so that the referring webmaster can earn a referral fee. That is, of course, unless you are just mesmerized by the thought of that plastic key chain MPI is offering.

I have the links to the Amazon.com pages for the DVDs on my Dark Shadows Alumni Movies site:

http://members.aol.com/mscriseyde/news.htm

I know that there are several other Dark Shadows webmasters, such as Stuart Manning, who are members of both affiliates programs. If you are purchasing DVDs via links on any Dark Shadows site in order to support that site, please be aware that webmasters receive absolutely no credit for Dark Shadows DVD sales from MPI Home Video.  The fine folks at MPI confirmed this for me via e-mail this morning. :o

This virus is most definitely a royal pain in the !@#$%. It's now circulating through the university's e-mail system, and one of the infected users had my name in his/her address book, so the virus sent itself out using my name. Now, in addition to Norton Antivirus catching 10 copies of the virus in my inbox a day, I have to contend with nasty e-mail from people saying I sent them a virus or moron e-mail from people I don't know saying that I sent them an attachment that they can't open. DUH! If you don't know me, why, for the love of God, are you trying to open an attachment from me? I thought that was a fairly basic rule, like not taking candy from strangers, etc.

I would send out nasty replies, but I can't tell if someone is student or faculty just by the e-mail address.  ;)

Hi everyone,

I've added the cover image from the videocassette of David Selby's latest project, The Griffin and the Minor Canon, to my David Selby site.

I've also made a correction/addition to the ordering information there because I was unaware of this particular detail until my complimentary copy of the video arrived in the mail today. The West Virginia Public Broadcasting video includes a behind-the-scenes featurette at the end with video clips of David recording his part in 1999.

This was around the same time he appeared in Long Day's Journey into Night at Hartford Stage, so he's still sporting his mustache.  ;)

You can find the cover art and the ordering info by following the link from the What's New section of the main page of my site:

Oh I provide the McKechnie updates primarily for Sheenasma's benefit. I know what a big fan she is.  ;D
