Songvids are the one type of fan creation that my students really seemed to get a kick out of this semester. There are quite a few of them online for various fandoms, though I've not run across any for DS. These have all been made with computer software, so the editing is much cleaner than earlier versions of songvids that involved 2 vcrs.

Since I've got quite a few bookmarked, thought I'd share. Hope this isn't getting too far off topic.

Drawn to the Rhythm: Slash & Gen Songvids by Ashinae -- I think this is mainly Lord of the Rings stuff.

Creation's Reflections Web Site -- Various fandoms.

CreatiVideos -- Various fandoms.

Dr. Fidelius's Varicoloured Videos - Harry Potter

FanVids Music Video Ring

Buffy's Domain of Delight - Buffy the Vampire Slayer

Mistress Elektra Pendragon's Songvids -- various fandoms

I hope we don't have to be bothered with a lot of bullcrap and speculation before we find out the truth - if we ever find out.

Now there's a lovely fantasy.  :-*

Calendar Events / Announcements '03 I / Fan Perspective on Selby Play
« on: April 20, 2003, 04:49:02 PM »
Hi everyone,

Sandy Henry recently met up with two fellow David Selby fans to see a performance of his play, Final Assault, in Charleston, West Virginia. They also had an opportunity to meet David and his family.

Sandy has generously provided me with a write-up of her experiences to put on my David Selby site. As with all new additions to the site, you can access it via a link from the What's New section of the main page:

Enjoy.  :)

He said all a mummy does is drag his leg and was not interesting.

Hmm. Well, he certainly seemed willing to employ the leg dragging bit elsewhere.

We got to see it with Garth Blackwood, but I guess the chain made all the difference.  ::)

We got to see it again from David Selby in NODS.

So it would seem to me that Dan Curtis does not have an aversion to dragging of the leg.  ;D

Then how did you know for sure it was him? Did he start screaming his lines for no apparent reason? ;D

Aw gee - thanks for telling me NOW.
Yes, timing is everything. I don't often take a break from my own shady dealings to read this part of the board.

Well, 20 megs would be nice but I checked the link and that place has banners.  Forget it.  [nono]
I agree. It's much better to have a site where you exploit others for fun and profit rather than being exploited.  :-*

Hmm. Maybe I can write my dissertation on that . . .

At my high school she wore a habit.  She was older than God then, and my cousin's kid has here there today.

Don't talk that way about Sister Mary Euthanasia.  :o

Anyway, what happens when you upgrade?  Does anything get messed up or do you lose anything?
I'm afraid to do it, but I think I'd get more webspace 'cause you're allowed more screen names.

When I still had my web pages on AOL spread across multiple screen names, I switched to a newer version that allowed more screen names thinking it would get me more web space. Turns out AOL just redistributed the existing web space across a larger number of screen names, meaning less web space per screen name. Several pages and images were lost in the process. If you upgrade but don't create new screen names, this shouldn't be a problem.

Of course, another option in order to avoid being wrapped up in all of the AOL upgrades is to track down a free web space provider.

You probably already know about this. www.esmartstart.com has multiple domain names to choose from and offers up to 20 MB of free web space. Their Terms of Service are fairly standard.

PS "The ending turns tense, complex and a little soap-operaish."

A little soap-operaish huh?  Well, this COULD be testimony to what years on Falcon Crest and DS can do to a man!  ROFL

The review was written by the same guy who wrote the 3-part series on the play's production, and he seemed to latch onto the notion of comparing the play to David's work on Dark Shadows and Falcon Crest. David's son also commented that the need to emphasize relationships in order to make a social issue play like this work isn't a lot different from what makes soaps appealing.

Of course, it could also be that said writer knows his stories are being sent to Shadowgram and is supposedly tailoring them accordingly and thinks David's fans aren't capable of understanding anything if it isn't explained in soap opera terms. [smash]
