I wonder if there are any similar type books.  Like...Our Werewolves, Ourselves, or maybe My Favorite Werewolves, or maybe My Favorite Quentin, or maybe My Werewolf, Myself....

There is a rather popular text for adults wishing to learn grammar basics called The Transitive Vampire: A Handbook of Grammar for the Innocent, the Eager, and the Doomed.

All of the sample sentences are about vampires and the like.

I've stolen the thematic approach to teaching grammar from this book, though I use Elvis in all my sample sentences. Hence, my students learn to avoid misplacing modifiers from the following example:

Sitting on the toilet, Elvis' girlfriend found him dead.

Sick? Yes, but they sure as heck remember it.

David's play will be moved to the Capitol Center Theatre, unless, of course, the Clay Center turns out to be ready in April.

Using the Clay Center for performances is now entirely out of the picture. All performances of Final Assault will be held at the West Virginia Stage College Capitol Center Theatre, where auditions are also being held this week.

MB,

I've found the root of the problem with accessing the forums' home page and Norton Personal Firewall 2003. This might be useful for tracking down the root of any other problems folks are encountering accessing the main page.

By default, NPF is set up to block information about previously visited sites. If this operation is permitted for the DS Forums, then the home page is accessible either by entering the main URL or using the various navigation links throughout the site. (Having to wait for the initial login time to expire is no longer an issue.)

For an NPF user to configure this, s/he needs to open NPF, click on Options and Personal Firewall. Then click on the Web Content tab. On the bottom left, click Add Site, and enter www.dsboards.com. Then, with www.dsboards.com highlighted in the list of sites on the left, uncheck the box under "Information about visited sites" marked "Use default settings" and select the circle next to Permit. Then click OK in the bottom right.

Here's a screen grab:

Do I win a prize? ;-)

And BTW, have you ever checked the Symantec support pages for NPF? I browsed through them for Patti last night (trying to see if I could find a solution for her problem) and couldn't believe how many problems people can encounter using it. [shkdy]

Yep, seen all of that. I've not encountered any problems using it except with this site, other than the fact that the pop-up ad blocker can mess up a few web sites that offer video, but it's easy enough to turn it off temporarily.

ZoneAlarm's firewall also has its share of complaints:

I have never seen the Norton software block access to a web page the way it does with the DS Forums home page. Face it, MB, the board is just special in more ways than any of us realized. :-)

You'll thank me for shrieking once you've seen just how many attempts to probe your computer it blocks.

Of course, if you had Norton Personal Firewall, then you could also block MB's nefarious attempts to access your pc via the DS Forums home page. ;-)

West Virginia Public Broadcasting's animated film The Griffin and the Minor Canon, for which David Selby provided the voice of the Griffin, received the Best of Show award at the annual conference of the National Educational Telecommunications Association earlier this month in San Antonio, Texas. Brad Stalnaker, the film's animator and co-producer, was on hand to accept the award.

Meanwhile, the word from Chicago is that temperatures have been so cold recently that they are causing problems with the cameras for the location shoots for Surviving Christmas, the upcoming Ben Affleck/Christina Applegate film in which David Selby will also appear. Local media reports indicate that at least one shooting location was abandoned altogether on Monday due to the frigid temperatures.

I don't know why they wouldn't just hold off the opening of the play until the Center is ready.  He's still doing re-writes anyway.

Actually, at the moment, he's on location in Chicago filming scenes for Surviving Christmas.

And, if you've seen any new work being staged, then you know that rewrites are an option through the rehearsal process. And, if you know how neurotic some people are about perfecting their writing, then you know that it could even be rewritten after it's staged. (He's done it before.)

The whole thing involves the schedules of a lot of people. Charleston Stage Company has another production lined up following David's. Rescheduling for the Clay Center could force them into the position of having two shows in production at once, which would be a royal pain.

They've already blocked out the audition and rehearsal schedule, etc. It's much easier to move this into a venue that can accommodate it on the same dates than it is to reschedule it, especially since they already advertised a set of dates and people have purchased tickets and made travel plans (and I don't mean me).

David Selby's play, Final Assault, was scheduled to be the first performance in the Walker Theatre of the new Clay Center in Charleston, West Virginia.

On Saturday, the Charleston Gazette reported that the Clay Center, which was originally scheduled to open next month, will not be ready to open until May. Therefore, David's play will be moved to the Capitol Center Theatre, unless, of course, the Clay Center turns out to be ready in April.

You can purchase a chiming clock that plays Westminster. That is the "melody" that the grandfather clock in the foyer at Collinwood plays;

My mother actually has one of these on the mantel in the den, and on more than one occasion it went off at the precise moment the Collinwood clock went off when I was watching DS videos while I was home on the weekends from college.

The first time, I thought it was creepy as hell, but, considering how many shots they have of that darn clock during the run of the series, I doubt that the possibility of the two going off at the same time is very rare at all.

Admission is $10.

It's probably worth mentioning that admission only gets you in the door for this show. Celebrities in attendance charge separate fees for individual autographs.

I've been watching OLTL since 1973!!

And, who can ever forget 'Maeve Ryan' singing "Danny Boy" each year on my b-day (St. Patrick's Day).

Who over the age of 25 doesn't know who 'Luke and Laura" are?

You'll be pleased to know that every show you mentioned is also supposedly getting a nod on the special.

ABC Television announced plans yesterday at the Television Critics Association meeting for their upcoming three-hour 50th anniversary special this spring. It will be taped at the Pantages Theatre on Hollywood Blvd. in March for broadcast in May.

The press release lists a multitude of programs that will be included in the special. Dark Shadows is included in the daytime category.

Did I miss  :-* :-* :-* David Selby :-* :-* :-* in 'Surviving Christmas'? (or is it being filmed THIS year/2003?)

It will be released next Christmas.

Look for me in my new short indie film too . . . Surviving the Media Coverage of Ben and J Lo. [lghy]

I went to Amazon...saw the film, but it wouldn't tell me what the film is about.
Also, where do I put in a 'promotional code'?

Patti,

My original post has a link to the official site. There's a synopsis of the film on that site. (Amazon's listing is a little bare. They don't even list Jamison Selby's name.)

In order to use a promotional code on Amazon.com, you have to start the checkout process. I don't remember exactly where they ask for it, but they do ask before you complete your order.
