Calendar Events / Announcements '03 I / Dark Shadows Reloaded
« on: May 27, 2003, 04:16:20 PM »
Anyone around here seen the new Matrix movie? I haven't yet, but I was looking at reviews on the web and came across one that mentions Dark Shadows. Apparently, there's supposed to be a scene in the film that features characters watching Dark Shadows.

Click here and scroll to the bottom.

Anyone actually catch this scene at the theater?

Your site is always great as usual!  Loved the pic of David on the Waltons.

Glad you like my site. Now I just have to work on my charm and personality.  ;D

VictoriaWintersRox,

Thanks so much for posting this. I hadn't heard a peep about it until now. I added the info to my site. I'm sure someone out there gets this station.  :)

I've got some screen grabs from Selby's episode of The Waltons on my site. These were made on someone else's pc quite some time ago when I had nary a clue what I was doing. Some would say this is still the case.  ;D

Click here for a direct link.

Contrary to rumor, however, I have no photos or media clippings related to David's most recent project -- jury duty.  ;D

Calendar Events / Announcements '03 I / OT: Sound familiar?
« on: May 24, 2003, 01:43:56 AM »
As the Selby die-hards here know, David Selby has appeared in 3 productions directed by Michael Wilson, productions of Long Day's Journey into Night staged at Houston's Alley Theatre and at Hartford Stage and a production of St. Nicholas at Hartford Stage.

Wilson is currently directing Enchanted April on Broadway, but he remains in the Artistic Director position at Hartford Stage. Wilson was also named as a possibility to direct when the idea of a Dark Shadows musical was being kicked around. He's a big fan of the show.

Anyway, my point, and I do have one, is that information about the upcoming Hartford Stage season was released today. Check out this production. Pretty easy to see how/why Wilson would go for this. Sounds just a little familiar.  ;)

The Mystery of Irma Vep - A Penny Dreadful

By Charles Ludlam
Directed by Michael Wilson

What do you get when you add equal parts Agatha Christie, Monster Mash and Marx Brothers? You get a hysterical evening of theatre that is destined to leave you breathless with laughter. The residents of Mandacrest Mansion are having a hard time sleeping, what with all the vampires, werewolves and mummies running around. Two actors perform all the roles at a break-neck pace in this dizzying quick-change comedy.

The April 28 edition of the Knoxville News-Sentinel (from Knoxville, Tennessee) included a brief blurb about Lara Parker's appearance at the upcoming DS Festival and the "Return to Collinwood" skit.

Is Bruno's jacket squirrel?

I prefer to think that it's made of Alvin, Simon, and Theodore.  ;)

Bruno reminds me of Joe Namath. I'm just waiting for his pantyhose scene.  ;D

Current Talk '03 I / Singing Soap Stars
« on: May 19, 2003, 05:47:40 AM »
This is sort of off-topic, but not exactly. On Friday night, I happened to have the Daytime Emmy Awards playing on the television while I was in and out of the room doing other stuff. At one point, they had Donny "Puppy Love" Osmond come out and introduce a segment featuring soap actors who also sing.

Now I understand why Elvis shot out the television. Geez.

No longer will I giggle uncontrollably at the sound of the "I Wanna Dance with You" duet. It was a masterpiece compared to this Emmy segment.

However, I have to say the show redeemed itself when they brought out the Sesame Street muppets to sing songs from Mister Rogers' Neighborhood as a tribute to the man. It was really sweet.

we even have the student/teacher edition (husband is teacher) and it's the full version of excel

Oh yeah, MB is going to slap me for praising a Microsoft product lol, but Excel rocks for teaching. I keep my student grades on it, and then I can convert the file to a CSV and upload it to the university's online grade reporting system so my students can see their grades.

Meanwhile, some of my colleagues pull their hair out during finals week using pencil, paper, and calculator. Luddites! [crazy]

Somebody lash that man to the bar.

Okay, will stop now. :)

I don't know why you feel the need. The lashes keep going and going. You saw them yourself. There's no end to them.

BEWARE THE LASHES!

Sweetie...I don't suppose you could post a pic of these two men on the board....could ya? :)

Patti,

I've got those episodes on tape somewhere, but not handy at the moment. I'm not sure that there is a good tight shot of the two of them on screen at the same time. I know that I do have a grab of David at the billiard table on my site, and Stack was in the scene, but I don't have a shot of him up there.

Sorry.

[bigok]  I agree Midnite, not much imagination went it to the creation of the shadow ;D but that spider on the web in the recent Amanda/Quentin storyline rivals it.  ;)[spidr]

I don't know. I think Amanda herself rivals the bat on a string, the spider, and the shadow for cheesiness and lack of imagination.

Of course, I am sure there are people here who would lash out in protest.  [lol3]

There's a bit of a Dark Shadows connection here.

Robert Stack did a few episodes of Falcon Crest. Kim Novak played his former mistress and the mother of his son.

He had a few scenes with David Selby, including one in which they played billiards.

His character was eventually murdered.

I want to encourage all of the AOL susbscribers on this board to cast their vote for TNOTI.  Grayson's performance is excellent, and the film definitely deserves to be released on DVD.

To vote, go to AOL, keyword "DVD Decision".

I'll definitely thrown in a vote. I'm sure I can round up plenty of my English student/teacher friends to do the same thing.

We're suckers for film versions of plays.

Richard Burton in bondage allegedly does things for some of us too.  ;)

Geez, Deb. You're going through some old posts, huh?  ;)

Glad you enjoyed the grab. I forgot I still had it on my web space.
